I mean the whole "NAZIS CONQUER THE WORLD AND TURN THE WEST INTO NAZIS TOO......somehow"

They created a super-technological advanced Jewish cabal to explain that away. How did the Nazis get super science? They stole it from the Jewish cabal that was conspiring to destroy them.

It wasn't a bomb, but New Collossus sold much less than the first game.

Fucking hysterical watching the fans go from "oh people don't like killing Nazis, WONDER WHY" to "uh actually the game is pretty shittily designed after", in the space of about three days.

The game actually did have dogshit gameplay. It also had very little gameplay as it was almost 50% cutscenes.

Oddly enough, the story also went against wokeness by -
they had the stereotypical black woman bully the fat German woman by calling her a Nazi and the German girl beat the shit out of her in a "hell yeah" sorta way with the implied lesson that it was wrong to wrongly label people as Nazis.

I always figured that the publishers knew that they had a bit of a mediocre game on their hands, and they decided to compensate by boasting to the "Punch a Nazi!" crowds. Even though the game itself wasn't that "woke" when you scrutinize it, critics bought it hook line and sinker, and awarded it glowing reviews (there's a good video about Battlefield V that delves into it some more).

Unfortunately for them, a lot of normal gamers saw through the act and thought that it was worse than The New Order. In spite of the worship from critics and the "Punch a Nazi!" crowds, word of mouth had crippled the game's sales.

Going by how try-hard the twins are about killing Nazis, I think they're trying their luck a second time.

It's a pretty dumb marketing strategy. Do they actually believe SJWs play video games???

It was a lot of fun, although the boss fights were terrible. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is still the best game in the series.
I dont remember much about the bossfights but, I really enjoyed the Whole game structure ala halo odst, with the big city hub and the various missions scattered throughout it.

I've been wanting to try it, but they took it off Steam so my best bet is either buying a physical disc or getting it on console.
I dont think it's woth buying a console for it. At worst just search for the Iso somewhere, but I cant tell you how the pc version was, because I did play it on 360.

Imma be honest, I think think the big narrative mistake of the series was the New Order "nazi world domination" plotline and the series would have been far better served just keeping it in the "WW2 is happening but the nazis are doing spoopy shit" template.

I mean the whole "NAZIS CONQUER THE WORLD AND TURN THE WEST INTO NAZIS TOO......somehow" thing was done to death by the time the 60s rolled around....hell it was already becoming a cliche before WW2 even fucking began and thus trying a "serious and gritty and grim" spin of it for the 38209th time was never going to work for me unless the cliche was changed around enough to keep it interesting.

Hell if I were to shit out an idea then maybe have the wider backstory be that all the occult diddlings done by both sides in the original games unleashed a supernatural apocalypse near the end of the war with various beasties swarming all sides, resulting in a desperate alliance between the allies and the nazis against the hordes of inhuman monsters, all while BJ is still obsessed with slaughtering the hordes of human monsters he has always fought, even if doing so jeopardises humanity's survival.

I dunno, just something that isnt shit I have seen a billion times over and has never been done in a way that isnt mediocre and boring.
Can I just say I wish they kept the series in WW2 instead of going forward into the Nazified '60s.
Because thats what made The Old Blood and the Prologue of TNO the best parts of these new games. You don't have to junk all the Nazi Super Tech stuff. Just go nuts with the whole Alternate WW2 stuff.
Because if you ask me Shermans fighting Panzerhunds and Iowa Class Battleships blasting those giant Monitor Tripods is infinitely cooler than "The Nazis have taken over the world and now we have the '60s with goosesteping added".

Something I just realized; both B.J. and Anya were nearing 40 by the time of The New Colossus. So maybe their daughters are just literal autists?

Perhaps, but there was this exceptional scene at the end of TNC that makes me suspect the twins have brain damage.

Honestly, I think the twins should count themselves lucky that didn't kill them.

Don't even care about the woke shit, TNO was mediocre as fuck, TNC was supposedly even worse and this is most likely gonna be just another generic coop shooter that doesn't take advantage of the MP aspect and just gives you a shooter you can't lose in because you can revive each other.

I'd be down for a wackier FPS version of this. I was already bored of the whole 'Nazis take over the world and you have to resist them as the plucky underdog' trope when another Turning Point did it a decade ago. But then that game was far more mediocre gameplay wise than Wolfenstein has ever been.

I played and really enjoyed The New Order. It was taking things a bit differently than the previous outings, but I kinda dug it. Characters were kinda derpy but I enjoyed it because it felt like an old pulp story where you're playing a man the size of a water buffalo and yet can apparently stealth like Batman when the situation calls for it. Plus the game's shooting mechanics were really top notch and enjoyable, especially when you found yourself in a good run and you're mowing down things left and right like Doomguy. It wasn't perfect, but it laid some pretty solid groundwork.

The New Collossus... best way I can describe it is this: it's like when you get a new album from a band you're really liking, they're brand new up and coming talent, but they show promise. Firt half of the album is pretty solid, got some decent stuff, albeit a bit more experimental. Second half though is a complete and total mess, all de facto B-Side material.

Same thing with New Collossus. It starts off reallly strong, but with some stuff you didn't ask for (BJ's backstory for example), but it's not entirely terrible either (the first scene when you meet Grace Walker is actually really well done). The second half however after "the trial" is where things go to hell. Adding mechanics which add nothing to the gameplay and characters which serve to do nothing but divert the attention away from the main character. Further the writing just feels... off. And the whole thing ends with a bloody pregnant woman, you fighting off easily the laziest final boss of any Wolfenstein game going all the way back to Wolf3D, and a screamo version of "We're Not Going to Take It." Blah.

To put it another way... if The New order was a Frank Miller's the Dark Knight Returns, The New Colossus was Azrael Batman- an attempt to keep the dark and gritty tone but only ending up looking ridiculous by the end.

SO NOW TO THE TOPIC ON HAND...
As for Wolfenstein Youngblood... I'm not going to throw it under the bus, but at the same time I'm really not invested in this premise at all. I don't care about playing BJ's kids, and I'm not interested in fast forwarding to retropunk 1980s any more than I would be interested in watching a movie about Indiana Jones' daughter fighting Nazis during the psychadelic 1970s. I hope mechanically it plays as well as the previous two games (although I hope they get a better level designer because TNC's levels were ass), but I'm probably going to pass on this game until it's in the $10-$15 range.

They do unfortunately. Dunno where people get this from.

A woke game will do fine, a shit game that uses wokeness to cover for being shit will fail.

Pissing off the woke people doesn't actually do any damage as they buy it anyway if they like the game.

Necroing because the game is actually out now. Evidently the game is receiving scores of 8 and higher from places like IGN and GameSpot, but YouTube reviewers aren't as impressed.

GManLives' review is mixed.

Upper Echelon Gamers is decidedly more negative.

Of course none of this matters since no one is talking about the game and it'll be forgotten in a week or two.
