Is Deltarune a good game if you completely isolate it from the fandom? Because I felt that way about Undertale, Deltarune looks quite a lot more faggy progressive than it though.

Worst parts of the "Fandom" does most of the heavy lifting for that appearance. The games themselves are more or less standard interesting comedic turn based rpg but with a few plot important characters being named after christmas shit for some reason that is not fully clear yet if it ever will be.

Yes. I'd call it better than UNDERTALE too.

The vast majority of faggy progressiveness you see in the fandom isn’t in the actual game, probably the biggest example being the main character’s gender. Daring to refer to Kris as “he” in a YouTube comment will cause at least 10 people to swarm in and “correct” you, but the game itself just keeps the main character ambiguous for self-insert purposes, which is exactly what Undertale did. There is an overuse of they/them pronouns in the game in general though because Toby really dislikes explicitly stating an NPC’s gender if he doesn’t have to for some reason.

Ignoring all that, if you liked Undertale, you’ll almost certainly like Deltarune, it’s just better overall.

Gameplay-wise it's better than Undertale. Having a whole party makes battles more complex and the RPG elements actually matter to a point. Story-wise, maybe??? The writing as far as indivitual scenes and moments is usually entertaining, and it's doing a good job pacing out a huge mystery, but there's dozens of directions it could end up going so I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

As far as faggy progressive stuff goes, there's nothing worse about Deltarune than what Undertale had. The silent protagonist is referred to as they/them, but there's no explicit gender bullshit reason why that it is nor has TobyFox said there is, as far as we know it's just to keep them ambiguous (though he mostly looks and acts like a dude). Probably the big source of faggotry in the fanbase that Undertale didn't have is that the Deltarune cast are mostly teenagers who have romantic interests, so there's a lot of shipping faggotry that even this thread gets up to. The big thing is that a major character has a cringy lesbian crush on another major character that takes up a bunch of her personality and dialogue, jury is still out on if this is meant to a wholesome UwU lesbian romance that Toby is bad at writing or if all the hints that her crush is directly related to her being traumatized and kind of fucked in the head are actually going to be explicitly true. It's possibly the thing people argue about the most.

No they didn't. They failed to dox the creator, which caused her to practice better opsec which ended up tricking the shartyfaggots into thinking they got her to hand it off to someone else. The game is still in production.
 
If anything there should be a UTDR Fandom Community Watch thread so discussion of the fans can happen there, and this thread can actually be about the games.
But does the fandom even warrant a CW thread? Besides just being really big and loud, they haven’t done anything thread worthy as of late. They’re not like FNAF which has a new kiddy diddling scandal every week, and it’s not third world pandemonium like Geometry Dash. The most obnoxious thing they did recently was Wplace, which wasn’t really that lulzy. The peak Undertale fandom was a lot worse but it’s kinda just a bog standard internet fandom now, not much really noteworthy.
But yeah the current thread title is gay and should just be “Undertale / Deltarune” or something

Pronoun game BS of the last decade has seemingly successfully gaslit people to believe they or them are just specific pronouns selected solely for gendershit reasons and it will never stop me from referring to people that aren't me either singular or in a group as they or them.
 
Nothing triggers the fandom into an hissy fit but "missgendering" frisk or kris. If only they put the minimum effort for scrutiny as they do to cite kris pronouns on things that actually matters, instead of calling transphobic and nazi anything they dont like and call the day.

Tbf, its undertale. 80% of the farms downright abhors it and considers Toby's work as slop. We should be lucky it isnt getting raided once in a blue moon ( though one upside is that it's easily of the better vidya threads on the farms).

Speaking of, given how its very likely we are gonna meet gaster ( or atleast will start playing a bigger role if you do the weird meta stuff like the eggs/weird route thing) how's toby gonna handle him given how much people's expectations have likely risen in the past 10 years over gaster. I believe he might know a way out over the whole roaring plot if the theory that the roaring happening is true. Hopefully we get a better idea of who the hell the egg man is.
