I too am a strong survivor of injustice who nevertheless ends up in the hospital every time a white woman doesn’t say anything about a show about a white woman written by a black woman.

Here's a gem from her description of Camp Thunder Thighs. (Emphasis mine).

Accessibility: The overall terrain is pretty flat, but there is a bit of an incline (best guess: 3 or 4% incline) as you make it from the bottom of the site to the top. However, all scheduled activities take place in the same building as the sleeping quarters. The building we'll be using is accessible, and has a ramp. There are no stairs to the entrance of the dining quarters. There is a set of stairs (20 steps) to the main sleeping quarters. There is a limited number of beds on the ground floor that are reserved for people who need ground floor access. There are electrical outlets near 5 of the beds. Those spaces will be prioritized for folks with CPAP machines.

We’re starting a camp to teach you that being your size is healthy and natural! Now who brought their special medical machines that keep them from suffocating under their own weight and dying in their sleep?

Also I looked at the schedule and I DON’T want to know what “jigglecize” is.

Realtalk, what if a bunch of skinny women signed up? Or even just one? Would she kick them out for not being body positive enough, or because they might hurt the other campers’ feelings? Or would they just be restricted to not talking because their thin privilege means they don’t have anything to contribute?

Virgie claims that Camp Thunder Thighs is for "people of all sizes," so she would probably take the thin women's money and then lambast them for some perceived "microaggression" later on Ravishly.

Oh, honey, you know anyone approaching a healthy BMI would be completely ostracized. Besides, anyone approaching a healthy BMI wouldn't be interested.

Back to the topic of this "woke" community, I won't go into my personal politics or anything like that, but I will say that my personal philosophy is to just not be a piece of shit...unless I'm on here. I try to teach my kids to be respectful and kind and helpful. I'm not sure where that takes a turn into 'let me scream at you what you're supposed to believe and if you don't agree with it then you're a horrible person who shouldn't exist' territory. I've lived in areas with high diversity and I've always gotten along just fine without having anyone lob accusations at me and I've cultivated some wonderful friendships so I get this whiff of narcissism and shit stirring drama from these folks. These people just give me a headache. I can't imagine wandering around each day looking for a new outrage. There's enough shit going on in the world and in life in general that I don't need that shit. I come on here to spectate and comment, but at the end of the day what these folks do isn't a factor in my life. Our cows are our entertainment, nothing more, nothing less.

Most people know that the whole "fat acceptance" thing is bullshit. Not to powerlevel or anything, but ask anyone that's not on tumblr or instagram what they thing about fat acceptance. 90% of the time, they will think it is insane. All of these fat activist think that they are changing the world, when in reality people just laugh at them. :story:

When I first heard about Fat Acceptance, it made sense to me--because you have to both accept that you're fat and accept (or love) yourself before you're ready to lose weight.

Turns out that I was wrong. I still think that a certain level of obesity is a form of self-harm, though.

Shit man, you'd be surprised how many people on tumblr laugh at TITP and all that. The average person on that hell site, while do start to believe certain lies FAs tell them, at the very least don't think obesity isn't unhealthy.
On that note though, I can't imagine the delusions to see just how many obese people have extreme health issues and to still think that it's not due to fat and to just plug their ears saying "correlation isn't causation" as if causation can't include correlation

If you ask anyone outside of “internet people” what they think about fat acceptance they’d probably say “what’s that?” I don’t think FAs have made a real cultural impact outside of niche corners of the internet. The closest they’ve come is putting plus sized models in ads and shit but the average normie doesn’t associate seeing a fat person on TV with HAES.

That whole “movement” is ridiculous. If you have legitimate health conditions preventing you from being a normal human size, fine. No one with a shred of empathy would look down on you. The problem is that none, not one of these folks shrieking HAES have any condition other than greed and gluttony. Hell, there are many, many women with PCOS which is known to contribute to obesity are average sized because they take care of themselves. I can’t feel sympathy for that nor should that be a protected class. They are actively choosing this lifestyle and it is a lifestyle so if they are judged for that, so be it. They love to act like being a glutton is akin to being gay. It’s absolutely not.

For as ugly and narcissistic and insane as Virgie is (pathologically so), this Shrill debacle really showed the true colors of Lindy West's sister-in-law, Ijeoma. She fucking called Virgie "lightskinned" as a silencing tactic, lmao. Ijeoma is half-black with quarter-black nieces btw, so this seems like a hypocritical landmine. Ijeoma also threw a fit last year when a white lady got attention for a book about racism that was competing with her book about racism.

Everyone in the woke realm is an entitled, weirdly racist asshole.

Not only that, Ijeoma’s own children are only a quarter black.

She was raised by a white mother in uber white Seattle and has a white ex-husband and nearly white kids. Her brother has a white ex-wife and a white current wife (Lindy West). I’ll put money on both Ijeoma and Aham having 90 percent white friends, and I don’t blame them for that. Their actual cultural milieu and allegiance is with white people because of their mother, where they grew up, and the fact that they’re upwardly striving (there are very few well-educated black professionals in the Pacific Northwest, it’s not New York or Chicago). But this means Ijeoma isn’t any kind of an expert on being black in America.

Ah, I didn't know Ijeoma had kids of her own. I only know bits and pieces about her through my hate-following of Lindy. She seems like a wholly unpleasant and sanctimonious person.

Also, I know that Aham and Lindy are good friends with Hari Kondabolu, the insufferable "comic" who harassed The Simpsons into getting rid of Apu. That says a lot about their beliefs and convictions.

And yes, Ijeoma and Aham are Obama-black, down to their names. I'm surprised Aham's kids are named Penelope and Charley (a nickname of Charlotte, I guess?) instead of Igbo names.

But yes, please tell me how lightskinned Virgie is, Ijeoma. That's an excellent jab for a "racism expert" to make toward someone who's not black but not "white," either.

This drama amuses me. I once got kicked off a political board for suggesting (in the context of a 'woke' business that was instituting 'no whites' hours 'for the convenience of POC') that POC is not a monolith and that they don't go around singing kumbaya together when no whitey is around to oppress them. This is a case in point, made even more humorous by whiteness of the combatants, both in skin and culture. In fact their brand of SJW seems very white, with the added advantage of being 'oppressed' within that system.

Isn't grouping the entire human race into "white" and "not perfectly white" itself horribly racist, in addition to being really fucking stupid? Even goddamned Stormfront users see the world with more nuance than that.

I still don't quite understand what Virgie is trying to say in her latest blog post. If you're going to accuse someone of plagiarism then fucking do it, what difference would it make if the person who ripped you off is a gay black woman or not? She's not apologizing for mistakenly accusing the wrong person of plagiarism, but she's not letting it go with "yeah I guess it could be a coincidence" either. I have no idea what kind of mental gymnastics she's doing by apologizing to the woman she believes actually ripped her off for being black, while blaming the person she wrongly accused for all the negative backlash... because racism? I guess? I don't know, I don't fucking get it.

I do like Virgie backpedaling and pulling the old "well at least I started a conversation" after being called out on her nonsense though, that one never gets old.

Virgie still has comments off on her IG. What a snowflake. SJWs like Virgie get so used to existing in a hug box that they have lost any ability to face reality.

@vanilla_pepsi_head -- yep, "started the conversation" is something Boogie's dumbass falls back on when he gets flack for his stupid opinions. Oh hur dur you might not agree with me but at least I started the conversation reeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

That Jade Valentin chick is one of the dumbest people on Youtube, no joke. A total illustration of what happens when you over-educate dumb people and fill their heads with big words they cannot ever hope to process.

This whole hullabaloo is hilarious from start to finish. To me, it illustrates perfectly how Identity Politics trumps not only logic but justice too. You are scum if you plagiarize, but if you have skin pigment and are queer, somehow it is acceptable (even though it sucks, grumble grumble) It is better to stick together than point out each other's hypocrisies. It is always better to fight whitey than each other.

Of course, none of that addresses that Virgie set herself up by starting this stupid stuff in the first place.

In a way, I think of Virgie as the Chantal of Fat Activism; wildly stupid, wildly hypocritical, utterly unable to read a room, belligerent even when backpedaling, melodramatic about physical ailments, an ignorant know-it-all with a 7th-grader's writing ability, delusional about her own sexual attractiveness, queen of painting herself in a corner, morally bankrupt, prone to anger, and lacking in the dues-paying others in her field have at least earned, however dubiously.

In a way, Virgie wins, despite losing. How many people were even uttering her name before this? Not a lot. There are more now. That's all she wanted.
