Socially speaking, positive attitudes towards and tolerance of troonism is changing. Having a series of bloody and horrifying troon based and/or adjacent crimes happen in succession can do that. And having your son come home from school and anounce that he's really a lesbian. Or your daughter loses to a troon in athletic competitions. Or your spouse or parent trooning or pooning out. Etc. There are millions of ways to peak.

There's an older DC Vertigo comic called Transmetropolitan.
