I wonder if the malkavian protags will constantly hallucinate/hear voices like in the previous game or if that's too problematic. I really liked having a conversation with the tv and the voices getting more intense in the scene with the cab driver.

Making a fun immersive Malkavian might work if they wrote it as a more upbeat Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

this game will fucking suck the writers are some SJW morons who think that fat characters trigger fat people and wont have anything taboo like pornstar, crazy malkavians and anything problematic. that trailer fucking sucked

I genuinely have no idea how to take that trailer. Some of it looked good. Some of it was just weird. And some of it was off putting. None of it really reminded me of the best of the original game they're trying to sell this as a sequel to.

I think the reason it felt so off to me was how jilted the animations in the pre rendered cinematics were, they almost look like they were made in sfm. If the animations in the trailer are bad how bad are the animations going to be in game? I'm expecting a mass effect andromeda style animation shit show out of this honestly.

And yet they dont put any gameplay in it. I still have concerns.

Studio was criticized heavily for bad animation and overall raw state of the game when they released a gameplay video. That was the reason they decided to move the release date.
And once again I’m glad I didn’t hyped when they announced game and didn’t get a preorder. They started to take money just after showing a cinematic, ffs.
And once again I hear “it’s a small studio that makes ambitious game, dont be harsh”/”we love the first game not for gameplay or graphics, don’t talk bad about game before you know the story”.

Also haven’t seen it posted here yet. Booboos who made a visual novel announced new game about Lasombra.

If it's as obnoxious as Coteries of New York count me out. Also Lasombra in V5 are just a sad former shadow (har) of the actual clan. Why would they ever leave the Sabbat when the terms to join the Camarilla are so fucking ridiculous? They would have spit in their faces and told the Cam to go spin on some stakes. Having their elders leave the clan to the 'Call' isn't going to make the Sabbat break in any way either considering their tactics of mass embrace. Just a lazy way to sweep them under the rug so people can't play 'problematic' characters.

I'm not even a fan of playing the Sabbat itself but I feel the urge to defend them as the game's intended antagonist. Because what conflict is there in v5 without them? The Cams? Because clearly we're supposed to be playing rah rah fight the power thinblood Anarchs? Fuck off.

Now main conflicts are vampires/inquisition and cam/anarchs, ye. I love Sabbat and my fav clan is tzimisce and they just throw them away. There are still remainings of Sabbat but most of them spy in Camarilla. I think they didn’t like how problematic the sabbat is, but they needed to keep Lasombras in game because they are popular so they forced them into Camarilla. There’s even a game scenario in V5’s Chicago by night in which players have to help Lasombras get the place in local Camarilla.

I am so glad my only exposure to VtM has been a single TT game of Revised about a decade ago and the first Bloodlines occasionally ever since then. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who's been a fan and has experienced first-hand its decline into the ground with no survivors.

i want to be hyped for this game but my gut keeps telling me not too.

I'm guessing history is going to repeat itself and it's going to be worth playing but flawed, like the first game.

You really can't emphasize enough how truly terrible the combat in the first game is and yet it's still worth playing due to the strength of the writing, role playing and interesting locales to visit.

So long as the sequel can deliver on those things it should be fine.

I never expected there to be a Bloodlines 2 in the first place, so I definitely feel like people should go easy on it considering how unlikely it's existence is in the first place.

You are giving this game way too much credit. Nothing I've seen in any trailer or gameplay demo has given me any hope this will be as good as the original. Nothing. And in this day and age, you can't even trust trailers or demos because they actively hide how shit a game is. The fact that this game still looks uninspired, with that in mind, really says something. The current state of the tabletop game and the fact that it is current year and agenda pushing is everywhere nowadays also do not inspire me with confidence.

First alarm bell for me was the emphasis on pronouns over gameplay features.
The Nosferatu were behind this confirmed.

Well, it’s not like fans are in much pain tbh. We still have older rule books and OWoD and stuff. We can still take some interesting things from V5 and just slap it on older rules as a homebrew, this game was never about a perfect balance anyway. The rule “everything is up to storyteller and if you need change the rules for better drama, go for it” hasn’t gone.
But this shitstorm is fun to look at nonetheless.

Oh, I may have only done the one game of VtM, but I have done plenty of other stuff since then, so I know how it goes with house rules and lore. I can speak from experience with a different game that its still rather bittersweet to be forced to ignore new shitty stuff instead of getting new good stuff to build on and with.
