We make Kris everything he was too much of a shrinking violet to be on his own, and he fucking likes it
So we raped Kris too? Kinda based tbh.
went through all the highlights of this thread. Zero gameplay discussion. I don’t even know what kind of game this is.
In the time it took you to write this comment you could have opened a YouTube tab and watched a single video and realized exactly what kind of game it is.

I am sorry you are retarded. We actually play the game that we discuss in the thread so we don't feel the need to preface every post with "This is a turn based RPG with bullet hell combat for the retards in the audience."

Clicked on this, despite the egregious "lol zoomer" fucking edits and the part where the creator said they fucking cried at end of the true pacifist run, it was a reasonably interesting video.
nigga really took 25 minutes to say "its a game just play it how you want"
this type of video is extremely gay. not to defend the pacifist only spergs but they do have a point in that you miss out on a lot of interesting content if you dont try pacifist. the true lab is probably the most interesting part of the game. at the same time the same could be said about genocide because you get to absolutely shit all over mettaton and the sans and undyne fights are pretty sick

I guess the whole fanbase of the game really does like to backseat new players. Sometimes its just better to let them kill toriel and be confused instead of micromanaging their experience. Ive seen youtubers quit playthroughs because the fanbase was rabid back in the older days, theyve cooled off now but people threatened swatting over someone doing a genocide run lmao. No wonder toby is scared and hides in japanese.

Also arent the main characters in deltarune underage? I kind of feel horrible for the kids looking up their favorite games nowdays

They do that now if you dare to say Kris is a guy and not a Tumblrina "they" (if you state it's a "she", most won't mind, though, curiously enough).

They are teenagers of undetermined age, indeed.

>play game at your own pace
>don’t meet requirements for true ending
>game nudges you to play the game a different way for a different ending
>if you like the game enough to play it again, you will, it’s pretty short and you probably missed some dialogue anyway

What’s complicated about that? It even shortens certain cutscenes, gives you the option to skip minigames, and skips the entire Omega Flowey fight if you’ve already done it because the games knows you’re just speedrunning to get to the pacifist stuff.

Also, I technically beat Sans for the first time last night. Granted, that’s after years of watching other people’s genocide runs so I already knew all the patterns, and it was through Bad Time Simulator, but it still only took a few tries. BTS kinda feels like cheating though since it’s a higher frame rate so some of the faster attacks look smoother and therefore easier to dodge.

The fanbase's insanity is part of the reason why I had difficulty really enjoying the game; it's decent, but the insane community really cut down on what I could enjoy. Didn't help that I got spoiled on certain parts, and how the fans tends to overly attach themselves to certain characters and headcanons.

Same issue with Deltarune, honestly; I kinda want to really deep dive back on in, but...

Don't you know? To the typical fandom member, the younger someone is, the "sexier" they are. I feel dirty just for typing that...

the only place i go to talk UT/DR is this thread now. Its the only actual place of discussion that isn't riddled with fags and trannys trying to enforce pronounspeak on everyone.

Same. The community was bad enough when UT was new - the constant obsession with Sans go on my nerves FAST - but it's just gotten more mental when the pronoun police took over.

That backseat driving bullshit was the worst.

My first playthrough I did kill Toriel and know what happens when I was like OH SHIT HOLD UP and tried to redo it? Flowey calls it out. That was very memorable for me and is what actually hooked me on the game.
Just doing pacifist out the gate makes players miss out on how unique certain outcomes can be. and that uniqueness is usually what drives people to naturally attempt as much routes as possible.
Gotta let the game cook for people. If they lose interest because they didn't get THE HECKIN TRUE AND WHOLESOME ENDING then so what.

Unfortunately, the fandom hasn't learned shit because now there's interpretation policing going around, especially with the pronoun bullshit.

Unfortunately by the time I got to playing Undertale it had been throughly spoiled for me so I didnt get a chance to go in blind.

Its one of the reasons I've enjoyed deltarune more cause It is coming out new and I can get it, play it for a few days and avoid the internet where people will talk about it. Most fun i've had with the game!

Here I am, back in this thread just to announce that I've replayed all 4 chapters again and managed to get all of the Shadow Crystals so far, it was a wonderful experience all over again. I love this game even though it has their flaws., you bet I'll be waiting for the next year to play Chapter 5. In the meantime, I will be shitposting with you guys.

Anyhoo, I've seen that a lot of you were talking about crazy theories a couple of pages ago, so, after replaying the whole game again, I have something that might be canonical in the future because there are certain things connecting it.

Since Ralsei is a Darkner, and Darkners are only objects that you can clearly see as that in the Light World, there is the theory that he might be the headband that Kris used to wear as a kid to appear more as a monster because of his adoptive parents. It does compute, considering that it is mentioned that he used to wear a read Devil headband to look like his parents.

And guess who has the same type of horns?

Not to mention, he is the one that always appears in the Dark Worlds that Kris and Susie explore, and we never have an explanation on why he appears just like that. Maybe the reason on why that happens is that Kris may still use that headband and brings it to him everywhere he goes, and he doesn't show it because of unknown reasons. That would be the reason on why he appears everywhere in the Dark World without the need of Kris or Susie calling him for help.

The only issue with the horns theory is that Kris has the option to leave the final chapter 4 dark world and travel to the Castle Town, with Ralsei staying behind with Susie. And in general, if Ralsei was an object Kris carries on his person, we would see him manifest from Kris when we enter a dark world, similar to how Roulx does in chapter 2, and we never see that happen. He always finds his way to the party from some unknown location away from Kris and Susie. At the very least, it can't be something Kris is carrying.

Now that I think of it, I don't think I have ever seen anyone discuss this, this seems like a pretty big hole to me. Then again, I do try to avoid the fandom cancer, and we have had chapters 3 and 4 for less than 2 months

This is precisely why I don't buy the horns headband theory. Sure, you can say it's in Kris' ball of junk, but I just don't see it given Lancer and Rouxls being individual inventory items while one of the main protags is miscellaneous junk.

I think Ralsei is perhaps a manifestation of a memory of Asriel, hence why he's present in every dark world and doesn't turn to stone, he can be anywhere Kris is without needing to be a physical item. Eventually as part of the final tragedy the heroes will have to seal the last dark fountain - Castle Town, which would explain why Ralsei didn't care enough to personalise his room. He knows the prophecy (by virtue of being part of Kris, who's in cahoots with the Knight, therefore knowing the prophecy), why bother exploring your tastes and likes if you're just gonna eventually vanish?

If Ralsei was just another item darkner, how come he seems to be the only one who knows what happens in the prophecy (barring Gerson)?

King was misguided. Queen was straight up flabbergasted when Ralsei explained the roaring. And Tenna just wanted to hang out again and did stuff on Kris' request.

Also the Ralsei horns theory is actually quite popular. It's more or less accepted as canon for the time being.
Aw man, I thought I was being unique with the theory, this fandom always go one step ahead of me.
Susie's interactions with Gerson were something out of a Saturday morning cartoon. A rebellious teen is supposed to be rude to old men, not get advice from them and accept it.
I have to disagree with you on that. The dynamic between Gerson and Susie was one of the highlights of Chapter 4, and yeah, Susie was like that to Gerson in the beginning, but the development of hers took a huge leap in that chapter as well, Gerson had the patience to reach into her and that is why she felt more comfortable talking to him afterwards, he gave her the confidence in her abilities, this time being the healing magic and she got better because of it. She even says the reason why she grew to like him, because he was the only teacher who didn't make her feel stupid while teaching him, that to me is a huge compliment coming from a rebellious teenager like her.

Even then, Susie got to grow more and more as a character ever since chapter 1, she is more open to people and is willing to listen to develop herself as a Hero, that is why she easily grow to like the old man and is now carrying his legacy by getting the Justice Axe.

Toby's writing for Susie is NOT perfect, since he made her say very stupid stuff. But he hit the nail in the head on writing Susie's development in Chapter 4.
