I made a prison spread that I saw on YouTube.

Do not attempt this, it doesn't taste good even from a meme junk slop perspective.

It's like an intentionally ghetto version of tuna salad or a walking taco/nachos. For the same effort and expense, you could do:
- pre-flavored tuna packets + crackers + mayo
- taco meat packets + fritos/corn chips + cheese

(Obviously actual ground beef + taco seasoning would be better, but as a 1:1 comparison, they literally make shelf-stable packets of "taco meat")

been making homemade buttermilk biscuits lately on the weekends for weekday breakfast. first batch from a month ago

second batch from a couple weeks ago

we froze the extras & thawed some out this morning for an ez breakfast. i don’t have a biscuit cutter so i just shove the top of a mason jar on the dough. Also burnt the bottoms of some of second batch bc im retarded & put parchment paper on a pizza pan with holes in the bottom

In an effort to get rid of some of the copious amount of bacon grease in my house I made donuts. They came out good, if a little sweet for my taste. After consolidation and filtering I still have almost a half gallon of bacon grease to use up. :stress:

Currently smoking some chicken thighs seasoned with McCormick's Applewood rub and Bourbon/Brown Sugar seasoning.

I did also make this barbecue sauce, as well as a similar one that swaps white vinegar for apple cider vinegar, as well as white sugar for brown sugar.

EDIT: I do find the one with apple cider vinegar and brown sugar to be better balanced flavor wise. The one with white vinegar and white sugar just has a sour and spicy note.

Made some rice pudding by just eyeing it with some long grain rice I had froze for meal prep. Was very straight forward and delicious.
  • Boiled some milk, sugar, vanilla extract for ~10 minutes
  • Cut up a banana
  • Beat an egg with a bit of milk on the side
  • Added the frozen rice cubes with everything else in the pot to mix up
I probably should have threw the rice in the microwave for 30 seconds as it took a while for it to break up. This will be my go to desert for a while. I will just swap fruit with what I have on hand. No baking, easy cleanup, and delicious.

Finishing up a batch of chicken stroganoff using a flashlight, because storms heavy here and light's out

Decided to go heavy with onions and honey on this one

Mostly nothing special - made my typical roasted chicken thighs with some roasted broccoli, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. That said, instead of boiling the potatoes for the mash this time, I decided to bake them first. You do miss out on being able to season them via aggressively salting the boiling water, but the potato flavor is way more intense with baked potatoes as a base and you get to add more dairy to make up for the lower moisture content of baked potatoes vs boiled ones.

Highly recommended.

I actually saw a video from Fallow about making mashed potatoes this way, and they compensate it with more butter. I'd do this on the regular but butter's expensive where i live

I made that Matthew McConaughey tuna salad that went viral ~a year ago:

I shouldn't have doubted the "alright alright alright" man, he knows how to make a damn good tuna salad. I figured the tuna + apple combo would be disgusting but that mixed with jalapeno and wasabi goes so well.

It's even better with some chopped toasted pecans mixed in - adds a nice round nutty note and crunchy texture.

Apple is surprisingly versatile, I've learned recently. With the right recipe it can work alongside onion and Bleu cheese, or turkey and lettuce, or a pork roast, or even mixed into scrambled eggs. It can be tough to incorporate alongside other things if you're not having it raw, though, since it takes so long to cook down and soften

Recently had a fun night in while drinking a lot of beer.. I make a sukiyaki hotpot with crown daisy, cabbage, beef (hanwoo.. iykyk) , and eomuk. The broth I made with leeks and garlic I fry in tallow.. soy sauce, dashi, mirin, and sake.. also made a dipping sauce with yuja juice and ginger.. very delicious. Obviously I drink TsingTao and ate oranges for dessert

I got sick so I ate a lot of garlic yesterday. I baked it, mixed with cream cheese and used as a spread on a baguette.
PSA: don't do this. As delicious as it was I'm pretty sure I've lost like 10% of my body weight the next day. Sore throat may be disappearing, but now I'm in my bead teary eyed and washed of any life left in me.
