Necro'ing the shit out of this thread for a very good reason.
Pilleater, someone who's been mentioned earlier in this thread (including the OP) has gained some notoriety lately on Instagram. He's been posting videos satirizing the people of Bushwick, Brooklyn and focusing around a character named Safe Sleazy. The arc of these videos starts with this video. Notice how the first attribute he points out about these guys is that they have Asian girlfriends. Most of the comments assumed this was making fun of iDubbbz and ‘lol so random’ millennials.
This video is very well received, and it ends up catapulting Joe (Pilleater) to short-lived Instagram Reels micro-fame. Eventually he expands these videos into an entire extended universe. (Full Archive) Some of them are actually pretty funny. Also fuck Instagram for making their website literally impossible to batch download from.
I'm not going to go into all of the lore behind these videos, but the TL;DW is that there's a lot of weirdly specific references in them that tie them specifically back to Joe (his obsession with the band Xiu Xiu, him having an Asian girlfriend, the location of Bushwick, weirdly specific politics, etc.). Joe also stops using the iDubbbz picture a few videos in so half the comments aren't just Ian being called a faggot. Even in someone else’s drama Ian can’t stop being humiliated
. A lot of these references go unnoticed, primarily because most people don't know about this guy or his weird obsession. The only notable thing from this is that Joe eventually gets in minor trouble for uploading a video with a no no word, but that’s about as far as it goes.
This all comes to a head when Pilleater self-phonebooks as Joe Nally. This video completely ruins the bit as Joe admits that the entire time he's based the detestable character of Safe Sleazy off of himself, and inadvertently compared himself to iDubbbz (something he doesn't admit in the video, because that's too low even for the writer of "Suicidal Asian and Promiscuous".
This video went over like a lead balloon. Most of the comments (that haven't been deleted) are calling Joe out for ruining the entire bit and making a complete ass of himself. I say that the comments are being deleted, because there's pretty credible evidence Joe is playing janny with his comments and blocking anybody who calls him out. I went and looked at the comment section today and couldn't find any of the highest liked comments that had been there before. This video also reframes the a lot of the Safe Sleazy videos as projection and self insert fantasy for a weird freak with an Asian fetish.
Joe then pivots to promoting his shitty books and music, and the Safe Sleazy videos start to drop off in quantity. They're really not relevant from here on out.
A few days later an account called @tabletmuncher starts posting videos. These videos ridicule Joe for being a loser and start to expose some of the stuff he's done before that's mentioned in this thread.
Currently, Japanophile Joe is crashing out on his story.
Found in the tablet munchers comments so I can’t verify it but it tracks with everything else we know about Joe
Also, in the process of just googling 'Joe Nally' I was able to find his Substack (A) and his Internet Archive accounts, neither of which contain much that's really interesting other than just endless pretentious yapping about avant-garde art, and of course, AxA / Anime Realism. I'm a white person (russian) from an asian country, more precisely central asian - and I noticed there is some actual fetishism, or weird liking towards european men in certain cases.
My experience is mostly with teens and only now with more mature women (18-25). I remember being asked to touch my hair (I heard nigras complaining about this in america, heh), commented how I should be a model with my looks, obsessively complemented about my eyes (They're gray, while most kazakhs have brown or amber eyes - which is why I suspect they caught their attention), touched without being asked. And at one point a 9th grader wrote a love letter to me, while I was in 11th grade. Did I mention that this all was done by kazakh females? So this fetishism is in different parts of asia, not only Japan and China.
What's funny is that a lot of these girls would then talk about traditional kazakh values and such, while pining for some paleface(-s). Kazakh men also get mad when their women get together with whites, but it's been less apparent as of recent. There's also this mindset, which is something I suppose exists all over the 3rd and 2nd world - that marrying some rich white foreigner (Or rich white person who's endemic to your country) is the ultimate goal for a woman who wants to live in sustenance. Also they pride themselves on their nation, but then drool over white western celebrities, lol.
I know some of this might sound like a brag, but most of the situations I described were awkward and creepy as hell and I wouldn't want to go through them again. And I also doubt that if a man was doing this to a woman, people nearby would allow it.
