Mono doesn't chat much and didn't say anything in the vinecord about that but I don't doubt you. It was other members I won't name seething that the game was cool and that chat was overusing a word. But if you're still curious just join and check yourself.

I'm surprised there are people still that petty within the community after the fiasco last year. Thought that would have weeded all of them out.
Haha I honestly don't think last year changed anything for these people. It's just the usual reddit mod complaining and a couple of the other guys and gal's. There are some cool funny people there but you need to go through a lot of trash to find them.

That fucking Glitchhikers game is the most insufferable pseudo-intellectual bullshit I have ever seen, at least in a game. The writer took two undergrad philosophy courses at their coastal university and now are like, totally into existentialism and postmodernism, man. I don't generally like putting people down for the simple fact that they created something, it's a hard thing to do, but if all you can write is verbose, Starbucks-sipping crap, don't even try.

It would have been infinitely better if there were dialogue options that were like "get the fuck out of my car" or "spew this shit elsewhere"; but no matter what you say, the fuckers in that game STILL talk to you. Like a leech you can't get rid of. Least it would have been funny if there was an option to tell them you think they're a dickhead who you want to leave you alone, only to then keep talking. Legitimately; that would have been actually funny. But the developer clearly didn't want that.

Sounds like a glorified twitter feed but with 3D assets stuck to it.
I think there's a massive influx of walking simulators or quite simply book simulators where they are just a rejected book deal/movie script from a trust fund kid that decided to slap some 3D assets to it, chop it up in dialog boxes and release as a game.
At the very least their predecessors (point and click games) had logic/madman puzzles related to the story to progress so you had to pay some attention, these new ones don't even try to have any interactivity beyond "click A for next dialog box", even egglikes like the primordial LSD dream emulator had free form exploration that was short enough to be entertaining, these new guys in town just straight up dump their tweets on the shittiest lowest effort 3D characters, have you read them and call it a day, get meaningless journalist praise and believe themselves equals to Shakespeare.

I finally played Hypnospace Outlaw after avoiding the Vinny playthrough for years. Honestly one of the most creative games I've ever played. Chowder Man RULES.

I also played it recently and really enjoyed it. (Mostly because Joel was starting it and I learned that they were making a sequel set in the mid 2000's)
There's supposed to be a bunch of Kickstarter backer pages and from what I've heard they totally break kayfabe (Backer submitted content seems to have some contractual level of weirdness) but I haven't got to them yet.
I like how effectively Jay and the team can use cringe without it feeling too forced. That one page where a man recontextualizes his divorce as the start of a steampunk adventure was perfect.

One of my favorites is the celebrity talking about some town, and he says everything in his script verbatim. "The beautiful streets are gorgeous at night, don't mention the rat infestation."

Backer pages worry me a bit, I'll be a bit annoyed if I open some page and it's all "Trans rights, @Zane_Rocks_36 is a sussy baka!" They'll probably have an option to disable them though. hopefully. If not, Jay probably made sure that nothing too "meta" gets put in.

I did join a stream, and HotDad said he helped with the sequel, so maybe a Chowderman comeback will happen.

According to tcrf, two discord trannies have an in-game wedding on their page with their anime profile pics.
I think the backer pages are entirely optional 100% completion bonuses though.

They're also completely impossible to find without searching random terms and will never just "pop up" in the middle of a normal playthrough.

Thank God. But really, if you are a tranny and you want to be taken seriously, why would you want to be put in a parody game making fun of weirdos?

Also if that is going to be a thing, they better have atleast one homophobic page, it's the fucking 2000s, but i'm sure they won't because somehow homophobia doesn't exist on this version of the internet.

I replayed Hypnospace for a second time recently and I still loved it. It's one of the few detective games that are done right, that don't hold your hand and give you every clue right from the get-go. You do have to do a little digging on your own to piece together the big conspiracy and catch the bad guy. The only thing I kinda don't like is the ending.
Dylan just kinda gives up at the end and turns himself in without much of a fight or anything. Also presumably he gets sent to prison but the game never gives much details about what happens to him, his brother, or his company. I hope the sequal might answer a few of these things though.
