@Dixieland Buckaroo how long were you playing the Deck? If for hours and hours, did the thing get hot really quickly? Were you ever in fear of having the thing overheat to where it might brick/explode on you? Does that also depend on what game you're playing?

From what I've seen hardware wise, they seem to cramp the important bits in one space with little ventilation.

Heat dissipation is surprisingly good, Gamers Nexus channel on YouTube covered the thermals and the device actually performs better wrt temperature with the case on.

In terms of my usage so far, it varied. My longest session was 4+ hours continuous of Katamari. The grips never got hot. The device maybe got a little warm when playing Cyberpunk? Or it may just have been my sausage fingers heating it while playing a pseudo shooter. Also had a few 100% usage mucking around with emulators, during which the screen does warm up, but that was me being stupid more than the normal operation of the device.

The exhaust is on the back toward the right grip, and maybe on the top? Back may be an inlet? I'm not a fucking physicist. Don't block either and users should be fine. Could easily prop it in your lap, but there could be some heat shooting down toward your junk.

In terms of comparing it to various laptops I've used, it runs cooler, across the board, cooler than even a Surface Pro.

If you're playing in a quiet room, you will hear the fan. A Noctua it is not. If you have something else in the background, you probably won't notice the fan.

Steve Jobs won and there's nothing you can do about it.

Those girls wish they could dominant like Heavy in TF2. They’d probably think Scout is only funny because he uses dispensers.
Left girl looks like the Penguin had a sex change, and right looks like a dude who can pass well in a drunken environment like that. They probably just wish they didn't look that way.

The thumbnail for this otherwise informative video about a neat piece of hardware is tragically not doing any favors for the Steam Deck crowd. Keep the bearded women out of your hobby.
Cmon it's just tech Jesus, though I agree the pose he's making in the thumbnail is kinda effeminate. Looks like he's trying to model a nose ring or necklace.

@Dixieland Buckaroo How does emulation work on it? I'm interested to see how stuff like 86box fares on a portable PC.
I haven't tried that, but it handles up through PS2 well. PS3 is dicey, really depends on the game. Dosbox runs fine, no surprise there. Pretty much anything Nintendo runs on it fine, but the state of switch emulation is a bit hit and miss.
