I still enjoy them a lot when he's playing something I'm interested in, guy's dumbass brand of humor is perfect for my vestigial boomer brain. He's mellowed out a good bit over the last couple of years.

That's probably one of the sadder parts of forming para-social friendships with online personalities. "If my streamer best friend doesn't think the same thing as me when it comes to _____, then they're not my friend anymore and they're a dumb boomer sellout with no taste for real entertainment".

Call me dumb, but I like to get a good laugh out of keeping his chat open when he's live. If it's not chat forcing Jojo down his throat, then it's Undertale, DS, or some other obvious thing that he's explained that he won't stream 4957395739 times. Good stuff.

And he's always been pretty good with that. Except lately with his more snippy remarks for things he brings upon himself. I think he needs to take another one of those vacations from the stream, but I digress. I kinda admire how he's able to keep up that kind of charisma for as long as he does each night.

On the subject of fans requesting specific games, I have a similar issue when it comes to one game I'd really love to see Joel play. Not to get too power level-y, but my favorite game of all time is LISA: The Painful, and since it's an Earthbound-style RPG with a really absurdist sense of humor, I always pictured Joel really enjoying it. I briefly considered emailing him a request to play it, although the game has been out for quite a while by this point - but when I really sat down and thought about it, it felt like a huge mistake. Not because he wouldn't enjoy it, but because aside from the comedic stuff, the game handles some really dark and serious subjects, and I genuinely don't think Joel or chat would be able to handle that content with maturity.

Thinking about that sort of made me wonder how Joel vets the games that he wants to play. I assume that he generally tries to avoid games that are too story heavy, since I rarely see him play those types of games, but who knows?

It never hurts to send that kind of request over his way, regardless of what kind of games he plays. I'm not sure if he handles game requests the same way Vin does, but it would be a unique experience to see him play a game like LISA on stream. Super onboard with this concept.

I'd say 2017-2018 Joel was probably his peak for me - he'd completely mellowed out from his previous obnoxious ways, while still having the energy and good humor to be funny and entertaining. Nowadays he kind of seems more bitter than anything else.

He's just as funny as always, but, yeah, he got a little bitter. i mean, every once in a while he gets pissed off at chat because he's paying too much attention to it (this includes the one guy situation) and rage quits because of them. His streams are still great, tho, even when he's just...watching shit on YT

Nah nah, just with someone else coming into the mix I was quite happy to see they had seen that post and it wasn't lost. Funny seeing all these names being dropped and the person who caused all this hasn't been brought up once, kinda annoys me how they got off Scot free but at the same time I'd never do what they did to me. The person who made those logs was closer friends with vinny than with me and had been in the community since 2011, probably why they were able to make a pretty convincing rp, as I said, I only spoke to them a few times. This person was a wannabe mod but they never were promoted so i guess they lost their shit. Was great to wake up on that day and have my Skype blowing up.

Are you referring to Shikaku? If so, I actually already suggested that to Sgt yesterday, because he definitely seemed like the type who would do that, but she confirmed it wasn't him. We discussed him a bit earlier in the thread; he was booted from the community pretty early on for flat out stealing donations, so I don't think he was around during the time that the Sgt situation happened.

If they decide to come of their own volition, that's fine, but forcing it is just not a good idea.

I've been having a similar feeling, myself. I still really enjoy their streams, and if I catch a good one I'll stick around, but I don't drop everything to watch them like I used to. I only watch if it's a game/other subject that I'm already interested in, like Joel's Half-Life Alyx stream last night.
