I don’t know my dudes. The more and more I read about her and the things she does or say the less I believe she’s being sincere. I sometimes honestly feel like she’s just selling snake oil at this point. Some part of her has to know what she’s saying isn’t true. How can you just.... live in such an alternative reality from the rest of us. Do you guys think she would still believe in the things that she does if she didn’t have a monetary motivation.

How would she not? It's a really pathetic existence and her beliefs make it sound like it's society's problem that she can't get laid and people think she's ugly. If she didn't think that, she would have to face the truth.

Yeah! Why the fuck would anyone want to be strong and fit so they can do fun activities and handle domestic repair work, gardening, etc rather than paying out the ass for someone else to do it? Why would anyone want to live out their full lifespan when they could just lay down and rot a la incels? Why have muscles that support your spine and joints when you could instead lay around like a lump and claim disability points? How oppressive it is to keep your body healthy! We should all be stunning and brave by making ourselves sick. It's more natural, don't'cha know.

I have to say, aside from a few truly exceptional exceptions, I think this is true of most if not all Fat Activists/Body Positivity types, ESPECIALLY those who've built a career out of their "teachings."

I would even go so far as to suggest anyone who has built a career on an ideology knows, deep down, that what they're selling is garbage. I'm skeptical of anyone who has made a profitable career out of any "cause" for this reason. After all, if what they believe is so glaringly obvious, why do they constantly need to defend it so strongly?

The FAs know it's bullshit to think obese = healthy, but it helps them sleep at night and it calms the nagging guilt over destroying their bodies, plus it helps them "fit in" and feel like the hot, desirable people they always wished they could be.

Now I don't think all body positivity ideas are dumb. It's good to not beat yourself up for not being perfect and recognize everyone has flaws. But Virgie and her ilk are next-level extremists. I agree: snake oil salesmen.

There are actually ways to approach a discussion about American beauty standards, the history of race passing (hair straightening, skin bleaching) and how ideals have changed over time and why, the history of fad diets and popular misinformation that leads to negative health outcomes. But nah instead she just tards out and piles on the misinformation. What a fucking joke. I'd say she was probably blowing the professor except look at her.
