I don't quite understand the nature of Dark World. Ralsei explained that it's an "illusion" created by Lightner's alternative view of reality. But when exploring Dark World, you'll see deep lore and history of this world, as well as the history of interactions with other Darkners from other Dark Worlds that have not yet been created (Tenna and Spamton). This implies that Dark World has always existed in some form, and creating the dark fountain is just opening a portal to it, or that all this lore and history is fake, created and imprinted on Darkners upon the creation of the dark fountain.

Ralsei also explained that the form the Dark World and its inhabitants take also depends on who created the Dark Fountain. All the Dark Worlds we've visited so far are made from places and objects that Kris has some history with, particularly with the made up fantasy game he played using them with a girl who's either Noelle or Dess (more likely Dess). I'm guessing there's a connection there.
