Wolfenstein has become art mimicking reality. In a bad way. No matter how many Nazis you kill in this supposed liberation story arc, the SJWs are going to keep screaming while waving their girly fists: "YEEEEEAH KILL NAZIS!" I don't mean that in the same way video games have had us killing Nazis for decades, but that this thing keeps upping the ante on Nazis, Nazis everywhere all the while equating it to today's politics in their heads.

The Nazis never die, there's always going to be more Nazis. If the series had the balls to end on these characters waking up to discover they've murdered thousands upon thousands of innocent people on the excuse of them being Nazis, it'd be absolutely perfect.

Fucking at least make their personalities not so goddamned cringe and I don't care if they have tits or not.
 
Meh, looks alright. Do hope the co-op wont be problematic and its visceral as hell. Honestly, Im just glad this took more of a "lets go crazy" route instead of the eye rolling "look how serious we are" with New Order. Honestly, a game where theres a super secret Jewish society that invented all the wunder waffles, an you wanna be all dramatic about it? Pfft....bitch please.

@Clop that is really a silly thing, so we want a series that was stupid to suddenly become like Spec Ops the line. Honestly, I'll say this whenever machine games makes fun of SjWs (Doom Eternal) or anti-sjws (New Collosus) its always a damn treat watch either side whine and piss about it.
 
I really hope that they either wrap up the MachineGames series with this one or do one more game to make a proper trilogy and then proceed to make an original entry taking inspiration from Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Nostalgia might play a factor but I do consider Return to be a perfect sequel. It really was just fun and creeped me out as a kid. TNO felt goofy with all the Sci-Fi stuff. I more prefer BJ fighting Nazis and Supernatural shit since Nazis actually did have occult shenanigans.

I just wanted to shoot Hitler, not have woke politics. Can I please just shoot Hitler? Yes the series has always been stupid but at least they let me shoot Hitler with no strings attached (or the occasional undead demigod, that was fine too.)

And no, of course I don't want one kind of stupid to be replaced with Spec Ops kind of stupid, what rational person would think that? Surely there exist more choices than picking a side with this political bullshit?

I always love when people have these nostalgia goggles for RTCW, when my god that game really doesnt deserve it. Dont get me wrong, it was fun but the way people.praise it is just sad. Like, its like they forget how the two "stealth" missions that were a huge pain in the ass, the boss fights that were a frickin joke (and thats being nice about it) or hell how all the enemies were bullet sponges.

Well yeah, but I never get any sort of wokeness bs with this game. You just got two crazy bitches who mostly take their dads believes to an extreme level, despite that BJ himself is a fuckin nutjob. But I just find it kinda funny how whenever machine games makes fun of one of the groups (be it this, new Collosus or Doom Eternal) people are just raising their pitch forks and going about politics, while the middle crowd mostly cares about the gameplay an story itself being solid enough.

Since I get the feeling you played the previous games, I'm just going to assume you're extremely optimistic and I salute you for it.

Spec Ops wasn't really as political as it was more "PTSD and War kind of suck" which, yep, they do. It atleast had some class with how it told the story. This just looks like "Tumblr made a CoD Clone II: Grrl"
 
There's more than a sick part of me that wants the twins to take some sort of perverse pleasure in seeing who can one-up the other in nazi kills and the dehumanizing ways in which they do it. There's potential for some good story moments there, but if the trailer (and New Colossus) are anything to go by it'll be a hilariously tone deaf power fantasy informed by modern political trappings.

Compare this with the new order which had... some nuance to how they handled the issue of BJ being a nazi killing ubermensch. He was a broken man who had lost everything he was fighting for and the guilt over his situation is almost too much for him to handle. In fact it's clear that BJ's mental state is tenuous at best with his hushed monologues while stalking around slitting nazi throats. BJ doesn't like what he has to do. Despite this he hopes that it'll serve a greater purpose plus he's damn good at killing nazis.

All they have to do is have the twins come to terms with the fact that they took up Blazkowicz's cause without understanding his desperation to do those things. It could be a cool moment where they realize the depths of his struggle and choose to continue down the same path. Just anything better than "wow, did you see how that nazi's head exploded! Grody to the max!"

This is pretty much what would make the story at least somewhat better in my eyes. Like maybe have B.J. be horrified at the way his children have turned out, becoming ruthless Nazi killers that take outright glee in what they do, in contrast to his own melancholic attitude.

People have mentioned in this thread that they thought The New Order was silly too and took itself too seriously, and they're free to think that, that is a valid response especially with the series' prior history. I just think that in terms of consistency and tone, this game clashes so horribly with TNO that I can't believe it's being made by the same people.

Also, as a side note, I kinda want the game to end with B.J. back at the asylum, the entire trilogy happening in his head as a result of the brain damage at the beginning of TNO (seriously, did anything ever come of that?)
 
Wait a minute, I'm not familiar at all with the backstory of these games, but if the knot sees have taken over the world and the US gov't, why would the FBI let a black woman be an agent?

Ah fuck it, I guess I should be happy that the twins didn't start making out with their black friend while talking about their poor personal hygiene. Because you know that's what the average urbanite bugman game developer thinks about when tugging his soy shriveled penis: Homely, barely legal teenage lesbians talking about how bad they stink.
 
I coulda swore that the previous game bombed.

Regardless, I appreciated its story. Shame it was cringy as hell alot of the time.

Did I play it? No, the gameplay looked like ass.
 
Imma be honest, I think think the big narrative mistake of the series was the New Order "nazi world domination" plotline and the series would have been far better served just keeping it in the "WW2 is happening but the nazis are doing spoopy shit" template.

I mean the whole "NAZIS CONQUER THE WORLD AND TURN THE WEST INTO NAZIS TOO......somehow" thing was done to death by the time the 60s rolled around....hell it was already becoming a cliche before WW2 even fucking began and thus trying a "serious and gritty and grim" spin of it for the 38209th time was never going to work for me unless the cliche was changed around enough to keep it interesting.

Hell if I were to shit out an idea then maybe have the wider backstory be that all the occult diddlings done by both sides in the original games unleashed a supernatural apocalypse near the end of the war with various beasties swarming all sides, resulting in a desperate alliance between the allies and the nazis against the hordes of inhuman monsters, all while BJ is still obsessed with slaughtering the hordes of human monsters he has always fought, even if doing so jeopardises humanity's survival.

I dunno, just something that isnt shit I have seen a billion times over and has never been done in a way that isnt mediocre and boring.

It wasn't a bomb, but New Collossus sold much less than the first game.

Fucking hysterical watching the fans go from "oh people don't like killing Nazis, WONDER WHY" to "uh actually the game is pretty shittily designed after", in the space of about three days.

He probably trained them and after the first job saw how horrible they were...

... kind of like Dexter's adoptive father walking in on Dexter killing a horrible criminal. It broke him that he turned the kid into a weapon.
