According to some exorcists, it was because he had insane pride and jealousy. When the angels were created, they were immediately given knowledge of everything they should know and that included their tasks in life. For Lucifer, this was to further enlighten the mind of Our Lady. He was so angry at this because why should I make some human woman better, he said fuck it, and fell.

What is good if evil doesn’t exist?

If evil doesn’t exist, there’s no alternative to being good. There’s no differentiation. Then good wouldn’t be good, it would just be being.

In the absence of evil, good takes on the problems of an unfalsifiable hypothesis
