I still find it hilarious and extremely ironic that Fred Phelps started out as a civil rights attorney.
 
Let's start a petition to get Fred Phelps to come out of the closet guys
 
Hopefully at least one person hangs out for a bit outside the hospital (maybe during a lunch break or something) with a "God Hates Fred Phelps" sign.
 
I seriously want to know what he did to get booted by his family. I realize they're all a bunch of hatemongering loons who won't hesitate to axe people from their cult for the tiniest of transgressions, but they revered that old fart like a fucking god. Part of me hopes he was having a change of heart as his began to peter out on him, and he was prepared to apologize to the world or reveal things about the family that they don't necessarily want revealed--like Grandpa totally loves dick or something.

Also, in a fit of totally uncharacteristic pacifism, I hope no one protests his funeral. Not only because that would just make the gay-rights side sink to their level of asshole, but also because ignoring the fuck out of it would be the first step on the road to letting these people sink into obscurity.

I'd agree with you on that. Protesting his funeral could only not only make the gay-rights side sink into the WBC level of being a jerk but it could also reinforce whatever "us vs. them" mentality WBC has if they will still be around after Phelps kicks the bucket. For all we know, one of them might take up the position as a leader after Fred was excommunicated. Besides they do need to sink into obscurity. They don't need anymore acknowledgements or notice.
 
Well, the daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper has been the one in charge for at least the last five years. Phred Felps has been in failing health for a long time and not really able to do much active RL trolling as the rest of 'em. She seems like the most logical heir to the throne of GodHatesFags.
 
Why do I have the feeling that before that waste of carbon dies he'll (attempt to) pull one last hateful shenanigan? Kinda as a way of saying 'fuck you' to everyone.
 
Fresh Phelps is the grestest trickester of out lifetome.
He managed to make an entire hate group and make people think they are legitmate haters when in reality
it's a bunch of lawyers getting profit from angry liberals
 
I actually remembered this hilarious yet condescending statement that they have about the internet:

"The internet was made for us to actually spread the word of God."

Maybe all that hateful vitriol decreased his lifespan. All that high blood pressure...
 
The WBC is such a perfect and complete caricature of everything the left imagines their opposition to be that I have often seriously contemplated the possibility that they are just some sort of invented foil that leftists created.

I mean it would be like if there were a group of gay transvestites from San Fransisco who wanted to make abortion mandatory for all Christian women and went around burning American flags and desecrating war memorials.

If there was a group like that wouldn't you suspect that they were just a made up invented group by right-wingers making a caricature of their opposition?
