I keep getting fed videos about Jeff Nippard and I don't get it. I guess people don't like the "science based" marketing. I guess he's changing up his routine?
Yeah, he apparently did a video that basically admitted that lower volume training than what the pencil necks had been recommending was good. Something like he did 10 heavier sets per muscle group per week for like 6 months and got better results. It would be just another one of his retarded “I did X for Y days and this is what happened!” videos, except for two things.

First, he was part of the insane high volume crowd. Essentially Brad Schoenfeld did an awful study a few years ago that claimed you could get as good or better results using 40-50 sets per muscle group per week. And the rest of the evidence based crowd ran with it, sucking his dick and recommending that insane high volume to everyone. Nippard included. There was also some other drama, but it just appears like a huge about face by Nippard after years of other saying his volume recommendations were way too high.
Second, the above combines that with a lot of people already souring on him, and that’s what’s causing what you’re seeing.
It’s retarded, but so is a lot of YouTube fitness.

That guy really started getting on my nerves. Just lift heavy ass weight lmao

Posting non-slop strength training content. I take notes from old people who haven't managed to cripple themselves or die from an enlarged heart at 50.

The guy is strong for an old man but all I can find about him is mostly grip strength stuff. Not the good kind like rock climbers get, but the parlor trick kind that anyone can do once they know how. That and he wrote a book about exclusively cable exercises and apparently invented rapidly moving two ropes up and down.

Grip strength is good but I don't know anyone who actually trains it except for climbers/boulderers, and some combat sport athletes. Otherwise the grip you get from just lifting like normal is fine,

The fact can prop himself up on one arm, "standing" on a wall, while pulling that rope with the other arm at 70yo demonstrates good body integrity and longevity imo. He's doing whole body complex exercises, not rice bucket training and arm-wrestler stuff. What is the point of fitness? For me it's to avoid decaying into a cripple, for others it's a journey to snap city. Ronnie Coleman is basically a fent-zombie who hasn't taken a shit in days.

Ronnie Coleman hurt his back multiple times from football and from powerlifting while contest prepping then instead of doing anything about it he decided to ignore it for a decade instead of fixing a horrible herniated disc. His hypertrophy training wasn't the cause. Granted I don't think he gives much lifting advice anyways because he's more of a vibes guy and because he's essentially a steroid hyper responder. Granted every Mr. Olympia is a steroid hyper responder. I don't take too much stock in what genetically blessed steroid users say work because they're working with different tools.

I got back into lifting a few weeks ago and it was going pretty well until this week when I think I strained my hip flexors. My routine is below, do you guys think I'm doing too much lower body or do I just have bad form?
All lifts are 5x5's
Monday
Squat
Bench Press
Pullups
Romanian Deadlift

Wednesday
Dips
Chinups
Glute Bridge
Kettlebell Swing

Friday
Front Squat
Incline Bench Press
Sumo Deadlift
Hanging Knee Raise

Man this has been a good lifting/health year, I’ve been hitting the gym 6 days a week and I’ve lost a shitload of weight

Props to my peeps in this thread, I’ve really appreciated y’all’s insights

Happy Halloween

One thing I notice is on the Wednesday you have glute bridge and kettlebell swings, both exercises target the posterior chain so maybe you could switch one out to a squat or leg press variation to keep it the same as the other days. Maybe you are getting a little bit of a muscle imbalance that's throwing off your hips, or one side of the muscles are tighter.

This shit keeps me posting. I'm so happy for you dude. I've always been very anti social with my work outs and all. I'm not the shyst person irl but I just can't talk to people working out or want to talk about it.

I want the best for people and working out makes me a better me, you are killing it and I'm thrilled for you dude.

I found too many yummy places and gonna try the very hard winter cut lol. I love Halloween, I legit lost a few lbs laughing. Kids are so easy to make happy. They love "correcting" an adult. I saw a little Iron man and said oh cool batman! He laughed and told me he was Iron man, I said oh then fly... little dude was fast my boosters are low power. hooked little nigga up with 3 full size twix. I kept the reese cups in freezer that didn't get eaten lol.

I think while our workouts are different time, and goals fact Mrs and I both lift really helps. She's close to 40 and passes for mid 20s.

I kinda want to try some retard shit like ozempic and dbol... I wouldn't be hungry so just proteins shakes?

I started reta a couple weeks ago. It feels great. Food noise is down, no side effects on 1mg. Going to 2mg next dose. Never going to do anabolics, I'm holding on to my hairline too well for my age to throw it all away. Also just started mixing HMB with my creatine and boy does it fucking taste bad.

Just incorporated ez bar skullcrushers into my workout. I've been doing just pushdowns and was running into loading issues with the plate stacks at my gym. Oh my god, these are so much better than pushdowns. They feel great, and I can tell they absolutely hit hit more of my tricep more effectively. Highly recommend them.

That's sick bro! I don't touch roids often. My first run in a few years. D bol is fucking awesome, and just don't get drunk you're good. I'm not trying to push anything.

I've always had a 5 head but I'm not greying at 40 and no loss... so.

I'll look into that I hate my arms they are t-rex,

My wife loves the trap bar. Honestly aside her a useless buy.

Same to (and for!) you homie, it really is about being as absolutely fucking ruthless and disciplined as possible

Calorie restriction and hitting the gym every day no matter how wrecked I am from being on my feet for 8-12 hours is the hardest shit ever but there’s no giving up or going back, and that’s all there is to it

Lets get it for the rest of 2025 and into 2026!

I don't know what your goals are but I can tell you right now that mixing ozempic, steroids, and gorilla chow is not going to end well

It would be one of the milder bodybuilding stacks. Dbol is intense but solo is manageable. Maybe ostarine and primo would be safer.

Hell yes! Be proud of your results. Earned is always better than given.

Alright party people, so as to contribute I have two questions related to my routine:

1. First, I do not do cardio at the gym as a rule because I absolutely hate it, I justify this because I get tons of steps and physical activity in during the day (I work a physically demanding warehouse job) but should I be doing cardio anyway? I think I could talk myself into it if it had a benefit for my overall routine, mostly I avoid it because its boring

2. What sort of rest day frequency should I have, and should it truly be a complete rest day or just "go a little less hard" type day?

What say you guys?

If you can tolerate them, those heartrate tracking watches are pretty accurate now at measuring how much cardio minutes you get over the day. You should probably still try to get a weekly minimum because you need your heart to live. I'd also despise cardio at the gym because it's so boring to just sit there and "do cardio". It's trite but you really do just need to find something active you'd enjoy doing for 20-30 minutes a day.
