Chris is autistic so he can get stuck on things sometimes but I think words like "empathy" and "caring" really just mean putting up with his shit. Whenever Catie would ask him to explain why he was being a dick or something he would tell her to empathize.

Its kinda like "think about it" in the ABL calls. I think he uses these words because he thinks that they will magically cause the other person to think exactly like him.

As a normal person, you can be wrong about something and view it from both your own and the other person's perspective and still say "Yeah, I'm wrong." And thats because you're actually able to step out of your own viewpoint and look at how your actions might affect someone else. Chris has an incredibly difficult time with that to say the least. He can't step out of his viewpoint at all. Most people struggle with it but its dangerously bad with Chris.

So he just tells you to look at his way in the hopes you'll magically be like him. Which will never happen.

Chris is an after school special that will never be resolved.

Chris doesn't want others to think like him, he already assumes they think exactly the same as him. It's like every person in the world is just a secondary manifestation of Chris' mind. If they don't understand his behaviour, it's them being either unwilling to think (->trolls) or unable (->idiots), thus not coming to a conclusion that makes Chris behaviour warranted means you are an asshole or stupid.
And the biggest issue isn't even Chris being unable to see from anothers viewpoint or respecting different viewpoints but rather the very basic notion of there even being different (valid) viewpoints.
It's the 'tisms fault Chris doesn't understand other minds, but you can chalk it all up to Borb's parenting that he doesn't even seem to know there's a difference at play, let alone acting accordingly.

You show them a little puppet theatre piece with 2 people, A and B.
A has an apple, puts it on a table and leaves the room. B then hides the apple somewhere (say: in a basket) and leaves as well. Then A returns and the kids that watched are asked if A knows where to look for the apple. Basically, depending on their mental developement, the children might understand that them knowing where the apple is doesn't mean A knows as well...

I would love to see something similar (albeit a bit more elaborate) be tried with Chris.

He is perfectly capable of intellectualizing that type of problem.

It's just that his instincts are off. And he often just runs with his instincts and doesn't bother intellectualizing the problem. But I suppose a clever test would be able to detect that nuance.

Also, a lot of the things I have noticed are the "Y'all should know me by now" variety. It's not usually as egregious as assuming everyone knows things they definitely can't know. Like something he did in private. It's things that someone could know but very likely do not. Like some random episode of a TV show or who Chris and these forums are.

I think it goes back to my pet theory about all of the people in the world being either CWC or different manifestations of the non-CWC entity. Even if his instincts are not always spot on, Chris can comprehend that he has private knowledge. Thoughts he has, things he does in private, etc. But he doesn't have a great sense that everyone else has individual private thoughts as well. If something is known to one non-CWC manifestation, it should be known to them all. Since he knows that some non-CWCs have enough info, struggles with the idea that some non-CWC's don't.
