Does Congressman Steven Lynch’s security detail know Warren is in town?

Your run of the mill congressman doesn't get a USSS detail. That kind of security is Senate/House leadership and above. If he's ever been any sort of threat or serious nuisance, then I'm sure Lynch's office has told Capitol Police about him. They are a federal law enforcement agency tasked with protecting congressman along with their families, district offices, investigating crazies, etc. They conduct investigations and their name is slightly misleading because they have authority throughout the US. They always seemed pretty on the ball to me and would be on the lookout for Warren if Lynch's office notified them. I was on hiatus when Warren hit the scene and haven't caught up on everything, so a quick background on his shenanigans could allow me to give a clearer answer.

He's crazy but likely harmless. He thinks that he's Stephen Lynch's cousin, all evidence to the contrary, and accuses Stephen Lynch of being his cousin. Stephen asked him who his parents were, and Warren cried and made a Facebook post about how Stephen had laughed at his dead mother. Personally, I have a soft spot for Warren. He's just not all there.

Nor do they need them, especially in DC. They work in heavily guarded buildings with hundreds of cops on patrol as it is. There’s 534 other congressmen in town, and no one outside of lobbyists would recognize 90% of them outside of the Capitol Hill complex.

Ironically, the most likely place they need security is when they’re in their home districts. That’s where all of the crazy people that actively dislike them live, and they don’t have an patrols of people with assault rifles guarding them when they’re there. That said, even the most backbench congressman’s office likely has developed close relationships with every local law enforcement agency. In my experience, most of the local LEOs are more than willing - and some even seem to really enjoy - providing protection at publicly announced events.

In the case of Warren, I wouldn’t be shocked if Lynch’s offices - primarily his in district offices - are aware of him. Dealing with weirdos sperging out in congressional offices is part of their job. They’ve dealt with weirder people than him.

It's the Progressive Change Campaign Committee Conference (PCCC) conference. I don't know much about it, but a few Facebook friends are there. All very strong Bernie supporters, so I guess it's related to that?

Probably true but I wouldn't be surprised if Capitol PD knows about him in passing. After all, similar things might have been said about Charles Guiteau, who was nice enough to put off shooting Garfield until the President had seen his wife off safely from the train station.

I know he implied on his Facebook that he'd been invited to some amazing candidate training in DC, but that's not really what this is. PCCC does regional candidate training (and state laws and cultures are all so different national training wouldn't be very useful). This is their annual national conference. Anyone can go. It sounds like it's fun, actually. My friend is keeping me updated on Warren, but nothing interesting is happening except that he's talking about how amazing Brianna is. I asked "is anyone else impressed by Brianna?" and my friend replied "Hahaha no." (direct quote)

Would being associated with Brianna's campaign have any impact on his own future aspirations? If she's such a standing joke in those circles, would that reflect badly on Warren? (setting aside that he's pretty batshit in his own right, of course...)

I get the impression Warren was seen as a bit of loon, albeit an amiable one, even before he hooked up with Wu. I doubt association with Wu will have any effect on his chances, positively or negatively. If she bombs as badly as we think, she'll be forgotten by next year.

Do you think Warren knows that if Wu were, by some act of divine intervention, to win the election he'd have a right to expect a permanent position on her staff? That's why people take these thankless temp jobs after all. Maybe someone should tell him....

Nobody ever remembers who loses the primary. A few years ago Lynch faced a well liked, well funded, well supported (largely by the unions, who only pretend to like Lynch) primary opponent. Lynch still won in a landslide, and most people I talk to don't even remember that race happened. Wu is not well liked, funded, or supported... most people in this district don't even know that she's running.
