Kate Garvey is a trooper. She dealt with 8am calls from Brianna 7 days a week. She built Brianna's website from the sorry state it originally was to the slightly less sorry state it is now. Like me, she had no campaign experience before this, so I can't blame her for any mistakes she made. But mostly what she did besides the website was "data analytics". Basically figuring out where to put the targeted Facebook ads and whatnot. I saw pretty much zero actual campaign value to what she was doing except the website, but she was honest, earnest and hardworking. And she put up with a tremendous amount of crap.
The biggest value in her I saw was in her social skills. She helped me through the extremely difficult task of communicating with Brianna in the last month, and made analogies to previous alcoholic bosses she had had and whatnot. For example, she helped Brianna understand that the process of getting endorsements involves jumping through 6-20 different vetting hoops per group, and there's more to it than simply calling them up and saying "hey, Brianna's progressive, wanna endorse her?"
And that you have to CALL THEM BACK and ANSWER THEIR EMAIL, facepalm. OMG I think even with Kate's help, Brianna only ever partially understood that part. And soon after Kate helped me with that, I was banned from talking to Kate. And Frank. And accused of "going over Brianna's head" by talking to them. Which like, OMG, Frank is the only reason I ever got paid at all, I feel.
And also, you need to have communication. This is not the CIA or some other secret military operation.
But whatever. Kate is pretty much a saint in my book for putting up with all of it.
I do not think it is fair that she got paid more, and I think she basically got paid more because she's a pretty girl who would let Brianna yell at her about some new random thing every morning at 8 while jogging. Which, godspeed to that.
I would just get up at 3pm half the time, and fuck it. I'm more of an IDGAF type guy I guess. But I still covered twice as much ground as Brianna, Frank and Chris Voehl combined, so (shrug).
Kate only lasted about a week longer than me, and then quit. She, unlike me, was under NDA, so she couldn't tell me the details of why she quit because you're not allowed to "disparage" Brianna if you sign it. Ever, forever. It's a ridiculous NDA.
But we're still friends, and the sense I got was that:
A) The constant on-the-spot basically abusive yet never listening climate of working there had just gotten too much
B) Brianna was saying some kind of stuff about me, and Kate felt like "if she'll say that about Warren, what will she say about me?"
Kate, like me, is a fan of Bernie Sanders, and I have a feeling it had something to do with that. I saw a thread on Kiwifarms about how Brianna once said that Bernie Sanders fans were "the same as gamergate, a sexist gang who targets and disparages women" or something of that nature. Maybe Brianna was saying how she "never should have trusted a Bernie Bro", or who knows what.
But Kate is now on to better things, and I hope she finds good political work. She is a very hard worker, very optimistic and positive, has good social skills, follows directions amiably to do just about any given random thing, and is very good with extremely demanding bosses.
I'm not sure she really knew what TF she was doing, but hey, neither did I. One good thing about Brianna is that she gave some amateurs a chance. But yeah, not so pleasant to work for, in the end. I hope my other friend has a better time with it. I'm sure you'll dig up his name too in next quarter's filings
