Most bronies/pegasisters likely don't care about the march because either a). they (rightfully) think it's stupid or b). they're introverted. Not even /mlpol/ cares to talk about it. If I were to expect any mention of pony at the march, it'd probably be from some mom who is unaware of the fandom and is trying to force her kids into her anti-Trump autism.

They don't quote LotR because any sense of real pathos is anathema to these types of people.
The only narratives that fit in their worldview are those about fighting the dark forces of oppression and 'gritty' stuff like Game of Thrones where every character is a bastard trying to one up everyone else.

As subjective and stupid as it would still be, they'd have a more legitimate point if they were praising JK Rowling herself for being an accomplished female author, but instead they choose to praise her fictional female characters in a fictional story that never happened in real life.

LOTR is the complete opposite of woke. If they had their way, it would be banned or rewritten.
Emma Watson went to Brown and is the prototypical white feminist. She complained about the gender wage gap in Hollywood, despite making more money than most people who exist.

Since Rowling is vocally anti-Trump, maybe it’s less about her being a woman and more about her being a woman who thinks exactly like they do.

Sounds right to me. I've seen feminist bloggers bitching about her because she didn't condemn Johnny Depp after the abuse charges, or something. She's now an "abuse apologist", which turned into her being "an abuser". Also there's some salt about her appropriating Native culture or some shit.
All of that's not enough to have the tide turn against her, though. Most feminists don't seem to jump on that bandwagon, presumably because they like the books/films too much.

It's obvious why they don't like LOTR tho. LOTR has this "hail Britannia / the darks are evil" subtext that makes them REEE, also it's harder for them to play escapism with. However it's very easy for them to imagine their black Mary Sue selves going to Hogwarts, being best buds with Harry and defeating evil Trump-demort.
