I'm a bit of an outlier, but even though I was annoyed by the no portalling thing at first, I don't mind it now.

Gives me an excuse to sail, which is pretty comfy.

Hopefully get attacked by delicious serpents too.

I wish they had planned the sea update earlier because IMO it's the area of the game that is both the best and the worst. The best is the random encounters, the feeling of riding a cresting wave -- I mean at times you can almost smell the salt in the air...but then the wind goes out, you can't get where you want to go even by tacking (or maybe you can can but it's dreadfully slow) and basically you just wait. What if you could fish or dive or do something other than just wait? That would be nice.

Was fucking around in the swamp last night. I don't know if it's just my seed or what but it's a series of fucking islands that require a good 10 second swim between. So I'm just getting murked by fucking leeches and shit and can't do anything in the water then I get onto a little island, literally not bigger than a 5x5 square, and I've got blobs and shit everywhere. It's just a huge POA, even with potion resist. I'm thinking of just taking my boat through it and hopping off when I find my first crypt.

I do like the sausages I can make now. Oh yea, tasty entrails.

Wouldn’t simple wooden bridges be an option?

Yea but I'm lazy. Some people have a lot of patience and shit I'm more of a charge in, get what I need and get out type. I think I will try the boat plan tonight and just arrow down the mobs and then when I see a crypt exit the boat. Speaking of that I really need to make a cart path from my main to the copper resources in the Forest. Always something to do!

Watch out for monster generators (bone and body piles). Those stupid things will spawn critters until you destroy them, and I've found them out in the open in the swamp, not just in crypts.

On the upshot, collected a shitload of iron earlier, forged an iron mace for dealing with Bonemass when I find his altar, also built a stonecutting table. Whee!

so you do like sosigs hmm? don't go the @YachieKicchou route to start loving black sosigs.... hehe

one thing is that sea serpents take one/two hits with basic bows but can destroy boats easily, don't expect your raft to tank the damage and the 1st tier boat will be seriously fucked once you finish them if you didn't got in the attack aoe, they specifically target the boats.

not really, you need alot of materials and stamina for that, plus monsters can and will destroy it, you'll need the hoe too to level and raise terrain and to get that working on the ocean biome is a bitch.

you should use the standard club or the stagbreaker against bonemass, he takes massive damage from both at level 3+, shit even using your hands deal alot of damage to him.

I'll experiment, though I am 2 for 2 so far on killing bosses on the first try. So I'm not exactly worried. I just got his location, but UNFORTUNATELY goddamnit he is on another island from the one I'm at. Oh well, this gives me time to armor up and upgrade all my shit.

When you explore those sunken crypts, stop to check everything. A lot of stuff can blend into the background, including chests set into wall niches. And often times those chests contain scrap iron among other things.

I admit I looked up some bonemass strategies last night. He scares me. Seems like stagbreaker plus poison resist and stamina potions is the way to go. I explore the crypts a bit in the swamp, pretty fun. I'm looking forward to making some new stuff.

IMO, the sunken crypts are actually pretty easy, easier than the burial chambers were. Probably because by that point you should have some good armor and weapons. Plus many passages are initially blocked by the muddy scrap piles, and critters can't bumrush you as easily.

Now that I have the stonecutter table, I may do major renovations at my home base. Already built a new hearth.

Yea agree, it's easier then getting swarmed by skeletons back before you got any bronze stuff.

I advise that if you find a sosig Draugr village that you put a portal nearby and leave it alone.

Because it's free entrails.

Starting to get a little burnt out as I mine iron. It's very tedious. I did find the trader finally tho and got the strength bonus, which helps. I was on an epic journey where I was sailing for about an hour and finally found him. When I got to land my boat literally had one tick of health left. Was very lucky. I had to fend off a serpent and the fucking sail kept blocking my view and then when I finally got him down to near death he ran off. Whatever I got the chitlin for the harpoon now.

The game is rather linear at this point and I've ran out of fun building satellite bases. The portal system is helpful but in a way I wish they would just make sailing faster or the world smaller.

The game needs more random instances to be generated in general to make exploring more rewarding. That said, the Draugr villages are pretty damn cool.

I'm surprised it's lasted so long with such a tiny variety in creatures and things to do. I'm still having fun with it, although I am admittedly taking it very slow, and I really hope the developers don't drop the ball with this one. There are a ton of interesting creatures from Norse mythology (or just animals from Scandinavia) they could still add, as well as more ruins and dungeons. Warded towers/castles/forts that you would have to explore in order to find and destroy the ward so you can either take over or destroy would be a good start.

Def more creatures. Supposedly there is a "mini boss" system in the works. When I was sailing I got site of a new continent but it was just the same mobs as the forest on my starter island ya know? If they had a mini boss system where you'd encounter them while exploring it would keep things much more interesting past the first 30 or so hours.

They definitely need more variety in critters. And a couple of the monsters don't really fit Norse mythology (looking at you, stone golem).

I've felled Bonemass, am now working my way into the mountains.

Something that I'd like for building stuff is a wall that's only half as wide as a regular wall, would be neat to make small bays that protrude from walls and similar things. Might also help with aligning stuff at 45° angles... Can't build with stone yet, so I am making a foundation for a castle with the hoe, it's quite a chore to terraform and while the hoe allows you to dig quickly with one swing and it's reasonably accurate to use, but building upwards is way too costly. Especially since you get way less stones from digging than what you need to build.

On the bright side: I killed my first troll without dying today and it was the 4th overall. I almost managed to bring down the 3rd troll without much of a scratch, but he backed me into the coastline and I ended up in the water without any stamina left, so I had the choice between drowning and being beaten into a pulp, so I chose the warrior's death.
Quite annoyingly, once I respawned, the troll did indeed die with the first arrow. C'est la vie.

>open whurl
Hard pass.
I too love to seek out games that don't fit my personal tastes and then loudly proclaim my tastes to a crowd of people with different tastes.

There really isn't a good way to deal with trolls, outside of 'riddle them with arrows'. They're weak against piercing, resist bludgeoning damage, and are immune to spirit damage. So your best bet is to kite the big dumb fuckers and try not to burn too much stamina running.

Dragurfang makes short work of them, once you get it.

Yeah, I just forged and upgraded it to level 2, and I'm packing poison arrows. So I doubt they'll be more than an inconvenience for much longer.

I'll be honest, I fucking hate the stone golems. 'Vulnerable to pickaxe'. Yeah, but a pickaxe's wind up and parry is so bad you're better off using a mace.
