I liked Pillars and im not ashamed of admitting it.
you should be
Well ye, because the first Fallout never had any real identity. It was just copying stuff from Mad Max, Boy and his Dog and possibly Wasteland. Fallout 2 is where the game got it's own "personality", but one can argue that it still copied from other sources, while Bethesda gave the series an actual it thing?
fallout 2 was a reddit game before reddit was a thing but yeah

He skipped a shitload of the game but I think he largely captured a decent snapshot of it. My point of dropping Pillars was after the big debate over animancy. What isn't covered in his video is how much it builds towards it, how you've already dealt Thaos pulling the body hopping, many opportunities to see the dark sides of animancy, and finally a lot of growing hints towards the gods being directly involved. The fact that your argument on the subject doesn't matter at all stole any desire to keep going from me only to realize much, much, much later on a second playthrough I wasn't far from the conclusion.

I enjoyed the game but I am a long time enjoyer of Baldur's Gate and other CRPGs it was clearly aping. Funny thing is I actually like Pillars 2 a lot due to its age of sail themes and to me making some interesting choices with the previous story. Turns out most people didn't agree with me.

In a twist shocking no one Avowed, which is set after Pillars 2, largely goes against a lot of it. A completely real god is born (naturally resisted by the artificial ones) and may or may not be a help in unfucking the universe. Not that its likely to matter given how Avowed has been rightly received as mediocre.

Regarding the first Pillars he also didn't cover the rather good expansion and all of its characters. Though he didn't really talk much at all about any of the baseline characters either. This review felt like him handling an obligation to watchers. A fitting thing for Pillars.

Don't know if intended, but he really shows an issue of a game designed by committee, but instead of executives and focus groups it's RPG nerds who just ripoff games they played.

At least from the video, the biggest issue is that there is no drive to the plot or characters. I googled what is even the protagonist goal (which maybe I missed in the video) and it's basically that he can't sleep. Not really holding anyone's attention here. Ditto none of the characters are memorable besides of bird Sheboon, and that's for the wrong reason.

It looks like the classic case of a story that had 99% of the effort spent in creating a setting, and 1% actually telling a story.

Also the big twist is very pointless "those aren't gods, but godlike beings". Like that's just the chaos gods from 40K.

Combat system also looks meh. Standard case of balancing melee and magic by making everyone a type of mage, except mages are still overpowered by the end.

I dont understand whats so hard to get. You waken up to memories of a past life and its slowly driving you insane. Yes, it makes you an insomniac but also keeps messing with you mind since the memories of that life is fucking with your current state of mind. The main objective is to find the man who awakened your old memories in hope that it will somehow put you and the past you mind at ease.

Pillars needs to be studied in its sheer mediocrity. Despite being credited for ushering in the age of modern CRPGs, it is never in anyone's best games of the genre or even remembered for it. Seriously. It's astounding. But it's perfectly understandable. I played through it years ago and can only remember bits and pieces: the most prominent being how boring the game was from Sawyer's retarded over-balancing
I've tried to play it like 3 times and I got bored after the tutorial section and uninstalled.

It's not really a page turner. Most RPGs will either have a war (Dragon Age), or immediate personal issue (Baldur's Gate 3). Discovering your past in Planescape works since there is nothing else you can do, and the setting is not typical

A basic litmus test for an RPG for me is can you simply remember anything from it after finishing it? And this can be anything from difficulty spikes like Playful Darkness in Righteous or the Arena fights in Kotor 2. The story beats like Nature of a Man in Torment or finding the water purifier in Fallout. The companions from Rogue Trader or Baldur's Gate.
Point I'm trying to make is I played and finished this when it came out but if you asked me to recite the story, characters, difficulty spikes; anything that sticks with you after you finish it? I wouldn't be able to give you an answer because nothing sticks out. Even Tyranny has the interesting law mechanics and Deadfire has the ship sailing. Pillars 1 is so sanded down and bland it really is forgettable.

judging a game for its synopsis you read online is pretty lazy bro
even though you are not far from the mark at all: there really is not reason for you to do anything besides a short cinematic every time you rest

And the "incel" priest who hates his goddess because she doesn't recognize him is ACKSHULLY the most memorable character in the game.

now that sounds like someone who played poe

Even Tyranny isn't that good or even interesting. All the grittiness of an iron age setting is gone because modern leftist devs whose idea of a roving rape gang is a pack of retarded redditors who like the sex and fighting a lot. And the most retarded wholesome edgy OC donutsteel furry I've ever seen in a video game. Someone surely has that atrocious bio saved on to their computer from ages ago.

And PoE's plot twist changed absolutely nothing and was outright retarded because the gods being created doesn't make them any less gods. I'm sure they're all against some rando creating a new one or trying to erase them, so they may as well be real ones, as irrelevant as that is.

Btw what was the character he sacrificed with the gag of not referring to it in the episode?

The synopsis was only to understand what is the motivation of the MC since I either missed or didn't understand Warlock's explanation of it. And even if there was a better explanation, it's still my opinion after an hour of listening to game events, which didn't happen to me in any of his other reviews (and especially bad when usually hearing those games plots is more interesting than piecing them together over dozens of hours and millions of words).
You argued there was no drive to the plot. I simply explained there was one. Not if that drive was good or not.
I was exaggerating, but it is very weak unless the game actively penalizes you for wasting time and gives a better reason to seek the badguy rather than him being connected to the event that awakened you.

Warlockracy didn't really cover the actual plot or the character. Really he even muddled through the "memories" you see as well. The short version is your character ("the watcher") is doomed to go insane from what is essentially constant memory overload. What little sleep you do get is plagued by all of the memories you are now awoken to from the many past lives you have or you have interacted with via your status as a Watcher.

That's part of what happened to Maerwald and he had the distinctly shit fortune of experiencing first hand one of his past lives as a barbarian raider where he raped a woman, the woman then begat a son which had the same soul who she struggled to raise. Then that same son went on to burn countless barbarians alive because he was taught by his mother to despise them and she blames them for killing his 'father'. This is all while the various past lives bicker on in his head frequently overpowering Maerwald's actual personality.

Once you've beaten him (and this is very early on in the story) he essentially warns you this is your fate. Eventually all the lives and perspectives you will experience will overwhelm your mind. You are going to go ratfuck nuts sooner or later, there's no reversing it once you are awoken. Nor is there any taking back that the Watcher learns the way the world works via the false gods, the wheel of creation, on and on.

That was my same thought, sure they are "fake" in that they were not created naturally. Yet these beings are extremely powerful and you learn how much they do intervene and act. Sometimes subtly, other times apocalyptically direct. The entire reason Eothas started that war is he thought the Gods too heavily controlled the lives of the world and it was unfair.

So the plot of Dune, Alia's story. Only less based because instead of turning into the ultimate psychopath you just go nuts.

PoE1's story would've been infinitely better had they just focused entirely on investigating and trying to fix the Hollowborn crisis, with the artificial god stuff being only hinted at, something that you'd have to really dig to discover. The entire third act is retarded garbage, from the stupid god theme park to the dial-a-god mythical phonebooth. I'd probably also remove the entire Caed Nua castle stuff due to how divorced from the rest of the game it is; the only reason it exists is because they promised a player stronghold as a stretch goal during the Kickstarter.

85% of the posts here are discussion about old video games, while the other 15% are Slavs who are too busy throwing shit at each other to document anything. The general consensus seems to be for people to shrug their shoulders at this guy's autistic past (and present) because you personally enjoy his videos. I find the OP lackluster.

I find it hilarious how this weird Russian ultranationalist was found out to have a Jewish/Ukrainian last name, only for him to sperg the fuck out and delete everything. He then coped about it by pivoting towards grifting a Western audience and becoming a roidtranny. If you look for the name Kirill Nesterov (Кирилл Нестеров) you can find all kinds of these ROG videos and even videos with his face in them. This confirms it is indeed the same guy. And while I cannot read these ancient Turkish runes which some call 'Cyrillic', you can find other videos of this particular Russian youtuber (who looks like a dysgenic freak) interviewing such illustrious figures as Alexander Dugin. You can even find other Russian right-wing dissident figures writing in English about Warlockracy's former career. These Russian political dissidents are all just the most goofy cornballs imaginable or perhaps I do not understand their illustrious culture.

I know it has practically become the punchline to a joke at this point, but I asked Grok about him, and the stuff it had to say was pretty funny. I include the link here because it crawled through a variety of Russian forums and VK posts, which I suspect are filled with all manner of in-jokes and shitposting that distort the bot's understanding of the situation, but also for future research/citation. I found this part particularly funny:

Why he broke from the Russian right-wing community (late 2018–early 2019 onward): It was not a clean ideological conversion but a messy mix of personal trauma, doxxing, interpersonal drama, and disillusionment — culminating in a public anti-Russian outburst that got him fully rejected. Russian forum consensus (Двач /hry/ and /rog/ threads, VK RW groups) points to these triggers:
  1. Deanon and harassment: His real name (Николай Казимирко / Nikolai Kazimirko-Kirillov) and Jewish/Ukrainian-rooted surname leaked (via Discord “цыган” groups or internal leaks). This exposed his background in a nationalist scene that quickly turned antisemitic. He panicked, deleted old content, and suffered “mental trauma” from trolling.
  2. Drunk party incident and humiliation: A notorious 2018–2019 “вписка Погрома” video showed him heavily intoxicated and “out of character” at a Pogrom gathering. It went viral in the scene as “бухой аутист творит дичь,” damaging his persona.
  3. Direct conflict with Просвирнин: Просвирнин pushed him hard for content, then berated him as an “autistic drunk idiot” when Nesterov wanted out. Просвирнин reportedly begged him to stay with tears (“со слезами на глазах”), but Nesterov saw him as an emotional, money-driven “мудак.” The break was mutual resentment — Nesterov felt the Russian nationalist scene was toxic “bydlo” and a dead end.
  4. Wife’s address leak and Russophobic rant: Ex-comrades posted his (ex-)wife’s address in a Telegram chat. Nesterov “psychanул” and released texts insulting the Russian nation — calling Russians “white niggers,” “filthy substance,” “bydlo,” “Sharikovs,” eternally backward, incompatible with civilization, etc. This “alpha-Russophobic essence” (as VK RW users labeled it) turned the community against him instantly; he was branded a post-Russian traitor who “renounced Russianness.”
  5. Personal and pragmatic factors: Divorce from his patriotic Russian wife (ex-Tsargrad.tv writer), new relationships, health/weight issues, and amphetamine use played roles. He hit the ceiling of the marginal Russian scene and pivoted to English-language content for bigger Patreon/monetization (initially alt-right, later pure gaming under Warlockracy). Many note he left just before the broader “гэбэшной зачистки” crackdown on nationalists.
Suffered 'mental trauma' from internet trolling? A Russian being made fun of by other Russians for acting like a drunk idiot? (and where is this video??) He married a tsargrad.tv writer, whom he then subsequently divorced after all of this drama? He was addicted to amphetamines? Health/weight issues explains him turning into a roidtranny I suppose. Was this Russian man so thoroughly buck broken by Russian nationalists for having Ukrainian/Jewish ancestry that he completely quit his entire career up to that point, and pivoted to gullible Western leftists? Was he raped into being a NAFO contrapoints cocksucking tranny? Can any true and honest Slavs confirm/deny? I hope that even one percent of this is true this is hilarious.

The alleged drunken episode is interesting as in several videos he seems to have made a point of not being a drinker to the point of being straight edge. Did it fuck him up that bad or just over counter signaling?

Bitch either do the research yourself or don't bother. You just used third hand information which is almost assuredly mainly speculation and memes.

And even with the information, it's not like it's a huge surprise he got burned out on his original political movement due to changing opinion or targeting, similar to how lots of left wingers turned to the right at the start of the 2010's.

If you want for him to be a lolcow (which is not yet the matter since it's the Gaming forum), then finding something stronger to show him than yet another person that got sick of his original politics.

This is why nobody talks or even digs into it here, nigga nobody knows Russian!
There are Russians who appear in this thread every blue moon to say "yeah this guy is a freak weirdo lmao," but one of them care enough to post receipts. For the one Russian/Russophone who views this page when the stars align, Grok did all the hard work.

There is a ton of counter signaling. "Yes I was involved in a protest against the Putin regime because I am such a hecking wholesome chungus liberal :3" I have no doubt he was in a protest, maybe liberals were there. Every political party in Russia is fake and gay. It makes for strange bedfellows.

This is the only place online which seems to allow this sort of discussion in good faith. This is common knowledge in this thread, the occasional 4chan post, the Russian internet, and this one reddit thread. Comments get deleted on Reddit; he censors his comments on YT. AI is dumb, but better than nothing.
