Call me schizo but I think tor is a joke. I dont trust anyone 100%,
Sam Bent (much like Mental Outlaw) regularly makes mistakes because he always makes the assumption that the government/state is always in the wrong because he is an agorist. Both of them work backwards from their conclusion. Normally their conclusion is the correct one, but not always.

Regarding Tor. Unless you turn JS off, sites can find out what OS you are using. I am sure there are hacks to work out how to detect the OS via the CSS. I suspect it would be done via what fonts can be assumed to be on the system.

I don't really think that whether you run Windows, Mac or Linux, it isn't going to do a lot to help authorities track you down via Tor. Almost everyone, including the infamous hackers, was tracked down because they did something really fucking stupid that gave authorities a direct reference to who they were, e.g., their Coinbase account, which has their photo ID, or their Microsoft account with their full name and address.

A lot of people on here seem to approach OPSEC from the schizo zone, instead of assessing what their threat model is and then taking sensible precautions.

Thing is when you're a high profile criminal on the net the government is after: They have endless patience and you only need to slip up once. If you look into famous cases where the perp was caught, it was either because they had grandma having an AOL email account level opsec, they slowly revealed tiny crumbs of data unintentionally law enforcement put together for months and years (rare and the most dangerous, but it usually meant the person in question really pissed them off) or, most common, the person in question started being complacent and careless (because after all, he wasn't caught for years) and then did something dumb. Seeing the average competency of government institutions so clearly in the last years, I start to think them having ultra-secret backdoors into everything is a myth and if they do, access to them is probably ultra limited because otherwise some low level grunt would burn them on stalking his highschool ex. They're not gonna burn them on finding who's behind some rando account posting on green reddit, or even on your average pedo. They obviously don't care about this. You really need to step on some toes or be a high value target otherwise me thinks.
