Also me: *le sigh* Nvm...

Has it ever happened to someone where you mod a game and its suddenly really awesome now aaaaand...

You just kind of lose the desire to play it? Suddenly you just get tired/bored with it despite the fact you spent a good time modding the game to actually play it.

It can happen to any game with a dedicated modding scene, you install a bunch of shit, made sure it is all compatable and you just kind of stop there lol. I hate it but it happens over and over again

Literally like a week ago with OG Oblivion. Not heaps of mods, just a couple significant ones that do shit like overhaul it into using a traditional "get XP, level up, distribute points" system.

Then I get half an hour in, remember that actually I don't just hate Oblivion's levelling system, I also dislike interacting with NPCs, and going into cities altogether, and doing the actual quests themselves.... and now I've put myself off playing it again.

Happens with Fallout NV constantly as well. Install it, mod it for 2 hours, and then remember I don't actually like it that much.

Stellaris and Mechwarrior 5. Every time I finally get their mods finally working to where I want them, I just meh out.

Rimworld too, come to think of it, although I can spend hours and hours just chilling in Rimworld.

Happened most recently with Cyberpunk 2077 for me. It's actually part of the reason I don't really bother to mod Bethesda games very much anymore.

I continue to play Gray Zone Warfare, and it continues to be the best shooter I've played in ages. The reason it's more than just "Tarkov PVE" is the design is really focused around the PVE. They're constantly tweaking the AI and missions, and they do a good job of visual storytelling and building the scenario through the missions. Gunplay is fantastic. Autistic 19-year-olds can't shoot me in the head and shit on my corpse.
So it's discounted on Steam at the moment, and I am tempted to buy it, but I have some questions:

How is performance and optimization ? I've got a Ryzen 7 5800, GTX 3060Ti 8 GB and 32 GB RAM.

I see that there are different editions to buy. Is it like Tarkov where you get gear, money and stash space ? Does it make a big difference ?

Movement and gunplay similar to Tarkov or a bit different ?

The special versions looked like they were full of gay shit I don't need, so I got the base game. I've gotten over 130 hours out of it, so I could quit now and be satisifed with my $30 purchase. As far as requirements go, people do run this with 3060 Tis and get good frame rates. It does have dense vegetation, probably the best I've ever seen, so I'd expect to use frame gen (AMD FMF is supported on your card) and DLSS for a smooth experience.

I have this relationship with Fallout 4; games trash compared to all the others but I usually mod the SHIT out of it, like full conversion mods then never play it.

I think we get more satisfaction in putting all the pieces together than actually playing with the final results 😂

whenever i finish a game, i almost see no reason to start up another playthrough of it unless its something easily replayable like say inscryption or vampire survivors since i kinda just move onto another thing once im done.

I'd like to think that it's your body telling you to do physical activity outside. Maybe you'd be more focused after, if you suffah mentally just exert yourself physically bruh so it's not just your brain that's always exhausted

Every time I try to play Skyrim again.

This is why shit like Crimson Desert and Witcher 3 has no replayability. Hell, Elden Ring. You can respec or unlock every single ability in one playthrough. Dark Souls, it's like "oh this shitty corridor again, but now I'm a mage. Wonder how that'll affect it". ER? You've already taken another path 5 mins into the game. You can't compare or relate the content to anything.

"Nooo bro! You're not meant to get tired of a life-defining hobby! Games haven't stooped in quality and you're meant to heckin love gaming for decades to come!". Literally look up Sims or Stardew; you'll have addicted women echoing the sentiment: "I make a whole family, build a house and don't touch it for another 3 months". Gaming has gotten stale and I think it's because we've ripped a lot of features out of the games and put them into clients, ie. Discord, matchmaking, reddit etc. Skyrim modding? You mean taking pics and posting them across social media?

I've never done a second playthrough of an RPG. Oh, I can get a slightly different outcome if I choose a different dialog option? So what?

If the game was fun that's reason enough to replay it. I've done multiple playthroughs of Kotor, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, NWN, Morrowind and so on.
