The "safer-at-home" has been extended by Executive Order 21 (attached) by Gov Bill Lee to include the entire state

With Executive Order 22 (attached), he amended to clarify that all nonessential services (if they haven't already) to be shut down

Knoxville Mayor saying that violators will be faced with "corrective action" if they violate the order within city limits

Florida's mayor also did a state-wide "safer-at-home" measure

In my personal experience, things in Southeast Florida are pretty eerily quiet. Heard through the grapevine that a few people were arrested for trying to go to the beach, but couldn't find the article so don't know how much of that is true. No tourists, some people are out driving because of the nice weather but it's much more quiet than ever really. They put p roadblocks to prevent people from driving to Key West. In my personal opinion, the reason Florida is going so extreme in their measures is not only because of the elderly, but also because they want to make it to be as unattractive as possible. They've also closed pools as well, so literally nothing to do except be inside or drive around.
They also finally allowed people to be tested, and last I checked there's a 3k waiting list.

Edit: Forgot to add that I called my dad in Memphis and he said that his job (insurance) is considered essential, as well as the construction companies in the building.

Also at least the Virginia governor gave people a date, San Diego could still be locked up 1000 years from now
If KF is still around in 3020 I'll let you know.

To piggyback on my previous post, I found out yesterday that I've been furloughed along with the majority of my company. They sent out an e-mail this morning with suggestions for other jobs and at the top of the list was Walmart. No thanks.

Not really surprising, but fascinating nonetheless.

I've been wondering how the actual fuck they're supposed to deal with all the films that were supposed to be premiering this spring. Are they going to push back every film's release by 2-3 months or what? I mean, they'd also have that gap in production so it kind of makes sense.

Probably so, they'd just eat the cost of the cancelled marketing plans, but a film released later > a film that no one can physically watch.

That, or they'll just shove it onto whatever streaming platform they have, like with Universal.

I am curious whether this latter move might signal a permanent shift towards co-releases in theatres and streaming platforms- releasing movies on streaming platforms is basically sort of like direct-to-video- unflashy, but able to cut out of the middlemen and potentially reach a larger audience.

Doubt it'll be permanent. I know you can already take a shitty recording with a camera at the theater, but if they went ahead and started simultaneously releasing films in theaters and on streaming platforms, anyone with a half-decent computer could use recording software to record a 4k streaming-quality copy of a film and put it on the internet literal hours after release.

There is one advantage to working at Walmart: freedom of movement. Simply put by doing even 20 hours a week, hell 10 hours, at your local Walmart stocking shelves or delivering groceries, you are now an Essential Worker. You get a sweet letter to Homeland Security allowing you to travel to and from work. If shit gets worse and they really lock people down you will be one of the elite few who can drive. You also get first dibs on food shipments.

I have 2 potential such job sources I can take advantage of and if it gets worse I may.

While my school (and most others) gave everyone the option to make any class this semester pass/fail (and, for at least mine, the ability to do so up to a week after grades are in), some of the very top ones like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT made pass/fail mandatory across the board. Considering I'm still acing everything like last summer and fall, I'm wondering if graduate admissions will:
  • put extra value in my endurance, and the ivy cunts will just be fucked over
  • do the above except consider every "P" at those schools an A because they don't already have enough of an advantage
  • just ignore the semester entirely and therefore not take three of my upper-level CS grades into consideration
  • none of the above because everywhere else will follow suit and change P/F from optional to mandatory

I'm a professional photoshop document-forger. I'll sell you all freedom passes for the low-low price of $200 each.

just got off the phone with my mom
she said that her co-worker's gf told her the way into ohio from PA is closed
i don't know if i believe that or not

SF Bay Area's lockdown extended to May 3rd.
I'm not too sure why they even bother with due dates at this point, especially with how many COVID-19 patients there are in the region. I'm guessing it's because of economic reasons, since they are also instituting rent freezes. Just say 'indefinitely' and pull off the bandage.

Oh gods no. Never give the government the ability to strip away your rights and freedoms “indefinitely”. Fixed end periods and they must present a reason why to extend them for another fixed block. Always force the system to default to freedom.

It's actually great. We're already starting to see more and more people growing a pair and speaking out against this draconian BS. Even mainstream articles against lockdowns are trickling in :)

Welp, that sucks. Government needs to keep people at home and discourage spreading the virus around by gathering in large groups, but we have the right to gather in large groups and the gov't can't take that away from us so fuck you we doin' it anyway. Don't mind the coughs.

Naturally it hasn't occurred to anyone that what the government is asking us to do (that it can't legally force us to do) is the right fucking thing to do. Far be it for us to voluntarily do the right thing and stay home, so our insistence on flexing our freedom muscles at all times just because we can is going to get us all a nice juicy dose of red lung.

God dammit.

I just drove through those two states on Sunday. Nothing seemed amissed then.

This has come up a few times already. It's an Armored Brigade that just returned from Korea with their equipment. They just offloaded the ships in LA and packed everything on the trains. The tanks are going back to the factory for refit and upgrade. The Troops are getting new Tanks/already upgraded tanks when they return to their home base.
Agreed. I can't see an armored division being effective against rioters/looters or the sick.
People are getting 'hyper observant' due to corona-stress.

Take it easy chaps. Stress and hysteria are also contagious diseases.

Heart 100% in the right place. Message 100% for the wrong crowd.

We're autists. If we aren't given things to sperg about, we'll go looking for them or, failing even that, invent them ourselves.
