Bit late for how fast this thread moves, but the UK seems like a jolly good place to be right now.

If they're in a rural place, they're practicing social distancing. Fuck off, power-hungry pigs.

I get that the police, in general as well as the UK police, enjoy exerting an overly-aggressive and authoritarian presence against meek and mild white people for doing absolutely nothing, but this is blatant.

California skateparks are being filled with sand to stop skaters.

So in case you ever scold a liberal for not understanding what the word "fascism" actually means (when they call someone a "fascist" for, e.g. advocating for gun rights) and they demand to know how you'd define it, here's your Exhibit A.

This has all the hallmarks of an act by a fascist regime:
  • It's an act of deliberate sabotage against a public, state-owned recreational facility "just because they can" to deny its use to the public
  • It's an excessive display of authority -- instead of just running tape around it to achieve the same goal, they did this instead
  • It's meant to control a single, (harmless) specific recreational activity
  • It was done under the flimsiest possible pretense
  • It didn't achieve its intended goal
  • It was done with no accompanying announcement, leaving no one accountable for making the decision to do it and no way of knowing what the penalty might be (if any) for going in and fixing it without government permission
  • It was done with no warning
  • It was done without any indication of when it will be *un*done
  • It's viciously spiteful against a very small and specific subset of people that society traditionally maligns
  • It creates lots of busy work (filling it in, and, if the powers that be are feeling generous enough to eventually order it, cleaning it out again later) and wastes money
Yes, there are obviously more harsh and unpleasant things a fascist regime can (and will) do, but this seemingly "harmless" gesture really exposes the L.A. government's utter contempt for its citizens and shows how willing it is to flex it muscle even over the most benign and meaningless recreational activities.

It's one of the most uniquely spiteful acts I've ever seen a government body (in the U.S. that is) take against a harmless group of people enjoying a harmless recreational activity. This is some "salt the earth" bullshit.

I'm probably late but Wisconsin is planning on opening back up by I believe the first of May and this is almost entirely due to something called 'the league of tavern owners' or some shit along those lines. I'm thankful this state is taking the advice of bar owners instead of any sort of medical professionals.

Oh and if anybody wonders why weed isn't even medical in Wisco, there's your answer.

It’s the Tavern League and they have a ton of power in Wisconsin. People will go back to the bars just to have a social life.

I see your skatepark and raise you "You dare to celebrate Easter when we told you not to? You are hereby summarily sentenced to 14 days House Arrest whether or not we find a suspected case linked to your church."

I was close enough. Who would have thought that an amazing state like Wisconsin would be basically run by bar owners lol

Here's a little official notice from what all the booze dens in the thawing tundra plan to do to keep people safe. In no way will this back fire or fail spectacularly.

I'm thinking that may be one of the fallouts from this. In the same way we went to war on "terror" there's going to be a massive decoupling effort in the US, up to and including revocation of student visas into the US from China. It'll be likely that anyone soft balling this on the US political end will be exposed as being "in the pocket" of the enemy. As it stands, at a minimum, especially if Trump gets reelected, more manufacturing facilities are going to get pulled back from China, likely invoking DPAS to do it. Hell, if there are debates leading up to this election I expect Joe to be asked every few seconds about his history of being more than comfortable with China for at least the last couple decades.
What the Chinese have gotten away with is simply astounding for a nation who's goals are openly and diametrically opposed to the United States. There are Chinese spies everywhere from Congress to major corporations leaking info and trying to sway policy, China dictating to American corporations what they can and can't make, and shit like the Confucius Institutes on college campuses. The latter are unreal. It's run by the Chinese government and high ranking CCP members have openly said it's a key part of their overseas propaganda efforts. It helps send Chinese teachers to colleges and distributes propaganda and basically functions as an on-campus base for the CCP to moniter Chinese exchange students and professors from China. And taxpayers pay for them (alongside the Chinese government) in any state with a public college which has one! It's like if the Soviet Union had a "Tolstoy Institute" (or whatever) on every college campus!

I think it's because some powerful people benefit big time from trade with China (it's market is a bottomless pit of consoomers) so they helped the Chinese get their footholds into the West and promoted a message about how China is our friend while at the same time they villified Russia and tried to promote a new Cold War with them. I'm glad the Chinese virus helped speed up what people were starting to realize last year with the Hong Kong protests and the shit with the NBA.
How much money is this costing the township/county/state? What the fuck?
Money that could've gone to those poor undocumented immigrants, for shame California!

Had they not closed the restaurants down, almost all of this would've happened on its own and shit like paper menus and getting rid of the condiments (I guess they just hand out packets of salt and pepper?) would just be common sense procedures. Not many people would be going out to eat and 50% capacity is very unlikely. Look at the airline industry, neither they nor the airports were forced to close down yet people decided on their own "nah, I don't feel like traveling." The same shit applies to basically every business forced to close, they should've just put some common sense procedures in place and let them stay open. Especially since there's no way around the fact this was going to cause a recession meaning there'd be even less people in those stores and restaurants to begin with.

I disagree with you on that front. Straight up food joints haven't had to close and are 'essential' here and they offer curbside pick up. I picked up two pizzas this month and they were following safe enough practices such as PPE and limited contact. I even got some nice ass steaks curbside from Texas roadhouse the other day. This is strictly to do with bars as we also have super backwards booze laws that give all the power to bars and not to the people. If bars not making money is enough to cause a recession, you need to reconsider your entire state economy. And before you say the employees not making money is bad, most of my bartender friends are also still making money because you can't have a bar in this area without it making food as well so they're also making curbside food money. This is almost entirely about bar owners not making that rack rack city bitch kinda money off over serving a bunch of people jammed into a tiny building.

I was using this crazy new fangled thing called sarcasm you autistic cunt.

Everyone knows that you counter fetal alcohol syndrome with beers on their 9th birthday. GO WISCONSIN!

Maybe you should go back to abusing whatever it was that got you into rehab so you’re not so pissed that you’re laid off and stuck at home in Wisconsin.
