It's honestly kind of surprising that Kris and Asriel have a good relationship considering Chara's relationship with Asriel seemed mostly toxic from what we're told. (Pretty sure Asriel mentions how Chara would basically bully him and fuck with him a lot. Might be misremembering.)
I mean shit if you go back to Asriel at the end of UT, doesn't he pretty much straight up tell you he's finally realised "Chara wasn't a good person"?
I think he says "Chara wasn't the best person", though that line is quite open to interpretation.
I mean there is also the age difference. Chara and Asriel were more or less the same age whereas Kris is in highschool and Asriel is off at college.

Spoilers for a now 18-year-old game but the funny thing about the mystical trans goddesses is that they're normal. They're just dudes in drag or at least that's what they act like. That's the joke.
