They once came to protest at my college once because our president was a lesbian. It wasn't a lot of them, just the really hardcore ones, but Sheirley Phelps and her older children were there. They were so bizarre. It was well below freezing and they stood there all day. The thing that I remember most though, was this one kid they had with them. He was like ten or eleven, I don't know, but all he had on was a beanie hat, a fleece pullover, work boots and jeans. No gloves or overcoat. He was shivering so hard from the cold his legs were spasming. He kept trying to hold his sign in one hand at a time so he could bundle the other hand in his pocket for warmth. But every time he did that, the sign would droop and Shirley would yell at him to pick it up. A lot of students were going up to them and offering warm clothes to the kid, but they refused to accept them. He would scream "fag! fag! Fairy Fag!" over and over, but his teeth were chattering so hard it didn't even sound like words.

Shirley Phelps and the other adults all had parkas, hats, earmuffs, gloves, scarves and proper boots.

When that fuck Fred finally does drop, I'd like to decorate his grave with so many gay and American flags that the headstone is obscured. Sad to say I live in the same state as him. :C

It's simply awful how they made that kid stand outside without proper clothing, could they actually be fined by child services for doing that? Because I know that in Canada if children don't come to school with weather apporpriate clothes faculty can call child services and they'll investigate why the kid wasn't wearing the proper clothes.

They haven't been in the news in a long time so that kid was probably just a tool to try and get them back in the media.

The worst thing that ever happened with these guys was that they got some attention and now they think they're hot shit. In reality they should be thankful that they live in a country where people have to be generally tolerant in public. Some places in the world their particular brand of BS would get them beat up or lynched.

Re: Westboro Baptist Church

They're banned from some countries with strict hate speech laws, so the US is the only country where they can get away with this crap.

I love how Phelps claims to be a Prophet. But that steaming pile of shit hasn't bothered risking his life to spread his "Word of God" like all the other Prophets in the Bible. Besides the BS about homosexuality, I cannot take him seriously when he's not putting his life for "God" like how Samuel, Elijah, and Jesus did as their lives were threatened with the lack of protection from the law. He is a coward through and through. I'd love to see him try to do it in a country where his ass gets kicked for his views. It will be utterly glorious.

But yes, I know. We have to be civil. However, I will laugh at his failure regardless.

Indeed we do have to be civil but it doesn't mean we can't complain or laugh at the idiocy and hatred of Fred Phelps. Seeing as how he claims to be a prophet, one can imagine how his cowardice would affect him if he is in a country where he gets his comeuppance for his views. I can imagine him being assaulted with :pickle: and I mean the kind that Chris hates if you get what I'm saying. :tomgirl:

The kids in the church suffer a lot. I watched a few documentaries about the church and each one shows more and more of how fucked up these children are. They're practically alienated at their school. At most, some of them just have "a few aquaintances" no close friends or anything like that. The adults treat them like shit too, they're forced into doing the protests against their will. Most of the younger ones admit that they don't care about being there, and they don't understand what they're doing it for. They tend to get caught up in the drama too, I saw in one video that some guy drove by in a car and threw a McDonald's cup at a kid, he was completely drenched in soda in like, 50 degree weather and the adults were just like "you're fine, get back to your spot".

As much as I loath WBC, that is rather cruel to do to a kid, throwing a McDonalds cup at a kid in 50 degree weather. These kids don't know why they do this other than being told to and someone who doesn't like WBC thinks "Hey, let's make these kids suffer as well, they are part of WBC herp-a-derp." Honestly, did that guy feel like :ween: ? Just because the kid is a part of this group doesn't mean he deserves that.

Showing alienation and cruelty to the children of WBC just reinforces the church's notion to them that the outside world is a horrible place, and therefore it encourages the children to stay in that "church." In reality, WBC is the horrible place and the outside world is the nicer place. Would anyone really want the WBC offspring to stay stuck in that cult just because they would think we're the people with the fucked up ideals? It's a cruel cycle, really.

Hopefully all those kids grow to realize that their way of life sucks monkey balls and that gay people are generally OK people and then they begin anew somewhere else.

That's actually EXACTLY how they see it. They have this whole mentality that they're the cosen ones who are fighting against the ignorance of society or some bullshit like that. They tend to act pretty snobbish to anyone who isn't with the church, atleast from what I've seen anyways.

Ya know something, Fred Phelps? The Hulkster can tell you are afraid. The Hulkster can see the fear in your eyes, man. You are afraid to face the truth. Look into the Hulkster's eyes, man. The truth is inside the Hulkster. The truth is inside each of my Hulkamaniacs, man. With the training, the prayers and the vitamins, every Hulkamaniac is becoming the best they can be. But instead, brother, you are letting your hatred define you. Your hatred is consuming you, man. That is why at the Royal Rumble, the Hulkster is challenging YOU to a steel cage match for the World Wrestling Federation Championship, man. Because you do not follow the demandments of Hulkamania, with the training, the prayers and the vitamins, you will be in that cage alone. But the Hulkster will have all the little hulksters cheering him on, and be able to draw power from them. It is time for you to face the truth and the wrath of Hulkamania. AND WHATCHA GONNA DO, FRED PHELPS, WHEN THESE 24 INCH PYTHONS, RUN WILD ON YOU?!

Hallefuckinlujah ....it seems that finally....FINALLY there has come a reckoning to the disgusting cuntstain who started this

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/...helps-of-Westboro-Baptist-Protests-Near-Death

Freddy is not only slowly dying, but he is dying alone and forcibly cut off from his entire family who have fucking excommunicated him for some unknown reason, but given how the family is actively preventing others from visiting him as he lies shitting himself in his hospice, i can only speculate that his offspring finally decided to get revenge for what he did to them as kids, or maybe he tried to revive his obsession with physical and emotional cruelty with his great-grandkids now hes being ignored by the world again and finally someone stood up to him in the compound.

Dying slowly and alone, utterly decrepid and powerless, after having everything he worked to create in his life reject him. I honestly hope he lingers for a good few years in agony before he finally snuffs it

Finally that fuck Phelps is gonna die. Burn in hell, you sick asscunt. No one even likes you.

I wonder why they excommunicated him. Did he shows signs of regret for his actions? (not bloody likely) Or maybe it's because he got cancer and sought medical attention instead of waiting for god to fix his problems? Or maybe his family found that if he wasn't immortal, he wasn't fit to lead 'gawd's chosen church'?

So many questions.

Same here, I want to know why they finally wanted to kick him out after so goddamn long.

Because they need a reason to protest just about every funeral
