Watched the new LoreFactsTV video. While it's mostly uninteresting there was one thing said in it that really resonated: The Egg of Light in Mother 3 is analogous to the eggs handed out by the Forgotten Man. For those who don't know, The Egg of Light in Mother 3 is basically a sacred device that was used to record everyone's memories before they were wiped. An egg that reminds people of what they forgot, and the Forgotten Man. Probably not a coincidence. Especially when you consider how similar Hometown is to Tazmilly Village.

I think it's still too early in the plot to speculate much further on what the eggs actually do (if anything) but I think this implies the characters of Deltarune had their memories wiped at some point. Here's a link to the video if you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfPjLpa8xJU

That would lend some credence to the theory that I swear I saw in this thread some time ago, that Deltarune is a story stuck in a loop. Also makes me wonder about the Playstation trophies, where you don't unlock the "Completed chapter without any issues" trophy for that chapter if you collect its egg. Also noteworthy that you can't collect the egg in Chapter 2 on the Snowgrave route. So thinking of it this way, the Man is helping Kris retain his memories for the next loop. If that's the case, then it explains why Kris knows so much that he shouldn't know, and might be why he's colluding with the Knight. Maybe the Knight also remembers. Maybe Ralsei, in addition to being an egghead, is an egg not in the way the fanbase wants you to believe. He doesn't know why he knows everything he knows, because his light world equivalent is some amalgamation of an egg and whatever other components are used to make him, him. Going off of that, it's no wonder Kris is such a slouch. He's done this self-imposed Groundhog Day so many times without getting a different ending, because the prophecy can't be changed. Maybe the Shadow Crystals are just another idea he has on how to break it.

Memory erasure? That seems a little far-fetched, don't you think?
No. I believe that they all WILLINGLY chose to forget.

If that's what's happening, the soul is what's new -- but you overwrite Kris's save at the very start of the game, so now he's stuck with whatever you do and can't load it again.

Right, I forgot that Gaster stitched us into the game. Kris at least seems to be somewhat aware of what exactly a SOUL is, and I don't take him to be the kind of person that cares about researching.

I thought about it for a while, imagine if Sans ends up being the Deltarune equivalent to Pokey in Mother 3 (or an anti-Pokey). Actually, thinking about it more, there's a bit of a parallel with them being seemingly normal npcs and then as you go through the game it's revealed there's more to them and at the end they end up being a big deal (Pokey being with Giygas at The Place/Sans at the end of genocide in Undertale). Oh, they are both also fat so there's that too.

Sans isn’t fat, he’s big boned.

Ngl I'm sticking with my idea that Kris, the Knight and whoever is on the phone are indeed trying to cause the Roaring as prophesied specifically to make a Matrix blue-pill scenario.

I've seen a lot of cope about how Kris is a gud boi who dindu nuffin and his working with the Knight is actually just some nebulous other totally justified plan that doesn't actually involve causing the Roaring, but I honestly think that's bullshit from what we see happen on both Kris and the Knights part throughout the story and from just a logical perspective.

It's repeatedly established that the dark worlds and the "people" therein are fundamentally not real within the context of the Light and Dark worlds, with the Dark Worlds being entirely reliant on Lighteners essentially projecting them into existence. If say, Dess died and Rudy is currently dying of incurable Monster Aids, the Dark Worlds would be a quick and easy solution to that from Carols perspective, being able to strengthen people and even completely resurrect the dead at will. But it's temporary, and still only amounts to what is essentially a magically infused delusion.

The Roaring prophecy predicts the world being completely engulfed with darkness and the Earth itself cracking apart and being destroyed, thereby making the Dark World the new defacto "real world" and preventing the darkness from ever being sealed again. Everyones delusions would become just as real as reality and couldn't be undone.

Very appealing idea for a moody emo Teen from a broken home and a grieving mother. No sacrifice would be too great for something like that, even hurting your own friends and family.

The TRVE ending where we, the Angel, shut that shit down will essentially just be us telling the characters "Sometimes life sucks nigga, accept it. Life can still get better and you need to move forward, don't lose yourself in fantasy and forget to write your own future." Basically a less depressing Claire Obscur.

Also we beat the shit out of Kris.

When chapter 7 comes out in 2030 you can quote me.

I do if nothing else think Kris had something to do with whatever happened to Dess. That's just my schizo theory though. We know absolutely that he's hiding things.

Though I think I might know where this originated from, apparently Toby mentioned that one of the things that prevented him from releasing Deltarune sooner was that apparently a game came out within a certain timeframe that he claims was similar to his own ideas. From what I recall there's only two likely options for what those two games were and they were Omori or YiiK. While the answer being YiiK would be absolutely fucking hilarious I think it's probably Omori since apparently Toby does know its creator and he specified a "friend" released the game he was talking about if I remember correctly.

And in Omori one of the biggest reveals was
The protagonist having killed their sister by pushing her down the stairs during a heated argument and feeling immense regret and guilt over it. It might also be worth noting that the sister played piano, like Kris. And Dess played guitar, while not quite the same thing the protagonist in Omori played violin. (Or at least tried to.) I do think it's at least similar enough to warrant a mention. And of course the protagonist proceeds to repress these memories and pretend it didn't happen until reality kicks him in the face.
So I would not be entirely surprised if at some point down the line we find out Kris had something to do with Dess going missing and feeling some kind of guilt about it.
Kris pushed Dess down the stairs and she clipped through or something. :story:
Deltarune also seems to have the theme of repressed memories too which further lends to the idea that Omori was probably the game Toby was referencing.

Maybe that's "the promise".

Kris swore he would fix it and bring her back.

I mean Toby also worked on YiiK directly, he made music for it. So it genuinely could be either of them lmao.

Tbh I could 100% see that being an angle. Could explain Kris seemingly working with The Knight even if The Knight doesn't turn out to be Dess herself it could easily be one of the Holidays with this angle I could absolutely see them wanting to use the power of the dark world to try and bring Dess back to life. I could see most people assuming based on how much time has passed that Dess is probably dead as fuck based on how long she's seemingly been missing.
Maybe the twist will be finding out that Dess isn't actually dead but trapped wherever the fuck she is causing them to freak out and cancel their plans or something.

"Fuck, maybe trying to bring about the apocalypse to bring our dead daughter back to life wasn't a good idea after all." :story:

NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR SISTER RIGHT NOW, NOELLE! WE ALMOST GOT [A Great Deal For A Reasonible Prise] OURSELVES!
Come to think of it, Alex is like the Anti-Kris with how he literally never shuts the fuck up.
Imagine if Kris did talk and every 5 minutes he's going
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!"
Kris Yiik - Copy.png
"RALSEI, YOU NEED TO TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, RIGHT NOW!"

It's going to be like the end of Rainbow Islands where you go back to Bubble Bobble except this time it's llama enemies fighting you with the judgement record.
Susie's going to start threatening to banish random people to the level-up screen.
