Taxing the endowments is fine but its the equivalent of solving weath inequality by taking it from musk or bezos. Its a drop in the bucket.

Some kind of forgiveness or reform has to happen. Though whats likely is it just hyperinflated away

Taxing endowments isn't just about the money. The reason universities raise their tuition at such a high rate is to keep their endowments tax free. I'm not looking up the case, it's something like IRS vs MIT, but what it comes down is that MIT successfully argued in court that it's a charity because so many students can't afford to go there, and they get some scholarship from the endowment.

This resulted in a formula, where a certain percentage of your students must be unable to afford the sticker price, and a certain amount of money from your endowment must be spent to subsidize them. The perverse consequence of this is that you have to make sure the sticker price on your university's education is high enough to keep it unaffordable to keep your tax-free status.

The other problem is that student loans are basically uncapped. Nobody should be allowed to borrow $100K+ for a degree. If it weren't for the federal loan program, nobody would be able to get the money to pay for higher ed, and they'd have to cut the price.

Watching the positions flip on computerised ballot counting was one of the big thunk moments of the last 25 years.
hand counting can have human error, just fucking have a paper ballot do a fucking tabulator and hand counting.

if there is a deviation investigate it. and finally have multiple agency inspect the tabulators etc.

I know this is a tangent, but I also have heard the take that Kennedy was taken out by the mafia. He betrayed them after they helped to steal the election against Nixon and it always sounded like a very plausible motive to take him down. That doesn't rule out the CIA collaborating with them or acting as an unseen hand since I also perfectly believe it, I was just wondering if the mafia angle is ever considered when it comes to the JFK assassination.

The Mafia angle I normally hear is that they were quite upset that Kennedy didn't go harder on Cuba and fucked up the Bay of Pigs, which the Mafia really wanted to work because they had previously owned many casinos and brothels and such on the island where they made a lot of dosh.

Notice how the DNC has 100% control over candidates with their "super-delegates" so it really doesn't matter who the people select the elites have the final say. While the GoPe lacks this layer, at the moment at least, allowing for black swans like Trump to happen no matter how the elites protest.
Neither the DNC nor the RNC are legally required to run a primary. The leadership can simply select their candidate. It would be electoral suicide (see 2016) but the primary process is just a game to get people hyped up and a poll to judge voter sentiment.

Man with handgun seeking governor arrested in Wisconsin Capitol, returns with assault rifle

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A man illegally brought a handgun into the Wisconsin Capitol on Wednesday, demanding to see Gov. Tony Evers, and returned at night with an assault rifle after posting bail, a spokesperson for the state said.
The man, who was shirtless and had a holstered handgun, approached the governor's office on the first floor of the Capitol around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, state Department of Administration spokesperson Tatyana Warrick said Thursday. The man was demanding to see the governor, who was not in the building at the time, Warrick said.
A Capitol police officer sits at a desk outside of a suite of rooms that includes the governor's office, conference room and offices for the attorney general.

The man was taken into custody for openly carrying a firearm in the Capitol, which is against the law, Warrick said. Weapons can be brought into the Capitol if they are concealed and the person has a valid permit. The man arrested did not have a concealed carry permit, Warrick said.
The man was booked into the Dane Count Jail but later posted bail.
He returned to the outside of the Capitol shortly before 9 p.m. with an assault-style rifle, Warrick said. The building closes to the public at 6 p.m. He again demanded to see the governor and was taken into custody.

Madison police reported Thursday that the man, who was not named, was taken into productive custody and taken to the hospital. A spokesperson for the police department did not return an email seeking additional details.
Evers' spokesperson Britt Cudaback declined to comment. The governor's office typically does not respond to questions about security issues.
The incident is just the latest in a series of violent threats against public officials.
Evers, a Democrat, was on a hit list of a gunman suspected of fatally shooting a retired county judge at his Wisconsin home in 2022. Others on that list included Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Whitmer was the target of a kidnapping plot in 2020.
Warrick said no immediate changes to security in the Capitol or for the governor were planned. The public has free access to the Capitol daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are no metal detectors.

based retard

Nice of them to fail to mention how Whitmer kidnapping plot was a total glow op.

Also it is pretty obvious this based retard wasn't actually looking to kill the governor, but to intimidate him. A small but important difference.

I am more interested on he fact that the governor can't be found at his office even on 2pm on a wednesday. Do these fuckers never work?

Someone mentioned this on the thread about the news of the bites, but I think it is a good theory:

Commander isn's feral or really out of control. He actually is a pretty normal and well behaved dog. The problem is Biden's dementia is acting up. Biden while inside the White House isn't as drugged up and managed, so that means he is allowed to act as his normal senile self. People with dementia are suceptible to big swings in emotions and random bouts of rage or despair and such.

Every time Biden has a incident, Commander would notice that he is distressed and get upset as well. And a dog that is upset can lash out. Especially if, say, Biden is throwing a fit because he wants ice cream or he forgot it's 2023 not 2003 and Beau has been dead for years and they can't call him. USSS tries and control Biden, but all Commander sees is his owner being very distressed and angry/upset and some glownigger trying to manhandle him. So he attacks.

It would also explain why it has taken so long to acklowge that Commander has been biting people, and why the few comments that have leaked make it sound like the WH people aren't as distressed about it as they should be over a rabid dog.

lol the uniparty is seriously fucking pissed about Gaetz
the rino dipshits at Americans For Tax Reform bought a ton of radio ad time to cry about McCarthy getting ousted

Oh really fun week or so ahead. Trump is actually attending the Republican closed candidate House forum for Speaker selection next Tuesday (Zerohedge because reported through Twitter)
Former President Donald Trump will attend a GOP closed candidate House forum next Tuesday, where Republicans will discuss potential nominees to replace Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

So far, Reps. Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise have thrown their hats in the ring, however many have floated the prospect of 'Speaker Trump.'

On Wednesday, Trump posted the above photo of himself in the Speaker's chair holding a gavel, however as the NY Post reported the same day, there's a little-known House GOP rule barring anyone with a felony indictment against serving in the role.

"A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years’ imprisonment may be imposed," according to the Republican Conference Rules of the 118th Congress.

That said, the rules could be altered to make way for Trump.

Still a meme, but a not minuscule possibility now the meme won't be a dream
