in the olsen twins movies usually one would be a tomboy and one wouldnt. this is how you would tell them apart.

If they're going extinct, it's the fault of people like the ones OP tagged.
It's no different from how the TERFs are major players in why trannies overall exist, because they're as obsessed with identity/labels and what's between people's legs as the trannies are, they just somehow think they're different because they say they are even though they think and see the world in exactly the same profoundly fucked up way.

Girls that have interests associated with men like cars, video games, technology, and science or sports and have an attitude that is conducive to hanging out with dudes that most women just don't or can't. They can have the short hair or fashion sense of men, but I think thay over complicates it since you are confusing aesthetics with the core definition. I've seen tomboys that dress up like girls for the most part but ate very clearly tomboys. It's more a label about the girl's personality rather than a particular fashion statement, although women that dress up like your average teenage or 20 something year old dude tend to be tomboys in some way shape or form in one way or the other.

For a similar reason, sexuality has nothing to do with it and this is why most people seem to think tomboys are lesbians when they probably are straight. All the ones I met IRL were just regular girls who were sexually attracted to boys but also could hang out with them and understand them to be friends to hang out with IRL.

Tomboys are women with stereotypically "masculine" interests who aren't harebrained enough to chop off their tits or describe themselves as "non-binary". Often athletes, cowgirls, mechanics, etc.

Women who have interests in traditionally masculine topics, aren't afraid of getting dirty, very down to earth, natural, modest individuals.

The key to the tomboy is that they understand they are female and this segregates them from typical men and women. They understand none can change the body they were born with. The tomboy makes do with what they have and perseveres against all odds.

Girls who are into shit I like instead of gay shit homos and other women like, thus wont tell me to stop wasting money/time on my hobbies so we can go and buy clothes for her and instead will partake in said hobbies because she also likes cool stuff

Tomboys are the only way you can get that and not have to fuck a dude's hairy ass, because vagina and tiddies

It's probably a gradient with age, acting more like boys when they're kids and when they're older they become more feminine but retain masculine interests in their own way. You'll probably have some that go into MMA like Miesha Tate but most will just have more average interests that trend masculine but don't require them to be men, think guns for example.
