To be fair, you don't even have to get real autistic with it to enjoy Minecraft. Very comfy game for even the most casual play imaginable. I know this old dude that plays it and he doesn't even build anything most the time, just hikes around and checks out all the cool randomly generated shit in infinite world mode and is perfectly content with that
That is the polar opposite of the "300+ modpack total hardcore industrialist" Minecraft playthroughs. He sounds like a chill dude.

Old School RuneScape, not only nostalgia but I just have good memories of leveling up magic with my friends and discussing random internet shit, it's also a fun game just to put on in the background to occupy your time while you wait for something. The sounds and music are soothing too, especially the high pitched "plink" of pickaxes hitting ore is a distinct sound for me since leveling mining and smithing are some of my favorite skills to level up.

FTL is the chillest game I've ever played and a long time favorite I keep coming back to.
Diablo 2 is also extremely comfy as well as nostalgic. They don't make em like that anymore.
Both of these games have a ton of replayability, roguelike elements and high quality, distinctive art and music.

I just map out vast areas

We Love Katamari, Super Mario 64, kirby 64, Cubivore, and Minecraft. Whenever I play those games it always puts me in a good mood.

STALKER Anomaly w/ GAMMA. I enjoy traversing the world, taking jobs, looking for stashes, and joining the occasional friendly STALKER by the fire.

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Planning new builds, exploring caves and ruins, lot of fun.

X4. Part space sim, part factorio, all German autism. Trying to optimize production chains, keep allied factions alive, and exploring empty space is great fun.

Lately it’s been Dungeons of Dredmor. Fun just picking a randomized build, enabling permadeath and seeing how far I can get before the RNG decides to smite me.

Borderlands 2 is a fun comfort game as well.

For me, it's Might & Magic 6. It was one of the first open world rpgs I encountered at a young age and every inch of its low poly world has been burned into my mind. I still go back every now and again just to hear the soundtrack of the starting town.

All the 90’s Lucasarts point-and-click adventure games. Monkey Island, Full Throttle, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Fate of Atlantis. I’m not even going to name them all, but I play through the entire catalog multiple times a year. They were some of the first games I played as a kid and when you know them all like the back of your hand they only take a couple hours, tops. They’re great for when you’ve got a spare evening to kill and even though theres no challenge anymore it’s worth it just for all the classic art and stories.
