Got myself unbanned now, so all's good. Turns out it really was because of "being mean".

That has a pretty fair chance of happening right now. I'm even willing to say about 50/50. The thing is, if he waits any longer, I think the chances will creep up and up until its pretty much a guarentee that he'll lose the majority of his audience altogether. Additionally, the more and more unstable Tumblrites exist in his fandom, the more likely it is that people will dogpile him with fake threats. #MeToo has a bit of a half-life. If not enough people accuse someone, or there's not quite enough evidence, then people will just bitch and moan about it and it'll die down after awhile. But if people smell blood in the water and sense they can turn en masse, that's when you're in deep shit.

The days of a random hit piece based on a random #MeToo accusation ruining someone's career are kind of past unless you work in a really kid friendly industry or something. You'll get some heat for sure, but people are just sick of it. There needs to be more complexity to the scandal now or you need to have made quite a few enemies along the way to back up the allegations.

I doubt that's gonna happen. We're all overestimating how big the Vinesauce audience and their importance is. Even if Vinny doesn't send the epic trans spammers home, his chat can't get any worse than it already is – because at this point it's already your classical Twitch hivemind with occasional zoomer topics and the unfunniest meme of the week. We already were at a point where some people thought Vinny was doing shady stuff with women back then when someone dropped that apparent leak of a chat conversation between him and a female moderator, but that quickly turned out to be fake (for obvious reason, anyone who's ever chatted with Vinny knows he doesn't write like that at all).

So, as much as I agree that he should do something about the spam problem, would that really be of benefit to him? After all, the ratio is currently something like 85:15 of his audience being Tumblr/Furry/Transkids and people from back then/an older audience. I doubt he wants to lose the ability to live comfortably in an expensive city like NYC while being able to afford his nerd stuff AND follow his passion just because a small amount of his audience (rightfully) gets pissed off at the truly exceptional new generation that took a liking for his streams. The last time I ever felt his audience was still "his audience" was late 2013, ever since 2014 they've been slowly replaced.

With Joel we know he lives in a rather secluded area somewhere in Sweden and has the typical drunk metalhead lifestyle, so he gets away with still being rude sometimes and annoying some of his fanbase.

While I commend Vinny for ignoring the chat's antics for the most part, he's completely stopped even attempting to change the subject. I remember not too long ago he used to utilize a genius method to steer chat away from sperging via use of a "duck button" which would cause chat to spam the Scoot emote as per the usual hivemind behavior. Usually it'd stop whatever discourse was going on, but now he doesn't even do that much and basically waits for the mess to pass.

I always wonder how streamers like him and Vinny feel about it when their popularity grows - do you think they miss the old days, when they could actually connect with people in chat because of how few people there were, and when they could basically say whatever they wanted and get away with it every time? Or do you think they prefer it now, where there's distance between themselves and "Chat" (because now Chat is just an entity on its own, not really a mass of people), and they can't say as much crazy stuff, but they're reaching a much wider audience and making good money? It must be different for everyone, but I'm always curious about that.

Yes he did. I remember back when they used to have the chatango chat, before the shikaku shitfest, he would've talked to chat more. That was actually mentioned earlier in the thread; Vappy reuploaded it to cut out the incident where Vinny argued with his boyfriend live. Pretty transparent and a goddamn shame.

And yeah, I do wonder if his boyfriend was maybe irritated about Vappy's obvious crush on Vinny, thus why the argument broke out during the stream. Vinny has friends, and pretty well-off ones, from the sound of things. He also has some friendships with the other streamers, although I can't speak to the depth or closeness of them - he mentioned that Imakuni is one of his oldest friends, and if memory serves, he flew down to Texas to celebrate Rev's birthday several years ago. I can almost guarantee that the last thing he wants is some mid-twenties NEET trying to reach out to him and give HIM emotional support.

It usually either goes like this:

1. Joel promises an incentive that chat gets excited for, then won't do it until chat has already forgotten about it and the excitement is gone (we're talking 8 months - over a year later than actually promised)

2. He starts an incentive, but suddenly "runs out of time", then promises to resume it but never does

3. He promises an incentive but never does it, and by never I mean never. He still hasn't done some from 3 years ago, even if they were something simple like playing game X for 24 hours or doing one facecam or cooking stream. (it wouldn't be the first facecam stream he did, there was one several years ago)

Vinny doesn't have many incentives, but when he has them he usually does them fairly quick and they're manageable so both parties (Vinny and the chat) are happy.

Unfortunately the original was about an hour and 50 minutes (I joined later during the stream back then, so it may have been longer). 9 Seconds is nothing compared to that. I tried to get the entire stream a few months ago but it's just damn near impossible to find nowadays, but at least the Pokémon stream where Vinny says nigger is still out there.
