Warhammer 40k

  • The Kiwi Farms was targeted with a historic DDoS attack last week. Confirmed reports of 2.8Tbps on an individual provider, topping 4.8Tbps when known volumes are added together, and possibly up to 8Tbps if the attacker is believed. This is the third of fourth largest recorded.

So on the Imperial Guard search end of things, a guy from my local game store is selling his army bit by bit at a steep discount since he's moving and can't keep them. He sent me the list of units he still has, and I'm probably going to at least pull the trigger on the vehicles.
Seems reasonable enough, although you'll probably need to re-base Yarrick if the newer model has a larger base. Antennas on the chimeras aren't a big deal, as practically anything can be used to replace an antenna. Biggest question would be are the leman russ' magnetized, or do they at least include the other options?

I'll ask about the Leman Russ' but honestly, the players in my area are pretty casual, so even if they aren't I'm pretty sure if I just told them "Hey this has this weapon for this game" they'd be fine with it.

Edit: They aren't he apparently also got them second hand for fifty

Yeah that's fine for most games. But if you end up getting more later it could be an issue unless you just leave those as-is and then build any later to be swappable. WYSIWYG faggotry can get lame, but at the same time if you eventually end up with "this is that, this one is that, this is the other version" and expect someone to keep track of which one of which when you've got a half dozen of the things it can also get stupid.

Yeah I may just use them to learn the game and eventually buy new ones to properly magnetize them.

I'm not saying to replace them either. If they're all say... Battle cannons, leave em be or if you get more use the extra parts to magnetize those and the existing ones. Leman russ spam can be effective at times so you may just want it as an option. The variants arent just wargear on one datasheet and I doubt they'll be consolidating them all back to 1 sheet in a month.

Does anyone here buy GE terrain? Specifically Kill Team or Boarding Action.

I could print it but wondering if GWs stuff is quality enough or not. Printing the walls will require supports and being lazy is a factor

I have the terrain from the Kill Team Octarius set. It's pretty nice although possibly a little too detailed if you're the type to get all autistic about painting every individual element. It is quality though, modular too.

You can easily fix that by making them whip aerials with any kind of plastic that easily bends, like a bristle from a broom or brush. If you like the rigid look you can also do brass rods for a replacement. Look into it, there are a million solutions to this.
I know that, I'm just listing them off the way he did

Ah, sounded like a concern at first. I'd buy all the lemans and the two chimeras at the very least if you are interested in playing guard.

I feel like guard infantry is the one place where you want to get weird with shit, if you want to make your own dudes. I dont recommend buying them, but maybe you want to be DKoK/Candian/Catachan regiment #40202341 though.

I do like Krieg but honestly, I may wait on Infantry for the Armageddon Steel Legion to come out

I learnt that the kill team board size is half of Boarding Action and a quarter of 2k game. So im printing 2 KT boards (maybe a full 4 for a game table) and picking up KT terrain might be the answer. I dont mind the detail, i dont sweat it with terrain. Chaos trim on the other hand...

Im always on the lookout for vertical terrain if there is suggestions, hopefully 11th brings some with it.

Fixed the flocking issue. I suspect that something with the paint on the base being hydrophobic, as it was a pain getting some paint to stick. I also lost some paint during the wash step.

Anyway, picture as promised.

Saw a bunch of Sisters stuff in the new release section. A kill team and some kind of new walker I guess I missed it in the thread, but I'm tempted by the kill team.

They are also pushing "Armageddon" boxes hard. Not sure what those are. I assume new discount boxes. The ork one is tempted as my Dad loves trikes and the orks are riding some.

I can't speak for the new plastics. GW terrain used to be great just not worth the money. The card buildings saw a lot of use back in the day. They were crude, but looked great compared to the random junk that comprised most tables.

The card/MDF terrain with Kill Team starter seems neat, and I can see it getting a lot of use. A friend has the fancy starter set buildings and it's a weighty chunk of plastic. Not sure of it's practicality, but it looks good.

I had heard great things about AoS and Mordhiem terrain, along with it being great value, but I've only ever seen it scalped.

However, there's a bunch of third party knock offs of the Mordhiem stuff.

There was a non-GW game, I forget the name. Some skirmish game set in a Venice like city. The game featured a lot of jumping around. So the terrain is all balconies and stairs.

Then there's Infinity. The game is more expensive than 40k (at least where I live) but some sets have a bunch of buildings with stairs meant for rooftop sniping.
