As a bong I know a little bit about political fiascos, but how the fuck did the democrats do so well considering everything that's gone wrong the last 2 years? The president is a literal dementia sufferer, are most people ok with this?
They cheated, Arthur.

Algorithm's and social psychology are now in full control of the "democratic" process. This has been the tragic conclusion I have reached. Frank Herbert was right. The thinking machines, and the men who control them have taken over. We are living in the pre-Butlerian era. For a long time I had hoped the Starship Troopers scenario of Heinlein would be the result of the western democracies decline into tyranny and decadence. Alas, Herbert hit the nail on the head.

As man gives up his capacity to think to the machines, so then does he become a slave to those machines. Thou shalt not make a machine in the image of a human mind.

Write those words in stone and bury them. Because I am now 100% convinced it will be hate speech in the next 5 years. Our only hope now is to keep the spark of human spirituality alive so that eventually a new elite will challenge the corruption of the current global elites. Probably not in our lifetimes. The lights are going out. I hate to be a doomer, but the final black pill is that among the science fiction lumeries, HERBERT was the prophet is a big one.

Except the country since 1865 has made so many moves to make that shit impossible it’s not even funny.
Except it wouldn't be a war between the states like in 1861, it would be a war between people with blurry frontlines like most civil wars now. I hope it doesn't happen, but it looks more and more likely by the day. If enough people can step up the plate, the movement against the government would snowball and very possibly result in its collapse.
I'm starting to wonder if the SC undid RvW JUST to fuck over the GOP.
Dems would rather pay $20 a gallon gas, spend hundreds of dollars for groceries, be completely locked out of the housing market, and risk possible black outs thanks to green energy that doesn't even fucking work than possibly consider NOT having wild unprotected sex.
If RvW hadn't been nuked, I can see the GOP having a much easier time winning, but the risk of "no more abortions!!" completely blew their chances out of the water.
Also, Gen Z is a lost cause. LOOK AT THE SHIT THEY WATCH. Its not wonder they'd happily vote Blue, even if it fucks them in the ass in the future.
48% of college students believe in the death penalty for hate speech. Younger generations are absolutely brainwashed and the only reason we don't live a totalitarian society right now is because there's too many boomers left.

As this generation gets more and more power, things will get worse and worse. That's why I think we have maybe 15-20 years left, since by then millennials and zoomers will be middle-aged and have a huge amount of power and there won't be any recourse left besides accepting the boot on your neck or violence.
*sigh*

2024 is going to be the United States' last election, isn't it.
Democracy legitimizes the system. The US not having elections is like the Harlem Globetrotters not playing basketball anymore. The GOP are the Washington Generals and any win they achieve is purely a glitch in the system that will be patched over (as it was after 2016). The GOP will always exist to be the foil to the righteous Democrat activists on the Right Side of History.

Amerifats don't have anyone to be a proper monarch or absolutist ruler.
Democracy is only bad when the demos is obese and retarded.
Draw your own conclusions about why democracy in Poland or Hungary is illiberal and cozy, and Westoid democracy is degenerate and brainwormified.

Jesus, this thread is very doomer right now, maybe this will be your whitepill.

Now it's currently 203 D's - 212 R's. With spots in NY, AZ, CO, and CA that look likely for a R win.

If (and as it stands right now, it’s a BIG ‘if’) Lake gets AZ and the House is secured with a slim R majority, I’ll chalk this cycle as a bittersweet victory, one I hope is ultimately super phyrric for the Democrats.

The Senate and presidency is Dem, and the House will be Rep.
Hopefully everything the Dems do gets deadlocked.
Hence, bittersweet. I would rather the power of this administration be greatly inconvenienced than have the unchecked power they’ve wielded for the past two years.

I thought this was the last election? And so was 2020?
You know how the Dems for the last two presidential election cycles dropped millions of dollars into adverts telling voters that the [current year] election will be the most important election in history?

They did that this year too, and people lamenting that this will be the last free election is the inverse of that, and I find it equally annoying.

That’s not to say there isn’t cause for concern though. Even though one of their biggest donors just got kneecapped, the Dems do have the capacity to rig elections into the future, and states with Republican governors and R-majority legislatures should be taking note of these trends going into next year.

Pyrrhic in what way? Sometimes I see people go on about how the "Democrats blew all their war chest" but you know that can't be the case when they always find new ways of fundraising. Remember how in 2020, the vast majority of BLM donations went directly to the Democrats? Or how in this election, some of the money sent to Ukraine (voted universally by Democrats) was diverted to FTX which went to Sam Bankman who by himself spent 40 million on the Democrats? They aren't running out of money anytime soon, and they definitely aren't running out of political capital when they control the narrative and are heroic saviors of democracy and human rights.
I thought this was the last election? And so was 2020?
Honestly I think 2018 might've been that because it was the first conducted under whatever system the Democrats devised to ensure a repeat of 2016 never happened again. 2020 was confirmation, this is just more of the same.
