It just blows my mind. How could they fuck up such an easy layup? Sexy Vampire game. The guys want to play as a suave, dangerous and powerful monster out to "slay" the ladies and the competition, while the gals want to play as a sexy femme fatale that "slays" in three inch heels. Nobody wants to play as a gender blob worried about pronouns!

WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND??!?!
If you've gone to a VtM LARP, a lot of the players look like blobs but dress as their super edgy gothic OCs that are 100% the hot badass vampire they wish they were. Give them a ton of fashion plus a hot vampire and they would be obsessively playing and posting screenshots, especially since 1) their LARP group probably died from drama or COVID restrictions, 2) They don't have to deal with their OC "Eithne Amoradella, beautiful Toreador favored by the Prince and feared by the Sabbat", being represented as a pudgy uggo in overly tight clothes and 3) None of that Mind's Eye Theatre shit where you have to show people flashcards when doing your vampire magic.

Simple; you take the cheaper bids from companies and don't think at all if they can execute. That's especially the reasoning here, since they already burned through one dev team.

I could understand taking Hardsuit Labs for its first attempt, since they're small, but did have experience in games like CoD and State of Decay. The first company had at least some engineering chops and you could not have known how bad they'd be by themselves at the time. Their idea at the time was that Bloodlines 2 would be the AA game that heralds a wave of new product and IP, and they thought that while big, it's small enough that the company could do it.

But they could not execute since they only ever did support and were too small. I think it was the first time they ever did a game on their own without a dev from the main company looking over them, and paradox is actually abusive and cuntish to contractors. Also the devs were fucking idiots if I recall.

But the choice to move it to Chinese Studios simply because they made Amnesia a decade ago was retarded. The idiots who preceeded the current idiots at Paradox probably just saw they did horror once and said "good enough". So we're getting stolen assets from other games, lazy texture designs to avoid hiring designers, and probably just walking or stolen old build ideas at best.

When they announced this and said it was set in Seattle I was hyped for my Ventrue Frasier Crane character. It's 70 years later, the game's not out but will be awful when it is, and there's a new Frasier that's abyssmal and in Boston. Thanks, mass media!

It's just depressing isn't it. They already had the blueprint. Just do VtM:Bloodlines, but in Seattle with upgraded graphics. That's it. That is all you had to do. You could have a 4k HD version of the space needle, a full rendering of the wharf area complete with Starcucks Coffee, and maybe even play into the ferry system around Seattle to go to the "Wilderness" of Kitsap, or the fuck huge Nuclear Submarine base there. Hell, now that I think about it, that Nuclear Sub Base could make a bitching main quest hook. All within the confines of a city that gets rain every day of the fucking year and is dark and Grey when its not raining. So much potential for storylines, quests, and adventure all within the bounds of our "reality".

Instead we get a Gender seminar. And a never ending production. Paradox should just kill the project. Its going to do irreparable damage to the IP. Start over from scratch and actually hire people who give a shit. There is no cost recovery from this. Every day its being worked on is lost money and the moment its released all future money will be lost too.

One has to wonder how much has been poured into the project in totality across the multitude of studios. At this point, I'd imagine its up there somewhere around $100m, perhaps more.

Wonder if Paradox ever approached Arkane. Arkane Lyon is currently working on a doomed-to-fail Blade game and Austin got shoah'd after shitting out Redfall, though Austin was the only branch that ever made a halfway decent game (Lyon has released twice as many games as Austin in the last 15 years or so and all of them are horrid), but Arkane would only make sense if Bloodlines 2 is gonna be an imsim, which I don't think it will be, or at least not any more of an imsim than Thief 4 was. Imsims are notoriously expensive to develop relative to their expected returns, which is probably why the AA/AAA space has all but abandoned the genre.

Yeah but they're kind of what you'd expect, a bunch of unsociable autists run by incompetent people, mostly just an excuse to drink at a themed bar since the only people who actually get into it are capital R Retarded and get WAY too into it.

Pretty much this. Say what you will about Hardsuit Labs, but at the very least they had the original Bloodlines writer and the composer of the OST on board, which were two of the largest factors on why the game has endured in the public consciousness to this day. Replacing them with a bunch of literals whos whose biggest claim to fame are walking simulators and the worst Amnesia game is an objective downgrade.

Just for the hell of it, I checked the VTMB subreddit, and what little talk of the game there is is mostly negative. If you can't generate hype in one of the largest fan communities out there, you absolutely fucked up.

There is no cost recovery from this. Every day its being worked on is lost money and the moment its released all future money will be lost too.
There was gameplay in the first trailer from 6 years ago. The fact that they would feel confident enough to release that trailer implies that the game was close to being ready back then, unless they were getting ahead of themselves, or decided to ditch everything and start from scratch in the time since.

They should probably just release what they have at this point, and try to recoup the sunk cost of the bloated development. The problem is that they don't have an incentive to do that, because if the game turns out to be terrible, then it makes them look terrible for having spent the better half of a decade on it.

Then the summer of floyd happened and the game is set in Seattle where a lot of dumb progressive shit went down. Maybe they got uncomfortable. The second delay of the game was announced in July 2020. With a couple of angry activist writers/developers on the team the project might have been going into fiery but mostly peaceful development hell.
 
This is old news that I am only archiving since the videos have been removed and can only be found on a Russian website called VK. Two years ago, a former level designer from Hardsuit Labs released footage of Bloodlines 2, the original videos as well as any reuploads were taken down.

The first video takes place in a hospital that is reminiscent to Ocean View Hotel and the second video is the warehouse with the Malkavian.




There is that Skyrim mod that was seeking to remake VTM Redemption and it looked pretty bitching. Not sure what happened to it tho, maybe its still going or maybe it got fucked.
They are still working on VTM Reawakened. Their plan is to make VTM Redemption and VTM Chronicles, an expansion that will have character customization with an original story. The lead developer said that it might be released in 2026 or 2027 and it would be in four episodes for each game with each city containing 25% of the content.
