Also, how Susie is communist if she and Lancer made a cookie stand and charged you 40$ per cookie?

She is a CAPITALIST! You dumb libtards
I don't think Susie has the social awareness of what politics entail, if asked who should she vote between the communist goy and the conservative goy, she's likely gonna ask you to vote her so that she can get funds to turn herself into Susiezilla.

Yeah honestly we've been spinning theories in our heads since 8 years. The ending probably won't live up to 90% of what I've imagined, but I hope it's good nonetheless.

Personally I hope that the darker/serious mood in chapter 4 continues on. Hoping that by the end of the game the Roaring continues to be a purely evil/cataclysmic event.

I don't want "John Roaring" or whatever the fuck to appear from the deepest darkest pit to explain to me the tragic story of "the Roarers" and how the lightners banished them to some pit a la Undertale.
Maybe it'll end up like OMORI, took fucking forever to come out, once it did people glazed it as a stunning and brave masterpiece, only years later do people realize how flawed of an ending it had that dampens everything else about the story. I would hope Toby wouldn't get caught in the same pitfalls as OMOCAT, but we shall see if he's up to it regardless of however long it takes and whatever outside influence would affect his vision.

Is this really the common consensus around omori? I always thought that the ending was perfect and all the issues came from the other parts of the game.

Some people say that the big reveal at the end ruins the buildup beforehand, they saw it as a rugpull that the game had framed itself as Sunny getting over grief then suddenly revealed that he was directly responsible for it all along. I personally disagree, even though a sibling dying is pretty damn traumatic, Sunny's degree of self-isolation seemed extreme and didn't make total sense until the big reveal.
And yeah the issues are from other parts of the game. The game is at its best when the story is in focus, and most of the standard RPG parts felt like boring filler. In a way it's the opposite issue of what The Review said Deltarune had, it doesn't shy away from traditional RPG elements, but those are the game's weakest point.

Considering that King from chapter 1 is so irredeemably evil that they just kept him in a cage after the Fun Gang tried to spare him and then got backstabbed, I'd say he won't pull the "a la Undertale card" on us.
They caged him and Toby made this "irredeemably evil" character say that Lancer wouldn't be hurt if he tossed him off the building because he's a "bouncy boy" or whatever. (chapter 2 I think?)

So basically all the added tension in the boss fight is fake and gay. In isolation it's a good scene, but I personally wouldn't have King say that. I'd have him stay convicted, although guilty of nearly hurting his son. Him and lancer are already goofing around together with the Tenna scene.

Gonna have to agree for now that The Review is right on Toby not being physically able to write contemptible true evil characters. Maybe he'll shrivel up and die if he does.

What was that again?

The ending is gonna be received like how most of chapter 3 was disappointing for a four year wait except for the last five minutes and a week later everyone will go "It was SUPPOSED to be like that!"

I dunno I like Zelda 1 so I didn't mind the SWORD stuff, pain in the ass that John Mantle was notwithstanding.

Dude, I fell in love with Chapter 3 when first playing it. My first thought was "Oh, this is cool! It's like playing console games with friends, this brings me back!" And it helped that Tenna was such a lovable antagonist. Chapter 4 if anything took some time to get used to because it felt so much more tense than what came before it. And it didn't help that it came with whatever was Noelle and Susie's hangout session.

Weird route Chapter 4 was legit though.

is Undertale Yellow, where we got to see Undertale if it were made by bog standard indie devs instead of Toby. The consensus in this thread is that it was of middling quality, and sorely missing that auteur secret sauce that the review was denying the existence of.
Yeah, also on the subject it felt too much like a rehash of the original Undertale story. On top of all that we already know it ends with Clover dying so nothing really matters. It's hard to give a shit when you already know nothing you do matters.
>BUT BOB IT'S NOT ABOUT THE DESTINATION IT'S ABOUT THE JOURNEY!
Shhhhh, shut the fuck up nigger. This isn't Red Dead Redemption 2, Clover is no Arthur Morgan so it's hard to really give a shit when he croaks. On top of that Ceroba is kind of a shitty character too that felt hard to sympathize with. So if I'm supposed to feel bad for her, I don't. I mean the dumb bitch got talked into killing her own daughter essentially BY said daughter and then makes it everyone else's problem. Fuck off.

I honestly think Undertale Yellow only gets so much praise because it's one of the few fan games that are actually original (Or at least TRIED to be and failed, most fangames are just AU slop. While it IS kind of a rehash of original Undertale making it a prequel story was kind of an interesting concept. Too bad they didn't do anything that interesting with it.) and actually got fucking finished. Many fan games get abandoned long before they're ever finished because the devs give up and are too lazy to finish what they started. So there's not exactly a lot of competition.

I enjoyed what Chapter 3 was doing but it felt like a downgrade from the main gameplay loop, especially after like 3 years of waiting.
The SWORD stuff was perfect though.

a better way of thinking of it is "it's a fangame, so you already know nothing you do matters" and at that point who gives a shit what the story is as long as it entertains you
The problem is it removes any chance for the story to do anything really interesting or surprising because it has to remain within the parameters of the original. That's my point.
It's hard to get invested when you know nothing you do means anything and the story isn't going to do anything to invest you either.

They could have done some interesting things with the prequel concept like I said but they didn't. (Such as exploring character events we don't get to see in the original story as a basic bitch example.) They just semi-retold Undertale with a different cast. Except now the ending is you eat shit and die no matter what. (Assuming you don't count the non-canon alternate endings.)

I will give them this though, they at least did a few things better than OG Undertale conceptually, like even though I didn't like Ceroba they at least showed flashbacks and shit to like try and get you to care unlike OG UT where all of the Asriel lore is just dumped on you right outside of the final boss.
