Phyre, wether for a male or female character, is Coldsteel The Edgehog-tier bad. Not even the V5 "writers" would come up with something this shitty.

Phyre is a ridiculous name but it would only make any sense if its a specific character who is a modern vampire. Like a female that worked at Hot Topic before she was embraced. Its not a name for an Elder or a male. Maybe a modern Malkavian male who is paranoid about hunters and is using a name like Phyre to throw them off his trail.

People have been complaining about the name since the trailer, everybody wants to choose their own name. The Chinese Room have no plans on changing the name since that would require a rewrite, they were foolish enough to write dialogue where the protagonist is named.

They plan on a 2024 Fall release date, I don't see that happening with what they have revealed so far. The majority of the people that want a Bloodlines 2 hates this game.

The comment on "We're reusing old level design, but totally changing the gameplay systems" really raises my eyebrows, because that sounds like an easy way to get a bunch of levels that feel off. Now, granted, they aren't reinventing the wheel with their gameplay and it's not like it's some kind of action platformer, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few places in the game where you work through it while going "why does this feel so out of place?" If it's just art assets, then that's one thing, but I don't know...

The name shit should have been quashed as soon as it was brought up in planning. I'm just imagining the other vamps in the 1600/1700s or whenever being introduced to her and going, "Oh, 'Phyre'? What an... interesting name." Don't even get me started on the whole "she's so special and strong she has abilities that everyone else doesn't, because she's so cool!"

How i feel about that part with the skill tree and unlocking old powers, this is simply not how shit works in accordance with its source material. I am bracing for "Your melee attacks do 5% more damage" and "You suck blood faster" bullshit with the occassional, meaningless perk thrown in for good measure. The Bethesda blue print pretty much. Not that i was expecting anything good from this game in the first place, mind.

So, let's see... you were 200 years old when you got shoved in torpor for 100, so that would be what, early 1700's was your Embrace? So you'd be around 10th Generation? And you've been knocked down to what, 13th by those sigils and stripped of most of your Disciplines? Talk about fucking dogshit, especially with that terrible name they can't do jack about due to integrating it into dialogue. Oops.

At least this can't bomb any harder than Suicide Squad did.

Whats the point of playing an Elder Vampire if you are gimped? If these tards had a modicum of writing ability they would have made this less "plucky rebel on a revenge quest" and more "deposed king returning from the dead to reclaim Kingdom". Much more interesting to play as someone looking to overthrow the existing power structure and replace it with their own. Whatever that may look like based on role play choices. Level progression can be less "oh noes, I've been pwned like a retard" and more "I've been asleep for so long I need more time to wake up, and remember things".

There should at least be a couple chapters where you play at full power though, and the end game would just be living in the persistent world you created like what happens after you finish the main storyline of GTA.

But what do I know. I'm just a hater on the internet.

I'd say fair odds that the elder generations are still involved at the level of the Camarilla/Sabbat. Though if this Fyre is 10th, that isn't a low enough generation to really be considered an elder. In the tabletop, vampires start at 13th gen if they haven't put any points into upgrading and could start as low as 8th if they max out their generation background. It's when you get below 8th that you're really getting into the millennia-old creature of darkness far detached from the petty concerns of the Jyhad categories of vampire.

For some reason recent vampire fags have a bizarre hardon for 15th+ generation shitty half-vampires, I dunno why, but at least in the 90s a 13th gen was considered a newbie vamp fresh off the boat.

The whole generation thing seems like a continuity issue because even in the dark ages sourcebooks they talk about beyond the 13th generation and thinbloods and this is 14th century we're talking about so what happened in the past 700 years did they perform a purge of the later generations or something?

It's because for whatever dumb reason the people hired on to make 5th edition vampire was obsessed with them. I suspect it's because they looked at their status in vamp society and connected way too hard with them. The result of this garbage is that they now have one of the most stupid disciplines ever made that's genuinely unbalanced, and are now a clan that is treated with any seriousness at all.

It's literally the biggest reason I consider it so bad as a book, since while Hunter and Werewolf had garbage in them too, that bullshit was actively infuriating to me. It was done purposefully due to really retarded reasoning and what I honestly think is a fictional group of people claiming to want to play them tbh. It also is one of several changes that were flagrantly retarded, like binding all the clans that played with necromancy into one group.

See if you picked thin-blood, you knew you were going to be up shit's creek. Your low as fuck blood pool, the fact you had to burn twice as much of it to use a discipline, and ghoul like fragility were intrinsically going to hamper you. As was your ignorance of kindred society due to being on the outs. Your main advantages were you passed for human a hell of a lot better, could resist sunlight (it was only lethal and only if you were directly in it), wake up easier, and the ST was occasionally supposed to give you hints of what the movers and shakers were up to. I don't recall if frenzies were easier to resist, but that'd be something reasonable to add too, since the beast isn't as defined inside you.

I genuinely think this is mostly a top-down decision, and if it has any traction, it's mainly because one of the things you can do with that retarded alchemy bullshit is make sunlight grenades.

I can't believe how much of a monkey paw it's been for another bloodlines game. This recent iteration of bloodlines 2 doesn't even feel like a sequel, but another vampire masquerade cheap game being churned out. I don't even know if I want a remake of the original game either now, cause it probably lose a lot of the spirit the original had and freedom in it. Which sucks, cause I really enjoyed the aesthetic and atmosphere the game had. Wish it could just be realized with modern day graphics and a finished product that wasn't rushed to completion.

I'm just waiting for one of two things: for Paradox to again announce they're pulling the project and giving it to a third even more incompetent team of idiots, or they actually push through.

It can go either or, since Paradox is very stubborn with this one despite how poisoned it is at this point. It'd only get either shat out or cancelled fully once the rest of the company realizes how much money they're burning due to mental retardation and then decide that money better than pride or whatever non-profit horseshit they overcommit to.

My money's on them absolutely releasing it, but maybe delaying it to winter this year or further, depending on how it's shaping up. Paradox already had their stocks tank by ~33% since August with them publishing shit like Lamplighters League and a broken City Skylines 2. I think it would take a huge fan outcry to get them to scrap what they have again.

Honestly, I think they're stalling trying to find a way to cancel it and write it off for tax purposes.

can they afford to release another Turd though? The only hype around this game is Anti-Hype. Everyone who would constitute the core audience of the game is expecting it to be bad, because they teased the fans of the original game with it back in 2019 and all the news since them has been awful around thr project.

Unless people managed to get refunds from the initial pre-order wave, they'll probably be fine. That shit exploded, but it won't be the profit they could have had if they didn't dick around so much hiring incompetents - political or otherwise.
Im actually looking forward to seeing how trashy this gets
In some sick way I am too. I loved the first Bloodlines, but a part of me just wants to see this crash and explode... and hopefully take Paradox with it.
