Does anyone in current year still play Laserbunr, that one really old rulset written by Brian Ansell in the early 80s? It seems very similar to 40k but with the advantage of not being own by Games Workshop.
Last year I went to several local 40k tournaments at all the local clubs in Northwest UK. I also attended the London Grand Tournament, Sheffield and Leicester GTs too. I'm not that competitive, I just like getting games in and I find the local players to be a bit sleep-inducing with their casualness. Overall I enjoyed it despite having some criticisms of the game and balance situation.
After observing probably over a thousand separate 40k players in total I've yet to observe a single biological female in the 40k competitive scene lmao. Although I've seen and played against several trannies. A lot of them really do look like the soyjak meme of the obese, balding and smelly variety too. I wonder if these guys ever feel embarrassed when they walk into a room for this absolute sausage fest of a hobby and the only 'women' to be seen are multiple trannies just like them. I know that trannies are prone to sudden flashes of self-awareness and crippling doubt where they realize how shameful and disgusting they are, so I like to imagine it occurs to them that long after they are dead their 40k collection will identify them to future archeologists as male.
Sometimes you come across nicely painted stuff and it's really nice to know everybody going to bring a fully painted army to the table at these tournies for the +10 VPs
Although sometimes you come across people who paint their armies to the technically minimum required level like this guy and his spooky ghost army of Grey Knights
Well our boy went and crossed the Rubicon! Some rando ordered an old Dante and GWS accidentally sent him one of the new sculpts that they were probably sending out to their partnered painters to get ready for an official announcement. Instead he just paints it and drops it in a discord. He didn't even keep the sprue or instructions. Nice. I'm inclined to believe it's real as the box art looks pretty different from his model and I can't see someone kitbashing 2 customer models, drilling out one barrel but not the other, and then painting one at a lower skill level. Personal feelings about Primaris as a plotpoint aside, I think it's... decent. The mask is definitely kinda off scale wise, it just looks a bit baby-faced to me. And I don't like the small jump pack either. I'll definitely pick this up and swap those out for better parts. The legs and chest look good and the arms look fine, I also hope this means Primaris Sanguinary Guard are on the menu now.
This looks exactly like the jump pack design in Space Marine 2, sans the leg thrusters.
I don't like the smaller size either. Part of what makes jump packs neat is how huge they are compared to your typical jetpack, and their bulk going over the shoulders makes them prominent even from the front view.
At least the Terminator sneak previews are promising.
Officially confirmed as real, Primaris Dante is inbound. I really hope GWS makes Primaris Sang Guard and Death Company look decent. The old models have so much detail but Primaris models are usually pretty bare. I could see them just shitting out another assualt intercessor box with the BA upgrades and now these little jump packs in a separate sprue for another $20.
When I saw the SJW page I saw that it was being protected hardcore by like 2 power users, was one of them an Admin? They seemed to go scream at an admin when people edited it, so I thought they were just autistic.
I'm pretty forgiving with paint jobs, mostly cause I'm constantly trying new units out so some of my guys are often just the basic black/orange/copper/gold with no highlighting or shading yet.
That said, some people show up with armies only half primed, non-WYSIWYG with multiple copies of the same unit but no distinguishing marks.
Not fun constantly having to say 'Alright my Inflitrators are gonna shoot your... what are those?'
Got my grots to wound the Nightbringer, regardless of the outcome of the game the image of a bunch of basic gretchin taking a wound off a C'tan shard is more than enough.
Since I've been enjoying taking a glance at the Horus Heresy page each time I finish a novel or anthology, I thought I could simply look over at the archive of the page only to find that the last one is five years old.
It was always going to be either the Lion or Russ because they have the benefit of being conceivably alive and Primarchs of primary Space Marine subfactions.
Blame GW for not wanting to play up his Tarzan-like origins like the fags they are, and their insistence on shitty hoods and capes instead of awesome shit like wings.
They need to bring back that old Pre-Heresy drip the Sons of Caliban had.
But they aren't bring the most boring ones back since the Salamanders have done jack in finding Vulkan and Ferrus is one of only 3 primarchs that is confirmed dead.
Like so, the Chaos Primarchs have an obvious buff. Like Magnus the Red is fucking huge, Mortarian is fucking cool and Angron is fairly neat. Why not bring back Corvus Corax to have a cool looking Primarch on the Imperium side? In a way the Lion coming back will essentially end the Dark Angels story. And if you are getting into Space Marines their codex is a fucking cool story.
Like Vulcan would be badass too. Instead we have Roboute and the Lion. Doesn't match up with the Chaos guys
