I mean a story where it wasn't a dream isn't any more "real" than a story where it's all a dream, sure, but a story where it's all a dream is more fake than a story where it isn't.

The point of a story is to suspend your disbelief enough where, at least subconsciously, you accept the story as "real" so you can have emotional investment in it. If you wipe away all that investment and make the fictional world fake even within it's own story, the entire story itself becomes pointless.

You can't become invested in any of it anymore because none of it matters even within it's own confines. It retroactively devalues everything else in the story by rendering it pointless. Even if the ending was them failing and the world ending and everyone dying that would still have more weight, because at least the stakes were real. Even if it ends in a depressing way and all the characters are doomed at least the actual story you got involved with was real. It mattered to these characters and to the setting because at least it really happened to them.

But "it was all a dream" shit? You don't even get that.

None of it happened. None of them were real. It's all... just Mike. Ffs Mike isn't even an interesting fucking character. Crazy Barks was more interesting than fucking Mike. The only interesting thing about Mike was that he was a human.

The worst part is they already pulled a twist in the regular story with the Sock reveal. How am I supposed to care that Sock never existed if NO ONE FUCKING EXISTED NIGGA

Edit: so after some digging I've made the discovery that there was, in fact, a third game. Drawn To Life: Two Realms. It takes place after Mike wakes up and he can travel between the human world and the Rapposa world Link-to-the-Past style via his dreams.

Good news is that the series technically didn't die with the "it's a dream" shit and they're all still technically around.
Bad news is the game apparently sucked ass and sold terribly. It was a mobile game made by a different studio and the drawing mechanic is almost nonexistant. The story/gameplay is bland but the art and music are great. I was flabbergasted that there as apparently a sequel that came out that I never heard about, but apparently it was with good reason.

I'm not sure if that's a better or worse ending for a series tbh.

I was moreso joking about the fact that yes, I am indeed a loser sitting in his room playing a video game and all of this is simply just a video game. (:_(

I assume the "creepy doll" reference is probably something thematically linked to the fact that Kris himself is somewhat of a "creepy doll".
He has moments in the game where he goes limp and looks like a stuffed toy or something. This also ties into how he is thematically mirrored by Spamton's puppet features.

There are more examples but these are just a few, it's been one of my pet theories that Kris is supposed to be deliberately implied to be some kind of "doll/puppet", this is why Spamton's outcome freaks him out so much.

I don't know what Toby was going for with the diner scene if he's just gonna indulge his monster girl yurishit fetish again. If anyone here saw a couple of teenagers of the opposite sex having lunch together alone, drawing each other with their breath in the window and giving each other googly eyes you'd assume they're a young couple. I'm sorry Toby Fox but that is not platonic behaviour.

I want weird route to be the most edgelord thing imaginable. Like killing Susie in the Dark World and move on, but then you have to backtrack, and there's now a pool of blood under her body.

I saw a /v/ post pointing out that quite a few characters have similar masochistic lines and attitudes, like Alphys, Noelle, and Ralsei. And Kris kinda has it too, what with how he reacts positively to the idea of being Susie's dog. What if we're wrong about Toby? What if he's not that into yuri? What if his true fetish is actually males or females acting like masochistic subs to dominant women?

Was re-reading some of the thread and saw these again.

I honestly never get these people who say a video game changed their life or made them cry or whatever. Maybe I'm just a cynical faggot but I never once experienced this. Like okay, if a video game helped you out through a hard time, then cool, more power to you I guess but some of these people seem like retards who need video games to teach them how to be a fucking person sometimes. (Which they probably are.)
I think there's only one and only one time a video game made me cry and honestly I'm not even sure why maybe it's because it was late at night and I was tired at the time I honestly don't know but the time a video game ever made me tear up was the scene from Yakuza 0 where Makoto is crying over Tachibana's dead body. and that's about the only time I can think of. I also don't think I can ever say a video game taught me some important life lesson I didn't already know.

I especially do not get the people who say the Asriel twist in Undertale made them cry. But I already went over why I felt it didn't work that well earlier in the thread.

Powerlevel, some anime character who worked hard inspired me and got me out of my year-long laziness rut. That’s about as close to “media changed my life” as I can get.

Those people may be women or actual children. For some reason looney women like to claim that {Insert band here] literally saved their life. To this day, I have no idea how listening to music can change anyone’s life but again I'm not a nutcase wahmon
