"Between the frustrating performance issues, clunky combat, shallow RPG tools, and a thoroughly meandering story, I find it hard to recommend Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 at all. This is a game that had so much promise, and maybe that's why it had to fall so spectacularly short of every expectation. It reaffirmed my opinion that the visual novels are the best video game iterations of the World of Darkness you can play right now if you're after an atmospheric, gothic vampire tale. Or maybe Sharkmob's Blood Hunt would be your (blood) bag, if you wanted something more vamp combat-oriented."

Sounds like I was right, it's going to be bland and forgettable which is a worst fate than a dumpster fire pile of shit because if it was an abysmal pile of shit people would remember it for the lulz and memes it would be this generations Ride to Hell Retribution. Also last time time I checked Blood Hunt has been taken off life support and that was a year or so ago.

Give me rainbows but I think that's just the starting set of abilities
Ok I was wrong. That's literally it lol. you can steal other classes abilities, but they don't stack on top of your class specifics so you have to mix and match.

Guy who has no prior knowledge reviews it.

He likes the story and atmosphere but cited a lot of back tracking and repetitive enemy types as a problem. You literally get all your abilities in the 1st 2 hours. Side quests are not too inspired, either being fetching quests or killings.

At least it isn't 80 dollars on launch

If not even the faggots in "games media" are defending it, it's really going to be forgotten after a few days. The only silver lining is that maybe the writing isn't as pozzed as presumed, otherwise the usual suspects would be rushing to prop it up. Still, seems to be too bland for full price. Maybe a deep discount for the story, if it's confirmed not to be just modern audience slop.

One of the biggest flubs they made is releasing it in the period of time this sites resident faggot polack lolcow DSP would call the "white hot gaming season" aka the time of year when all the AAA titles release for the upcoming holiday season. We got BF6 that came out less than a week ago and what's been the talk of the town is the Bops7 beta nobody will give a shit.

A first person melee brawler is like one step above an RPG Maker game on the lazy scale and actually I've seen people make some pretty crazy shit with RPG Maker so I'm not even sure I can say that.

I was joking before when I said they were looking for a release window that would give them an excuse for this bombing when GTA6 was rumored to have a release date for this month. They might have actually been looking for exactly that.

I'm honestly more curious just how much Paradox dumped into this trash fire. I know it's not going to make a profit, I just want to see how bad the damage is. That and how cheap physical copies go at the local Walmart, assuming they actually made physical copies. I've bought some terrible games when they've hit clearance prices...

I'll take Redemption any day, they laid the foundation for that Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age 3D combat years before anyone else.
Only thing about that is redemption can be even buggier than bloodlines at times. Never got anywhere near finishing it despite multiple attempts over the years because of that

and i'm saying that as somebody who through sheer determination managed to get through bloodlines after a bizarre bug kicked in that locked the camera view into a side view like a mortal kombat game. That was a fucked up experience to say the least

None of these early reviews answer the truly burning question about the game that everybody is dying to know

.....will chuck be coming back

Truly an inspiring idea from the designer. Must have been working overtime, nights and weekends to come up with that one

  • "Entrancing Kiss": Kiss an individual to Entrance them for a period, making them an ally that will defend you from others. The weaker the will of the target, the longer they will be Entranced.
I'm surprised they'd put anything like that in the game. You just know somebody is going to reee about how rapey it is

Apparently you can pick up dropped up enemy guns with your vampire telekinesis and throw them at enemies but not actually shoot them.

Why? What's the reasoning behind something so silly?

If they were competent, perhaps something about “Your Character has been dormant for hundreds of years, they don’t know what guns are”, just a throwaway line like that.

Which still leads into “Why does no one teach you how to use a gun?”, to which my only logical response is that the Devs are incompetent and it was just easier to just have the legally distinct Physics Gun rather than design, code, and test usable firearms.

It would involve having to come up with a ranged combat system, which would clearly be fucking ludicrous. Odds are, it's going to be something like Vampyr (Also made by walking simulator developers): It may look interesting at first glance, but it's going to be most shallow and basic shit ever seen (Hell, the trailers are already showing that).

I understand that it's a videogame but in the VTM lore elder vampires are incredibly powerful almost godlike, regular humans with guns and lesser vampires shouldn't even be able to touch you let alone make you bleed.

That sounds hilarious. Will probably buy it when it hits under $20 on a Steam sale.
