I question this because this style is extremely ugly and disgusting to look at. Why do they always have carrots for nipples poking through the shirt? Why the ugly makeup? Why are the women's faces so tiny and mashed up? Why the grotesque fat bodies? Why the saggy tits?

I've thought about this, too. Boomers really seemed to love the ugliest, grossest shit they could get their hands on, and that's not even limited to porn. Look at family band album covers from the 70s, and there's a nonzero chance you'll find one with the whole family naked in a brown indoor hot tub with the implication that they're all fucking each other. Everything about their culture was disgusting and coated in pubic hair.

That said, it should be pointed out that almost all of the animation cels you provided are by a single Jew. I don't think it's a stretch to say that Jewish mutants have strange and aesthetically repulsive sexual proclivities, and that they effectively used them to pervert an entire generation.

you had this period in the 50s and 60s where everything was trying to be super crisp and clean, geometric, and clearly definable, which was kind of a long-term post-ww2 evolution of art deco and german expressionism. chuck jones cartoons, etc. The soviets at this time went from being a bunch of shoeless slavs to suddenly putting out a lot of very high quality, very artsy, very... norman rockwell kind of homely and sentimental stuff laser focused on appealing to your grandma when she was young. So 1970s has the rise of andy warhol and weird shitty abstract art that was trying to be the complete opposite of the homeley sentimentalism and geometric aesthetics - round, organic, flat shading, misshapen, with jarring color schemes. Visual noise and overstimulation. Sex. Nudity. Body hair.

I think a great example of what i'm talking about is the last five beatles album covers from the late 60's, they went from being very crisp and clean and 'following the rules' and then just puked everywhere

I've always thought that A Clockwork Orange always had the subtext of criticizing postmodern aesthetics from this era, because it's such a visually engrossing but fucking UGLY movie that spends an inordinate amount of time lingering on really unique but really disturbing and uncomfortable art and visual design

It absolutely is pornographic in nature. Do you think its not porn because the authors didn't make it to be porn or because you cannot imagine people getting off to it? I think this wouldn't be shocking and subversive enough as other commenters have pointed out if it didn't appeal to the people of the time in some way. Like, if I went back in time and showed an english peasant a picture of minecraft porn, I don't think it would phase him. It's a bunch of fucking blocks in a style that is completely alien to him.
If you want something to be shocking only in the way smut can be shocking, it needs to resonate as something they'd actually jork it to, at least a little bit. For example, do you consider this shocking:

Probably not, and likely for the same reason I don't consider it shocking: it is so far removed from what would be considered "usable porn".
Besides, at least Robert Crumb was very much into the bloated body types he drew.

This, and a few other of the images in OP, are by Robert Crumb. It’s his personal fetish, muscular women with clunky boots, thick calves, and round asses. He married a woman who looked vaguely like this. This might even be based on her.

As for why it’s all so ugly—porn had a different reputation back then. You had to go to a seedy part of town to see a porno, and sit with other men masturbating in the dark. For the porn itself, production values were low and the technology was primitive. A lot of it was produced by organized crime.

Porn was cheap, seedy, dirty, ugly, tawdry. If someone liked porn, it’s because they found that sexy. They got off on the context, like a heroin user romanticizing the needle.

Porn moves in lockstep with culture. In our culture, we get hypnotized by infinite scroll social media showing impossibly perfect other realities. And so we invent “gooning.” Same thing.
