I can understand having a crush on human fictional characters, but what's the deal with characters like non-human creatures, aliens (I'll make an exception for Garrus from ME), deformed freaks, robots, etc? What do women see in them?
It is painfully retarded to state this in all seriousness, but I will nonetheless: why else have a complex brain capable of experiencing and processing abstract details? I vibe with the whole essence that overall resonates with me, down to specific patterns of lines (or polygons).
That's also why I consider realism in art lifeless, while being able to admire the skill. Stylization to any degree is what captures human soul, because its deformity communicates more than is seen to the naked eye. It Speaks. Emotions, associations, feelings, senses. Kind of like when you listen to music with specific sounds it will evoke specific imagery in your head. I crush on that essence behind the whole character, because visuals and character design resonate with me.
In short, I see (personal) lived experience (predominantly emotional or metaphorical, not literal) or something that balances it out in them through their stylized prism.
