That probably isn't too far from the truth. If I may power level for just a second. While it's already established that Barb will be cremated (and it's already paid for), is it possible for CWC to get a refund before she dies? I'm sure CWC has quite a few "alternative investment ideas" for that cremation money.
I worked in the mortuary biz for a little while. One of my favourite things to do was ask some of the old timers about the craziest shit they'd seen ( and this was the type of job that was full of crazy shit stories." This one guy tells me that the county brought in an elderly gentleman's body that was badly burned. But that wasn't the worst of it. His body was caked and fused with melted rubber that had sticks, pebbles and other assorted garbage stuck to it. He asked what had happened and apparently this old codger had asked his son to have him cremated when he died. Rather than splurge on the $450 (at the time) cremation that came with the BBQ and a tin box with a vacuum sealed ash bag he decided he was going to give his dad a Viking funeral. And this consisted of putting him on a raft (a single person rubber raft from K-Mart), dousing him with gas, setting him alight and floating him on the river. Well the flames burst the raft right away and the water extinguished the flames. He drags dad and the deflated raft on to the shore and dumps the rest of the gas on him and relights. This only succeeded in burning most of the clothes and hair off and melting the rubber in to his dad's remains. He ran out of gas and when he tried to put other garbage on him to keep the fire going it just fizzled since it was so wet. The rubber had a fire retardant in it so it would just melt and not burn. It was a mess.
I haven't checked in a while but when I did it seemed like the average for a cheap cremation with a spreading urn (cheap box) was about $800. That amount of cash can but a lot of bullshit infused crystals and Lego. I not going to assume seeking a cremation refund had crossed Chris's mind but I do wonder. I just hope he doesn't end up burning down 14 BC again before the bank can take possession of it.
