Vermintide 2 after the 2.0 patch. Holy fucking shit, they fucked it up.
Kruber's entire skilltree was revised and now exclusively revolves around Stagger. Formerly, you could build Kruber either around damage reduction or around blocking and stamina, now all you have is either a new and awkward stagger mechanic or shit skills that are entirely pointless.
In order to stagger an enemy reliably, you need to pick a weapon with the "Crowd Control" trait and 90% of those suck ass. The only viable one seems to be the Mace and Shield.
The patch also introduces skills that actually nerf you when you pick them. Kruber has a damage reduction aura for his allies. You can choose a skill that takes away that aura in exchange for 10% more power score, which tops out at 300 on veteran anyway, so if I see things right, I'm looking at 30 more power (if that bonus even allows me to go above 300) but in exchange, my party gets more damage. Amazing. I become less useful for the team and I don't even know if the supposed bonus actually can exceed the top limit.
Now you know why /vg/ calls the developer FatShit instead of FatShark. You have to go out of your way to fuck up a cooperative PVE game that was already working.

Yoku's Island Express, $19.99(or semi-free in my case) is a pinball game similar to Sonic Spinball, with some metroidvania elements. The controls are pretty basic, you can move left & right with your analog stick, and left & right triggers activate all blue and yellow flippers & bumpers on screen respectively. The entire game is one large series of interconnected tables and chutes, with a town hub, side quests, fast travel that can be unlocked, and additional movement perks to earn(like a grappling mechanic on certain flowers and a dive button in water where you would otherwise float) as progression.

The game is set in a watercolored, kid-friendly nature island similar to Ori & The Blind Forest, and your character is a small dung beetle pushing a pinball instead of a turd in a semi-cutesy, semi-Grimm's atmosphere. As an adult, it feels pretty fair with some of the taller climbing segments and I'm constantly making progress at a satisfying rate. There's a map that gets filled in but the amount of directions you could go is almost daunting. Good achievements to chase, chill soundtrack but nothing amazing. Ball physics are above average, you can pretty consistently make shots that visually make sense if you have any reflexes at all. No deaths, the very minor penalty for draining a ball completely is falling through a path of thorns and dropping a few "fruits," the island's currency for unlocking new paths/fast travel points/minor upgrades, which is easily earned back by bouncing on a few bumpers.

I never see modern games mixing these two genres, so I highly recommend it even if you are turned off by the setting or presentation like I was initially. Go beg for a free key in the giveaway thread if you're interested, try the demo, or just buy it yourself, you should get a good 10-15 hours out of it, and it's fun enough to replay in 6 months to a year.

Gets even worse. I originally said that the only viable weapon seems to be the Mace and Shield. . . turns out that's shit, too.
Stagger means I get Bonus Damage on enemies the more they get staggered by attacks. Since I kill regular enemies in 2 hits anyway, that means the Bonus Damage does jackshit. Who cares if I punch that enemy down to -10 HP or down to -100HP, he's dead either way.
Gets especially funny when you consider that all Crowd Control weapons lack the "Armor Piercing" quality for balancing reasons (and vice versa), so the enemy types like Stormvermin, Chaos Warriors etc where I would benefit from Bonus Damage are immune to my attacks unless I hit a weakspot like the head, which I won't be able to do with the mace, since it swings left and right, never from above.

I've tested it a bit, maybe I am missing something, but Vermintide 2 has become virtually unplayable for me, since I really like Kruber and I have little interest in playing the other characters...

Which brings me to my next point; currently playing: Kingdom Come Deliverance. Time to catch up on that game, bought it when it came out and played it like a madman for 100+ hours, but still haven't finished the campaign...

Going for 100% of everything completion in Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Weapons, accessories, collectables, Tier 1, everything.
I'm pretty excited for Breakpoint, so this'll pass the time until then. Bloused boots and decent vehicle controls at last.
 
Starting up Front Mission 3 and Legend of Dragoon to see which I actually want to play through. Played a bit of LoD and I forgot just how slow the combat in the game is. So probably gonna bounce between one of those two and KSP since the I haven't tried the last update that came out for it.
 
Tried emulating Shadow Hearts 1, but I couldn't really find a work around for the slowdown, so I bought a used copy and waiting for it to arrive.

So far, it seems like an interesting game. Having to go and calm down evil spirits periodically due to the way random fights work is an interesting mechanic both gameplay and story wise.
 
Currently playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

I previously could never seem to get into an AC game (I tried 2, 3, and Black Flag), with me usually getting bored of them within the first few hours. This one, though, I'm enjoy so far.

The two biggest complaints I've seen leveled at the game are:
1) Needing to grind for levels and materials. I'm playing on the PC and know how to use Cheat Engine, so I doubt this'll be much of a problem for me.

2) Quests becoming repetitive. This I can definitely see becoming a problem given how immensely big this game is. On the first island alone I've already cleared out four bandit strongholds and feel like the game doesn't properly reward you for it.

I've seen a lot of comparisons between this and the Witcher 3, particularly why clearing out enemy strongholds in the latter is fine while being a chore in the former. I think the reason for that is pretty obvious. In TW3 often when you clear-out a bandit stronghold or a monster nest the place gets repopulated by NPCs, opening up new merchants, a fast-travel point, and a place to rest. When you clear an area in Odyssey... nothing happens. In fact, enemies usually just re-spawn for a quest.

Then there's the loot. TW3's loot was mostly trash but witcher gear managed to help at least partially salvage it. The witcher gear had unique appearances and gave special, powerful bonuses, making them something you actually wanted to track down and build. Odyssey's nearest equivalent seems to be Legendary Sets, which look to be mostly end game equipment, unlike witcher gear which you progressed with throughout the entire game, helping to make exploration and questing more rewarding. Legendary equipment also looks to be largely just re-skinned regular armor with generic (but large) stat bonuses.

Lastly, the way the main plot in Odyssey is kicked off annoys me, mostly because the game doesn't give the PC much motivation to start it. Essentially a shady stranger asks you to go kill someone halfway around the world and the protagonist basically just goes, "Yeah, okay."

Great game. I wish more RPGs went for that dark/horror vibe. My only complaint about the game is that it's not really that long.

Second game is good too. Much more content, and builds on a lot of the stuff from the first game. They dropped most of the horror stuff though and amped up the comedy aspect.

Amen. Plus, the game even had a sense of humor. Shadow Hearts was such a breath of fresh air when nearly every single new JRPG being released was a bunch of pretentious bullshit.

It would do so well today if it got a rerelease.
 
Neofeud. Point & Click Adventure with a cyberpunk flair. I like it but the story is a bit too left-wing preachy. The art style was off-putting at first but I grew to like it. It needs some polish on unintuitive mechanics for moving in a couple spots. If you like old style adventure games and its cheap Id say try it out.
 
I actually made a list of games I wanted to complete this Summer. I had a few new games plus some of my backlog. So I'm playing them and alternating between them.

These are:

-Bound by flame.
-Omnilink
-Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.

Liking all of them so far.
 
still playing team fortress 2 after like 9 years. i also got back into the friday the 13th game, super fucking fun even though it's still a buggy mess and the devs are shit
 
Metal Wolf Chaos, it's nice to have menus I can read this time around, some weird clipping with cutscenes I don't remember as being right but I'm not about to get my xbox out of storage to find out.
 
Dwarf Fortress. Currently constructing methods to trap titans and forgotten beasts so I can unleash them upon my foes, though I doubt they'll be particularly effective. Once the goblins finally start attacking I'm going to get the humans to declare war since there's no good source of metal at my embark so going to get sieges to bring it all to me. And getting the elves to declare war will simply be a pleasant bonus.
