Stick welding is a respectable thing to know, can be used in all positions and on quite dirty, un grinded metal (though you really should to get rid of paint and millscale). Ive done all processes, but im best at mig and fluxcore, and decent at stick. Hopefully with this we can bring you and others interested up to speed with our collective knowledge.
We have a land plot with a rural house about 70km from our family apartments. It's a common thing here.
So it comes natural that you learn things to keep it from falling apart.
 
It's very common in rural areas, met many a welder from that background, especially farming. Shit always needs fixing. We do have a general thread now if you're interested
