Isn't that why the supernatural works as well, because it's essentially psychosomatic? I can't decide if that's a genius idea and maybe how the supernatural would really work or a dumb idea.
Been a long ass time since I read any of the lore out of curiosity, but the way I understand it is that yeah. Basically everything is just a collective morass of humanity's consciousness and their fears/beliefs. Their is supposed to be some group or something that uses this to make it so computers work, cars work, etc. They convince the public to believe they work so they do and they do this to combat... I think the werewolves?

I'd prefer someone who knows more to correct me if I'm wrong or add a better explanation.
Its... hard to explain. Mostly because you're getting out of Vampire territory and into Mage territory. Where yes, things work because people believe they do. And why magic tends to fail because people don't believe magic exists. As a result there's no real universe-wise difference between a chucking a carved Rune of Fireball and a plasma grenade. Just that people find one more believable than the other.

Kind of an interesting take on it imo.

Holy shit. I don't think any of them even fucked once. :stress:

Also, some info on Bloodlines 2. Or non-info, since he has no fucking idea what the hell's going on with it, but it's enlightening nonetheless:

None of his writing actually made it into the game apparently. There's no way this is gonna be any good at all.
Sounds like the same song and dance Hollywood's pulling with their soulless sequels these days. Bring along a big name as a "consultant" or "assistant" something to draw nostalgiafags to the theater, then bin all their input and have your committee of dime-a-dozen monkeys do the heavy lifting for cheap. Same way James Cameron was involved with Dark Fate or how Spielberg's totally still involved with production for Indy 5, just shut your goy mouth and give us your shekels.

Wod being an rpg book series has quite deep lore and mage/werewolf often engage in metaphysics. Vampire touches on it but it's more tagental since the vtm is primarily a political/personal setting but yeah it's your conviction that repels vampires with the exception of a minority who are so unbelievably fucked up God probably does hate them so holy symbols just work in general
It's a pity the mechanics for mage are impossible to replicate in a video game.

Elder scrolls-style custom spell creation to simulate rotes. Aside from that, some sort of primarily text-based/turn-based RPG like Disco Elysium where you try to solve various puzzles using your abilities.

Has anyone else noticed that ever since this announcement Vampire 1 stopped going on sale? Before the announcement trailer it regularly sold for $4.99, since the announcement the cheapest price anywhere has been $9.99 and most of the time it's $19.99

I just want to play Vampire the Masquerade god damnit I don't care about the sequel (well, I do, but not on release).

At this point in time, you have no reason not to just pirate it if you don't like the price. It's a 16-year old game, none of the proceeds would be going to the original developers. If you're paying anything for it, just do it to line the pockets of whatever digital store you like the most. GoG for example has it at a discount right now. It's not exactly $4.99, but it's close enough.

Well, yeah, obviously I'd be buying it off GoG.

I'm just saying the price cuts stopped just as they announced the new game. Not my imagination, you can see it here: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/vampiremasqueradebloodlines/history/

A -20% cut for a 16-year-old game? Get outta here. That's Nintendo pricing.

I have a feeling Paradox may have upped the royalty/licensing fees on Bloodlines 1 in preparation for the announcement of Bloodlines 2 and the inevitable increase in brand interest, and the online stores just passed the markup on to the customers.

What they did to him and tried to do is reprehensible. It still makes my blood boil what this shitty culture of tweet accusations did to him. I will be forever mad people can baselessly accuse others these days and have their entire lives work blacklisted.

I get the feeling that by the time this game is released,(assuming it releases, lol) Cyberpunk 2077 will be fully fixed up and have multiple FLC, DLC/Expansions and will be overall a much better game. I'd argue based on that combat footage posted in this thread that Cyberpunk 2077 as it is now is a better game, simply because the combat actually works and is fun.

It's sad honestly, I would have liked Bloodlines to have a good sequel.

I am just glad Paradox had the good sense to see the abomination that was about to born and decided aborting it was the better option. It's rare to see in today's video game industry.

Yeah, the game that was being made would have been fucking terrible, thing is, I don't know if whoever Paradox puts on the project will be able to do better. To the best of my knowledge, Paradox itself has no experience making first-person action rpgs.

They have a good track record with third person RPGs. I don't see why they can't translate that into first person. They just need to actually hire a competent studio.

Obsidon is the rumor (delusion)
And it would still be bad by a narrative standpoint. They don't have any good writers and think hiring WildStar's lead designer as one was a good idea. Remember that cringy Joker Malkavian Christmas trailer? Now he's a cartoon character and instead of Outer World's "Women Led Capitalism = Good" we get "Women Led Camarilla = Good". It'll also depend on who they have on contract given how that company is a revolving door.

Don't worry, we'll see Bloodlines 2 yet. They've spent too much on this project to just let it die on the vine.

It really depends on how much usable material they inherited from Hardsuit. Most of these cases of a game getting passed around by studios that release are basically the result of the last party doing what they can to bodge the mess they inherited together into something that technically works. Unless Paradox wants to pay for the game twice, they might just cut their losses
