The combat in B1 is what I call very middle heavy, it's shit at the beginning cause you have shit weapons and no skills and it's shit at the end because the bosses past Bach are straight up bullet sponges.
If you spec for guns and get the good ones from Mercurio the bosses melt like butter. Even the last ones become a joke.

Thinking back there were playthrough were shit wouldn't trigger and I don't know why if it was a bug or I needed a certain rank in something but there were times the crossbow, the really good katana, the slingblade or the flamethrower weren't available.

Crossbow isn't good. You want to use the rapid fire weapons like the Steyr Aug. They are the boss killers. Just buy a bunch of ammo from the store and hold down the left mouse button and watch everything die. Don't forget Auspex and Celerity if you have them.

By the end of me Toreador playthrough, i was unironically Neo from the Matrix, dodging bullets and blasting humans/vampires with a revolver or Steyr Aug. That was fun as hell. My latest playthrough (as a nosferatu) was rather boring only because i made it boring. sneaking past all encounters or snake kill everything. I sometimes came out of hiding and punched things to death (unaramed was very underpowerd by the end. should have gone melee.).

Nah, I thought Bloodlines 1's combat was solid, even if charmingly janky. It certainly ain't nothing to write home about, and it's not balanced well, but it had a real crunchy feel to it, felt like the abilities mixed with the gunplay and melee well enough to make builds feel different. Think my favourite combat section was during the blood hunt where you're mainly fighting vampires who have all the same moves as you. If the game cut it out, I'd miss it. Stealth was fucking inconsistent though.
The only people who criticize VTMB 1's combat have never ran around bullets at Celerity 5 or melee'd an enemy at Potence 5 and watched the ragdoll fly through the air.

Does it look janky? Who cares, it's fun as fuck.

I just did a Katana build. Didn't have too worry about ammo, and then just made sure too max out blood buff so any fight I couldn't just talk my way out off went quick.

Also, save the flamethrower for the chinky bitch.

On the topic of the 1st game has anyone tried any of the fan made expansion offerings like joining the Sabbat?

The Clan Quest mod? Pretty good, if a bit buggy at times. Be mindful through that unlike the base game, you can go below three Humanity. So if you're playing Sabbat, you can't just wantonly kill every human and diablerize every vamp (yes, diablerie is a thing in it) because if your Humanity hits zero, it's a game over as your character will go permanently feral when you enter the city hub maps.

I'm not sure if I'm imaging things, but the VTMB subreddit has been brigaded HARD for the last couple of months, chock full of retards either getting on their knees and blowing the new game based on a couple of trailers which show almost nothing, or trying to spin bullshit takes like "Well, Bloodlines 1 wasn't that good anyway/It hasn't aged well/There were some problematic things in it".

Between this and the negative hype they've been generating, I'm pretty sure the launch is going to be completely underwhelming, to say the least.

This is pretty standard now, these are paid off shills that market the game to the clueless retards that need their own opinions read out to them on a flashcard. In other words, the only potential VTM:B2 customers. No doubt they will be flocking to /v/ now to make totally organic posts about the game, assuming they haven't already done so.

Why the fuck wouldnt they just call this something else if it was just going to be a sloppy hack job from being stuck in dev hell for eternity? Vampire The Masquerade : Gay Fag Phyre, or some shit?

Then if it does well enough you can re-announce Bloodlines 2 with the budget and scope it deserves.

i liked christopherodd's let's play of the first one like a thousand years ago
won't buy nor play the second game but i'm interested in watching another odd let's play

It's the "'you will consoom modern slop and you will be happy' brigade who never played the first game" again.

I dont want to sound elitist or gateguard-ish but anyone who played Bloodlines 1 will see how much of a downgrade bloodlines 2 is. Those people defending/dick riding this new aberration deserve gehenna upon them.
