100% agree, a good soundtrack is a major pillar in what makes a game good. It's like removing the laugh track from a halfbaked sitcom, it suddenly becomes stiff and awkward. In a game, if the music doesn't fit the scene, it becomes flat and difficult to immerse yourself with.

I always appreciated what Saints Row, even the later games, tried to do with the gunplay and melee even if 3 and 4 felt nerfed compared to 2. You gotta have good, fun gunplay when it's essentially a game about gunplay.

I do not recall the atmosphere clearing up but that does make sense when I look back on what I remember vividly from Saints Row 2. That's a neat little detail, making the Saints a "good" gang vs the three other gangs who are clearly corrupt and morally evil. Ironic considering my previous example when Gat very clearly kills a 18-19 year old kid by burying him alive.
Man, now I wish my xbox 360 wasn't halfway dead. I wanna replay SR2 now. The PC port is allegedly shit (:_(
I'm trying the PC port - using the Juiced mod kinda irons out some kinks and once you get used to driving on the board like we all used to do way back in the day, it becomes pretty palatable. I can always fire up my PS3, but that would be a last resort and merit getting a new controller battery/dig up a long enough mini-B cable. Granted no DLC, but I don't think I had any on the PS3 either.

Gunplay feels GREAT with a mouse btw. It's icing on the cake for me despite having tractor vehicle controls that make heli races something to get used to.

Oh, that's great to know. I'd prefer to play my library of ancient games on their respective platforms but it's good that we have an option to get on PC. It sucks that we have to rely on fan creations to make it happen, but it's still an option. I'll have to put it on my GOG wishlist, allegedly it is better than the steam version. Weird how often that's the case with older games.

Honestly, it's really a miracle there even was a PC port especially given the era of everything hot being console exclusive.

I've been replaying the metal gear solid series in chronological order lately. Just beat Peace Walker. I was gonna play V, but it just looks/feels so soulless in comparison to the preceding MGS titles. Probably just going to go straight to MGS instead. Maybe I'll play just the main ops after replaying mgs4. MG and MG2 can stay far away, lol.

Last time I played SR2 I used Gentlemen of the Row, and I had a pretty good 10-15 hour whack at it with no crashing or any other issues from what I could tell. It has options for a lot of modifications, but you can decline all those as you go through installation.

I really like the wallpapery thing for GotR, I photoshopped the image to cut out the heraldry, did some bits and pieces and got a shirt printed for the movie club I used to go to (still have the shirt, when I get home from work in a couple hours I'll deliver a pic)

EDIT 1: also I've been rebuying shit on GoG because they're supported better than Steam. Idk if Saints 2 has got the full treatment, but as an e.g. I picked up old ResiEvil3 through GoG and it has tons of fixes and modernization patches and shit applied, has working RE3 Mercenaries (which I've never got to play) and supports modern controllers, etc.

EDIT2:

Oooh I remember reading about GotR before, I like that it's a former Volition dev who made it. Shame that they had to stop making it, I guess DMCA/NDA reasons.

It's kinda weird that GoG versions of old games tend to be better but I guess they're called Good Old Games for a reason.
RE3 is a diamond in the rough and I can't help but love the original trilogy and all of its hamfisted cheesiness. Nemesis is so much scarier when you have tank controls.

Notwithstanding a couple of exceptions, I mostly agree with the "piracy is a service/value issue" thing.

I'm no stranger to manually fixing things and modding things and then having to re-fix issues with the mods -- but for that exact reason, a service that reliably does all that shit for me (plus I can upload the installers to local storage and share shit like UT1999/2004 with friends) is enough of a value proposition to get even my miserly lower-class ass to buy some things a second time. I've seen a lil bit about the goglins behind the scenes, and they strike me as people who do actually have some kind of passion for and do give a shit about old games, they get dressed up around the office for big/notorious releases and shit.

Gotta love those Poles, even if the rest of CD Projekt should go die in a fire because of their Bridge/DEI bullshit. I know CDPR and CDP should be considered separate but at the end of the day it's the same mother company.

Just finished Pillars of Eternity and starting up Pillars of Eternity 2, first playthrough of both. Got PoE2 during that recent steam sale

Finally got back to Darksiders 3. This game is so poorly optimised and my PC is so shit I spent several days trouble shooting, ending up with me cleaning my PC and shockingly it badly needed cleaning so win-win I guess.
Gluttony has to be the easiest boss in the entire game, and it's one of the last Sins to kill. Now my next goal is to backtrack and collect collectibles if I want to 100% this. I'm almost tempted to just get through everything but the collectibles and just spoof it, this game is so bad man. And I love Metroidvanias and Soulslikes. I just absolutely hate games that want to be collectathons but also features extremely bad levels on a design and aesthetic level, there are little to no clear landmarks and a ton of similar looking pathways and objects clustered around everywhere.

I'm needing a more lighthearted and funny game to take my mind off of life in general, I'm taking suggestions. I recently purchased Shantae: Risky's Revenge(already played it years ago but I can't remember 99% of it), Half-genie hero and The Pirates Curse, I recovered my shoddy living dex from the pokemon bank on my 3DS, and I'm of half a mind to restart either Animal Crossing New Leaf or New Horizons (or both) for some daily low effort fun. Other recommendations are welcome.

I wanted to go back and play Dead Rising 2, but I never played the original game because I only owned PlayStation consoles growing up. I picked up the original game for $15 and instead of getting the regular DR2 I picked up off the record. It was on sale for $5 so for $20 total I get all the Frank West zombie killing I want.

I don't care how lame and normie I am, I really liked the South Park RPGs, Stick of Truth and Feactured But Whole. I had a such a good time with them. I don't even like South Park anymore but I can easily play those any day. They're kind of comfy, no matter what awful retarded shit might be happening.

If you for some reason didn't play Portal 1&2 back in the day, go for it now. Fun problem solving with cool narration and neat atmosphere.

I actually have all four installed on my pc atm. I've been meaning to replay portal 2 and I never finished p1 despite it being a classic.
Stick of Truth I haven't played in YEARS but I remember having a lot of fun with it. I need to 100% it.

Even though I have hundreds of new games that I have accumulated for free or as gifts, I tend to play the same shit over and over. I decided to try something completely new, FPV drone simulators. At first I found it impossible to even move. I could take off and drift in a direction until I tried to roll or pitch which meant instant crash. I almost bossmanjacked my keyboard in frustration. I actually yelled at my screen.

I was using some crazy expensive DJI controller that a friend let me borrow, supposedly it cost 200USD but compared to my 25$ 8bitdo controller it looks like a toy. You cannot use self centering sticks when flying ACRO/FPV so I decided to buy my own radio controller, I went with something much cheaper, and better.

I am still crashing, I can barely move in a straight line, and turning with precision is still impossible. So I start looking up videos with real pilots, learn that I am holding the controller like a retard. Instead of thumbing it like a gamepad, you have to pinch the sticks like you're twisting someone's nipples. Okay this feels retarded and counterintuitive. Whatever, I practice for a few hours giving my RC a purple nurple. Suddenly it clicks, I can aim the drone where I want it to go and keep it there. Pinching the sticks actually makes a huge difference, with two points of contact it's much easier for you to learn control via muscle memory. It's much more precise. I learn about rates and how to adjust my expo.

Now I can fly at 180km/s through a pipe without even glancing the props and hit a 12 inch gap on the bottom of a power loop.

Today I built my first actual physical fpv drone. It's only a a little micro 3" weighing just under 100 grams with a 4s punch. Hopefully I don't slice any babies faces off when I fly it.

I played multiple sims, I found uncrashed to be the most fun for multiplayer racing, but lift off is where I learned how to actually fly, and while the graphics aren't as nice as uncrashed, lift off is better made.
